People were chanting Mars Bar and Maniac’s name. Why are people chanting their names you ask? Maniac and Mars Bar were racing again and Mars Bar promised himself that he wouldn't stop running until he beat Maniac at least once. All of a sudden, a black car with translucent windows pulled up in front of the alley. A tall man in a suit and tie stepped out of the car with a briefcase in his right hand. In the other hand he held his phone which he seemed to just have gotten off of. He heard the shouting, applauds, and name chanting. The man’s name was Mr.OzWerth. He saw how fast Maniac was and how he beat Mars Bar by 100 yards. A few minutes after Mars Bar reached the finish line, finally, Mr. OzWerth introduced himself. Maniac had introduced himself and after a long conversation of racing, Mr. OzWerth asked Maniac if he would like to star in the Junior Olympics. Maniac Wasn't sure yet so Mr. OzWerth just gave Maniac one of his business cards and left. Maniac rushed home and told the Beales all about this huge offer. He told them about how much money he would get if he won and how much fun he would have. Maniac was too excited and Mr. and Mrs. Beale couldn't turn him down. Plus, Mr. and Mrs. Beale could use some of the money to pay for the overdue taxes and bills. Maniac pulled out the business card Mr. OzWerth gave him and with one quick call, Mr. OzWerth had Maniac packing and to the airport by 2:00. Maniac knew that his incredible speed would finally be put to

John Pear asked Katy to sit on the front seat with Mary Lee, Katy refused at first because she was scared that if she gets out of the car, John Pear might drive away and leave her alone. After John Pear told Katy that he wont do what she's afraid of, Katy finally left the car, but right after she closed the door, John Pear locked the door and drove away. Mary Lee begged for John pear to stop but John Pear didn't. Mary Lee later found out that this is what Madrigal did to be entertained, John Pear and Madrigal would drive a person to the neighborhood, lock them out, and would watch them suffer. Mary Lee also found out that John Pear and Madrigal did the same thing to Scarlett, that's why she was afraid of her. The next day was their "Winter Sleigh Day" which is like a winter carnival. During the winter carnival the teenagers were
I would rather live in the World State due to life on the “savage reserve” being hazardous. On the reserve, food is not guaranteed. In 1984 it is stated that the environment of the savage reserves is so inhospitable that it is not productive to establish civilization in these areas. To me, living in the World State would mean losing my identity, so I wouldn’t miss the freedoms that I have now. On the other hand, on the savage reserve I would be aware of the missing food and absence of any luxury. Also, based on Bernard’s experience in the book, I would have a hard time fitting in on the reserve as a white person.
The above quote enhances the setting of 1984 because it shows how Winston and Julia, Winston’s love interest, wanted to be together. Winston's has a hard time focusing the rest of the day due to the news. When the two meets up again they well do whatever they can to be together. Winston's desires are very powering. He is adamant about Julia.
Paragraph 1 tone : He seems nervous about this trip He says ,“We’ve all been up since midnight, starting our predive checks after a couple of restless hours of sleep, and the whole team is running on adrenaline. These are the roughest conditions I’ve dived in so far on the expedition” The way he says that they’ve been up the whole night doing checks without sleep and how this is one of the roughest conditions he has dived in so far just gives the sense of nervousness if he will make the challenge.
Chapter 5: Paul explains about how unsanitary the camps are, explaining that he and his friends had gotten louses (lice) in their head, and they try to attempt to get it off. Haie tries to cheer up the rest of the soldiers by telling them that he might have got the lice from the hospital, but he is the one who laugh the most, for 30 minutes straight. After trying to get the lice off themselves, they hear that Himmelstoss got in trouble for harassing the soldiers, and the magistrate’s son caught him in the action. Hearing the news that Himmelstoss got in trouble for his wrongdoings, Paul and the rest of the group start planning out what they should do or say to Himmelstoss when he comes back to the camp. When talking about what they should do
There are multiple details that stood out as particularly true to life in my view. One was the nariartator that it is telling the story/ his view point main character mentions what check out aisle number. It mentions how the three girls looked. The character payed attention to how the girl that seem to be the leader was walking saying “she came down a little hard on her heels, as if she didn’t walk in her bare feet much” this quote helps you picture how the person and might help picture what the girl was walking like. He gave details to where he was and what he was doing when the three girls was doing. He mentions that “I’m in the third check-out slot with my back to the door so that I didn’t see them until they had reach the bread” this helps the reader to set up an mental image of the store as they are reading.
1) “They carried the soldier’s greatest fear, which was the fear of blushing. Men killed, and died, because they were embarrassed not to. It was what had brought them to the war in the first place, nothing positive, no dreams of glory or honor, just to avoid the blush of dishonor. They died so as not to die of embarrassment” (O’Brien 20).
Chapter 4 was insightful in public opinion, because there is a lot to say about it. The political socialization unit was something we all know, but it also allows time to look into the lense of children, I looked at this more intently because I am taking a juvenile delinquency course and we read about exposure to environments as well as the family molding a child is very impactful.

The purpose of this chapter is to give sort of a background to the novel. It introduces Salem as well as Puritan society and the Custom house. The author's attitude toward his old job and workers is mainly positive, giving descriptions of the groups and people. He puts them in either a mundane or positive light by showing their qualities even if they are strange. An example of this is his description of the General's overwhelming kindness or the President's love of past meals (Hawthorne, 284). Even though they are seen as positive, the author still shows they no longer belong at the Custom house. He states " [they knew] they ought to have given place to younger men" (Hawthorne, 280). He sees them generally as senile and unfit for their jobs, but still as people. Because the author address

For the past fifty years treatment of schizophrenia has been marked by its basis on the dopamine hypothesis for schizophrenia. However, this model for the disease and its subsequent treatment have left many patients without relief or help in dealing with this disease which has lead to a search for a better model. The dopamine model lacks the recognition of a whole range of symptoms associated with the disease and therefore can not be an accurate basis for treatment. More recently, there has been a shift to the glutamate hypothesis which has been shown to more accurately characterize the wide range of symptoms experienced by patients living with this disorder as well as the possibility in improvements for drug treatments.
In the novel, Maniac Magee written by Jerry Spinelli, Maniac is revealed to be a warmhearted person. Maniac is revealed to be a warmhearted person when he repaired the book with Amanda. A regular person would have said oh I'm sorry then walked away but, Maniac actually tried to fix it himself and failed. So he fixed it with Amanda. Then later in the story Maniac is again shown to be a warmhearted person when he arranged Greysons funeral. The reason that this shows he was a warmhearted person was that he went out of his way to not only attend Greyson's funeral but plan his funeral. That itself shows that he was a warmhearted person. Then when the McNabs have a party Maniac invites MarsBar to the party in order to show both the McNabs and MarsBar
“Maniac”, a chapter of Orthodoxy, was written by G.K. Chesterton to shine a light on the common man. To begin, he writes, “reason used without root, reason in the void. The man who begins to think without the proper first principles goes mad...” In this quote, Chesterton describes how difficult it is to think and interpret new information if you are not ready. He is explaining that if someone takes in too much information that is too advanced, they may not respond to it very well.
