A number of things have been attributed to the red planet in contemporary times, much of it research-based, some cartoon-based. One’s childhood could have been filled with various science fiction novels about humanity colonizing the red planet or watching Bugs Bunny outsmart the Martian and his dog.
Regardless of how you know the red planet, it does not change what is known about the red planet and what secrets it continues to unveil to us. The following is a case study of a lesson by Mr. Villanueva reviewing lessons on the planet Mars for an upcoming test. The Mars One project has remained for awhile as a legitimate company, but experts and scammed donors have found majour flaws in the Mars One Mission. Many of the experts have found several errors and discrepancies when they more closely examined the Company. This in turn has led many to conclude that Mars One is not a legitimate space agency, and people should not be investing time, resources, and money into this untrustworthy company.

As Americans, our first time landing on the moon with humans was in 1969,after 7 years of extreme advancement in technology. Since then, we have not sent humans any farther [nasa.gov]. Sure, we’ve sent rovers to Mars and those rovers are still there. We’ve attempted to reach Venus and Mercury but were incinerated on the surface. Plus Venus and Mercury are way too close so it’s a melting pot for anything that goes there. That leaves NASA with one more goal--Mars. Mars is an interesting and mysterious planet. It is often referred to as the Red Planet. The Romans named Mars after the god of war. The rocks, soil, and sky all have a red hue on account of rust. Mars is the fourth planet from the sun at about 141 million miles (228 million kilometers) and the last terrestrial planet from the Sun. Mars follows closely behind Earth but is comparatively smaller, with about half the diameter of Earth (6,794-km) and about one-tenth of Earth s mass (6.419 x 1023 kg). I don't think men are from Mars. I think they're from Whoville, where every year they align with the Grinch and band together to ruin Christmas. Each holiday, after thoughtfully deciding on, shopping for, and wrapping the perfect presents for my boyfriend, I can't wait to see what he picked out for me. I breathlessly anticipate tearing open the perfect romantic/sentimental gift, and every year I'm sorely disappointed.
The prospect of exploring Mars and starting a new human colony there is an exciting one. Many people are eager to learn more about that possibility, and many people have ideas of what life would be like and how society would be run. An important part of running a successful colony is having a strong government to oversee the colony. If I were a part of an advisory committee for a colony on Mars, I would want my fellow advisors specific traits and characteristics that would help to advance our colony and allow it to thrive.The four other advisors to influence the society would be adaptable, open minded, and humble.
We like to think of space as some vast place of mystery; just waiting for us to explore it. It lives and breaths in our media, “Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before (Star Trek monologue)”. The dream of one day exploring space has been around for decades. And while we have had some success in that area, there is still much more to explore. One such area of exploration is Mars. People have been interested in Mars for years now, wishing to one day colonize the red planet. And one day, we will do just that. Not only to fuel are curiosity, but also to help save our species, and bring resources back to the blue planet that we love so much.
If we consider Mars as one of our options, we should investigate more about the health challenge that we might face on the red planet. As some investigation has shown, less gravity can make the human immune system weaker. Having a weaker immune system can be very dangerous, because if bacteria infected humans during this period, it can cause catastrophic damage and/or even death. This will add more concern about the possibility of moving to Mars, because more technology would be needed to sustain humans and protect their life on the Red Planet. Stronger and more effective vaccines will be needed to keep humans healthy to prevent them from getting sick. This method would be very necessary since human immune system won’t be able to fight back
Like said before, Mars is called the Red Planet because of its color and that is because of its iron-rich minerals in the loose dust and rock covering its surface. NASA thinks that the iron minerals oxidize or rust, causing the soil to look red. The atmosphere on Mars is cold and thin which means that liquid water cannot exist (at this time) for any length of time. Mars also has the largest volcano in the solar system including Olympus Mons which is about 370 miles in diameter. Many of the regions on Mars are flat, low-lying plains. There is no exact number of craters on mars and it varies from place to place, depending on how old the surface is. Evidently, Mars is not like Earth.
For whatever reason, the planet Mars has always been synonymous with alien life in popular culture. This makes it very interesting to study. Recent studies have taught us a great deal about Mars’ surface, water content and geography as well as suggesting that it may have been capable of supporting life in the past. Further study of Mars’ ice caps, various impact craters and other sources has helped scientists glean information of the planet’s history and the wealth of information that can be gained from its study. Of course, the most popular topic about Mars is its present habitability and presence of life, both of which are still very possible. Mars will be an excellent planet to analyze due to its proximity to earth and its ability to potentially sustain life.
Scientists have ideas of how we could live there. We have the technology, but it’s getting there and staying there that’s the problem. Other planets should be considered to explore, for it would give everyone a different perspective on how we would live differently than how we do on Earth. “Today, experts believe it’s no longer a question of if we’ll ever set foot on the Red Planet, but when,” says Laurie Vazquez.
