Abstract
Mary Kay Ash was a famous American business owner. She is the founder and owner of Mary Kay Cosmetics. She worked very hard in life to achieve great things. Owning her own business took her a while, but she exceled through it. Mary Kay Cosmetics is currently a $3.5 billion dollar industry. She married Ben Rogers at the age of seventeen and went on to have three children. Ben Rogers served in World War II, while Mary Kay sold books and earned over $25,000. When Ben returned from war, the two later on went separate ways.
Mary went on to work at Stanley Home Products. She was hosting parties and encouraging people to buy household products. She was a top seller but, never did get recognized. She then went on to World Gifts in 1952. She was there over a decade but, left because she wasn’t treated equally. Mary Kay then went on to write books. In 1963, her and her second husband invested $5,000 to start Mary Kay Cosmetics. He died before the launch of the company. Her and her son went on to open the first Mary Kay store in Dallas, TX. In the first year they made $200,000. Two years later Mary Kay Cosmetics went on to earn $1,000,000. Her game plan was much like the products she sold earlier in her career. Mary was a successful educator, writer, translator, activist, reformer, wife and mother. She was one the most influential in the creation of a new education system, and a supporter of the change in the meaning of the true woman of her time. She wrote and published more six books, and many articles. One of Mary lifelong goal was to transform the lives of all young girls and their mothers through education. She worked and support her husband to do more for the American schools. She died February 11, 1887, at the age eighty in an apartment she shared with Elizabeth.
Her accomplishments were achieved by writing her books about women's rights and how women are being treated unfairly because of their gender. She also wanted woman to receive education too. I think this person is considered an important historical figure because she spoke out about the unfair treatment of women and how education is important to women too. She wrote many popular books, including A Vindication of the rights of Woman showcasing her opinion on society. Mary is considered the “Mother of feminism” because she was one of the first women to speak out against the unfair treatment of woman.
Kay Schmitt grew up on a chicken farm in Wichita Kansas. She had three siblings and an average childhood. Her father taught her many lessons about the business world, for he was always investing in new businesses or starting new businesses himself. Over his life time he owned, and operated dozens of businesses’. She learned many of her entrepreneurship skills from her father. After high school she attended Kansas State University where she met my grandpa. Like many woman in college at that time, she quite college in order to follow her husband.
