Introduction
The crime that this paper will focus on and try to dissect/solve will be civilian mass shootings or as the Federal Bureau of Investigation refers to them, active shooter incidents, where a person(s) goes out into a public setting and tries to kill or injure others on purpose (FBI). The first problem with these types of incidents is gun control because the weapons that are used for these are guns that can be purchased from a store, and even if someone is to pass all the requirements to obtain and use one that does not mean that they should have one because of the risks involving not only them but anyone who might have access to the gun. Then there is the issue of mental health, not just mental illness, because besides anyone with

There is much that it can show us is that frustration is something that anyone can experience, and the displacement of aggression shouldn’t be the only option of release for this. If it was really studied as a possible general affliction that could affect anyone, then the routine check-up in the research question could be applied because it would be a concern to have with the public. There could be a possible way to address these incidents using ways to avoid or address any frustrations that could build up. This policy, would consist of the following: after completing a training session for safe and responsible gun ownership for the individual and their family, they would submit to two evaluations: one would be a general one with a personality assessment and a compilation of any and all sources of possible or active frustration that would root out anything that all the individuals might have in their minds that could cause problems within a household where there is a deadly weapon, and then the second one would consists of a personal test for the potential gun owner to assess the reasons behind wanting to have a gun within their home and would include alternatives to owning a gun for their sake and those around them; after these there would be a wait period before the gun is granted where they are sent to mandatory individual and group sessions to address their problems and be shown how owning guns could affect them, and if there seems to be issues that can spiral to bigger issues the wait period would be extended or their request would be denied
Forty-five nationwide shootings occurred in the year 2015 where numerous innocent children were killed by cold, hearted adults. Enough is enough with these unforgivable tragedies happening again and again. No matter what schools say about ways already enforced, it is obviously not working because since the well-known shooting of Sandy Hook there has been 142. School is a place to teach and give knowledge to students in a happy, healthy setting. When kids are going to school they are not happy to learn when schools have tendencies to be attacked by an insider or outsider. Children are dying, the future of America are being killed in a place where they are forced to go by law. Loving parents send these children in hopes to
In today's world there is a big debate on what we should do with guns. Some think we should ban guns, or limit gun possession. Others think we should keep our guns, after all, we have the Second Amendment, which protects the right for civilians to bear arms. But i believe there is another option, I think there is a link between the mass shootings and mental disabilities and diseases, and if that’s true, we should worry about that. According
I'm hurt and sickened by the actions of this man. As we stand by and watch the biggest mass shooting in American history unfold, there are a few things we need to remember.
On July 25, at Club Blu in Fort Myers, Florida, a shooter shot 18 people, killing 2 and injuring 16. Due to these recent shootings all across America, citizen become increasingly more concerned for their safety. We need to look at these shootings and realize that something needs to be done. We need to make the ways of obtaining guns and ammunition harder for everyone. Everyone needs to join forces and implant this problem that is plaguing on our great country.
Admittedly, the amount of mass shootings in America is still going on onto this day, as last week, California had a recent one, carried out by a couple with assault grade weapons. Thus, this topic was brought up countless time on the news, what could be done. I believe pretending is part of the problem. These things happen over and over again and yet we do nothing and pretend it won’t happen again. Changing nothing and then believing something will change is a ludicrous ideology. This same ideology is being used by many Americans, we are given examples of other place throughout the world on how they turn their country gun problem around, similar to Australia, yet we pretend we don’t notice just like we pretend we don't notice our country's
Mass shootings have become an upcoming trend, all over the country. Shopping centers, schools, churches, and even movie theaters have seen the violent mass shootings lately. People ask how we can stop the violence, but most don’t know where to start.
Society has seen and experienced mass shootings over the last decade and more frequently as of recent. There have been mass shooting in malls, schools, military bases, movie theaters, and even churches. The shooting in South Carolina was not the first mass shooting to occur in a church. It may even seem that a number of mass shootings has increased over the years. Many have been quick to rush to judgment when these shooting have occurred and have led to overgeneralization, selective and inaccurate observation and illogical reasoning. Everything from guns, race, prior criminal history, lack of armed security, and a flag have been blamed for the violence that has occurred from those who
October 1, 2017: the date of the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history; 58 murdered, hundreds more injured. Unfortunately, this is just one example of an awful mass shooting; breaking families apart, and scarring others for life. Although it is beyond tragic that there have been so many tragedies like this, with the help of forensics and investigators they have been able to find similarities in mass murderers, and with more public awareness comes the hope that in the future, these disasters can be prevented.
I am writing to you today about the recent gun problems in America. In the past, America has been notorious for its’ mass shootings. From 1966 to 2012, almost a third of the world’s mass shootings took place in America and this is only the shootings where four or more people were killed. The number would be significantly higher if every single shooting was counted. Since the beginning of this year, there have been 384 shootings and we still have two months left in the year. That’s more than one shooting a day. However, it’s not a surprise there are this many shooting in America because there was a study done that shows that there are approximately 270 million guns owned by U.S. citizens. That means that in every hundred US citizens, 88.8 of
In the last two decades, mass shootings have become seemed to be dominating news headlines in North America. These local acts of violence have devastated families, communities and countries and have since shone a light on debates surrounding gun violence and the laws that govern it, the negative affects of social media, bullying, and the wide and deep breadth of mental health issues. A mass shooting is largely defined as a shooting perpetrated by one or more persons, where four or more people are killed. Since 1966, in the United States alone, there have been twenty mass shootings yielding eleven or more victims. All of these atrocities were carried out with the use of semi-automatic rifles, all of these massacres continue to garner more and
On April 20th, 1999 the world was forever changed. This was the day of the famous school shooting at Columbine High School. On this day 13 people were killed in what is thought of as a safe place. How could two people do such a thing?
The two killers are the only ones that are responsible in the killing. Although, they did have
There is an assumption that if you understand the minds of serial killers, or persons who commit mass shootings, that it may help prevent mass shootings. “Mass shootings are not on the rise, but have held steady over three decades, randomly clustering in time to trick our brains into finding a pattern of increase where none actually exists” (Shermer 3). Mass shootings happen at varying times without rhyme or reason. Some think that a psychological disorder or some genetic defect could be the reason people commit these crimes. Although we cannot prevent mass shootings, we can educate on how mental health issues can be a precursor to such a tragedy, and how better laws can create a safer environment.
The war with gun violence worldwide had paved its controversy that struggled between sovereignty and public safety. Experts claim that the individual’s ideology, self-defense, and survival can cause the person to arm themselves. Although, gun related homicide cannot be stopped by banning guns alone, but by finding clues of a psychopath effected by emotional trauma before the purchase of weapons.
When people suffering from antisocial personality disorder come into contact with tools such as knives and guns, they end up practicing acts that are harmful. Recently, the prevalence of antisocial personality disorder was found to be the main cause of sandy hook shootings. These shootings led to death of many innocent people. Moreover, the lack of policies to control guns has contributed to availability of guns to individuals who do not have any form of control in the usage of guns. When these guns end up to bad people or to those suffering from mental illnesses, this led to mass shootings (Henigan, 2009).
