After so many heartbreaking mass shootings all over the world, the debate on gun control is at its boiling point! People are outrageously mad about the topic and demand for guns to be banned, however the other side of people are also just as angry and believe that guns are needed for several reasons. Banning guns is going to help out the United States and stop a lot of the main harm. Both sides of this argument have good points in them, however we’re going to break this topic down to see which side is more valid. Numbers in murders and harm all around the United States have been rising due to guns. Rather it’s intentional or accidental the topic has blown up causing many arguments. I believe that guns should be banned in the United States, or at least have a stricter set of rules to them instead of a person being able to simply get a gun. I don’t believe that banning guns will stop all harm, but truth be told it would stop a lot. For example, if a guy were to walk into a store with a gun and threaten people, he would have a higher risk at killing them and or getting whatever he is there for, however if he walked in with a knife he wouldn't have such a high possibility. In the year 2013, the number of suicidal harm due by guns was a total number of 21,175 lives, while suicide by other means were only at a 19,974. Homicides by guns also were a total of 11,675 while homicide by other means were only at 4,962. Guns have caused almost as much harm to numbers in people wise, as war has. There are several accidents all over the world that harm the US just by guns and which all could easily be prevented by a tougher schedule in order to get guns or if they were just banned all together. Having a stricter rule on guns would help out the country a lot more than people think, but some people refuse to face the facts and realize this for their own personal
For many years there has been a battle with the control over guns but what has really brought the attention is the recent shooting let it be in schools or public spaces. The deadliest in U.S history due to the many innocent victims killed was the Las Vegas Shooting on October 1, 2017, when a gunman opened fire at the concert crows below with the help of AK-47 type rifle outfitted with a stand to steady it and improve accuracy as well as a AR-15 type typically used for hunting, as well as a AR-15 type with a bump to help hold 60-100 rounds to have much damage. The question here is are gun regulations not efficient enough? In behalf of the reader's response lens the reason that it deals with the generations present and future ones. The assault
Many criminals who get access to these lethal weapons can commit mass murders or directly target the government. Terrorist attacks can be carried, killing hundreds or sometimes even thousands. Thirdly, armed citizens can accidently kill another citizen when a dangerous situation unfolds. When danger strikes, the person with a firearm is most likely to panic the most, and so they will pull the trigger on anyone to save their own life. Similarly, the police sometimes accidently kill innocent citizens who otherwise were being calm and were abiding by the law.
Gun control is a real issue with Americans today. Many people have different opinions about how to handle our growing dilemma concerning guns. There are those who believe we should ban guns altogether and those who believe we should not ban or restrict the people's right to own guns at all. Both sides have valid arguments, but neither side seems to know how to compromise because of their very different opinions. I personally believe guns should be banned. However, those against gun control have very good

On the night of October 1st, 2017, a gunman was able to open fire on a crowd of concert goers from his hotel room at the Route 91 Harvest music festival in Las Vegas, Nevada, leaving 58 people dead and 851 injured in the process. It is defined as the deadliest shooting in modern US history, and involved dozens of weapons which were all purchased legally in the state, many of which were also modified to become semi-automatic rifles. If this one incident doesn’t sound bad enough, there are many other types of mass shootings like these that are reported by the media and often involve weapons which fall into what’s defined as an assault weapon. Because mass shootings like these happen so often, many people are starting to believe the right for
There have been over 360 mass shootings in the United States between January and October of this year. An average of around 1.2 shootings a day should make it alarmingly clear that something must be done. Many people push for gun control due to their strong belief that it will solve the issues that come from people having the capability to murder others, and terminate the mass casualty situations, which are deemed as multiple people being injured and/or killed during a single shooting. They want the government to make it illegal to own a private gun because of how murderers and ill people put them to use. There is no doubt that gun violence and the safety of citizens is of great significance in society. There are several proposals and sides,
There is no need for gun control in America. In a study conducted in 2017, on the one hundred and eighty five mass shooters since 1900, about fifty nine percent have either been treated for a mental disorder or have reported signs showing serious signs of a disorder. Although guns are a big factor in mass killings I believe mental health is a major issue that has gone unaddressed for too long. Today's young generation known as Millenials are very much a “take action, without knowing all the risks” kind of people. Grant it, not all people who believe in stricter gun control are categorized under this generation, but the majority that does, belong in the category of Millenials. In my short life span I have seen how people's beliefs and political
Six adults and twenty students would soon lose their lives due to one man with crazy unexpected intentions (N.pg.). With all the hustle and bustle of the morning air, who would've ever thought that the security of a small elementary school needed to be safer than ever. Newtown’s safety was under no one’s control because of less security and staff who were not prepared at the time (Sandy Hook Families). So how can the security become fixed when its already known as “safe and secure”? Some ways that could completely help are looking at school safety now, mental health institutes, and gun control so that all of the students, staff, and visitors will be more secure when entering school. In order
Since Howard’s reforms have been put in place a mass shooting has still not occurred in Australia to this day. The fact that before the reforms were put in place in 1996, thirteen mass shootings had occurred since 1979, the gun control reforms made Australia a safer and more secure country (Donohue, 2015). The reforms that were put in place made sure that guns typically used in massacres were banned and around 700000 guns were confiscated and dismantled, which were given up by the population cooperatively. The new reforms also implemented that people needed a valid reason to now own a legal gun, which had to be approved by the police and then could finally, be purchased from a licensed arms dealer. Owning a gun for self-defence was and still
Is Violence the world’s #1 problem? A big part of Violence that happens a lot is Mass shootings. Mass shootings as in school shootings, theater shootings, etc. Terrorism is another form of violence that has risen. Terrorism as in bombings in public places like France restaurants, Turkey’s cities, etc. Last but not least is Murder the #1 most common violent action in the U.S. Causing death to innocent people at times. Violence isn’t the answer because it is ruining humanity and making it worse than it already is.
The debate over gun control is one of the most heated debates currently going on in the government, and in the general population of the United States. One side of the debate says that guns are a legal right protected by the Second Amendment, and help to keep citizens safe if they are ever attacked. The other side says that guns are an evil thing, that they are the cause of death and destruction, and they want to infringe on American 's rights, and basically negate the entire second amendment. Gun Control is something that would really hurt this nation. If guns are banned, law abiding citizens will turn in their guns, and criminals will be free to do whatever they want without the fear of a citizen having a gun to stop them.
Gun control is one of the most controversial topics in the United States today. With all of the violence erupting and school shootings, and all these horrific cases we are seeing in todays society, the question of stricter gun control has become a hot topic. There are three sides to gun control and one is either for it, against it, or neutral about it. The second amendment has given us the right to bear arms, which is the reason why we citizens are able to purchase and obtain firearms. The second amendment is the reason why the U.S has not gotten rid of firearms in the ownership of citizens in the first place and this is why it is so controversial because it is our given right to be able to obtain these firearms. There is many reasons as into why there should be stricter gun control but at the same time there is reasons why there should not, and in this essay I will be going over facts that will support either side. We have all seen what guns can do in the wrong hands but also the good they do in the hands of the right person.
I believe the number one argument we hear when discussing gun control is that guns are dangerous and lethal weapons, that do nothing more than hurt people. And I would have to agree completely with these arguments, but just because this is true does not mean that no one should be allowed guns, or their choice of gun. Of course they are dangerous weapons with 8,300 people dying from unintentional shootings between the years 1999 and 2010 (Violence, 2016). Not to mention the average of 268 people shot every day in the U.S. alone (Record, 2013). It’s quite clear why people would be so eager about ensuring gun laws are strengthened to bring these statistics
Guns have been in this country for years, you can’t just take them away. Gun Control should be enforced but it shouldn’t take away the right to bear arms. Gun laws should be there but for the criminal people. Gun control will please many people. Gun control may anger many people. Many accidents were caused from guns and gun control will help stop many of these accidents. Guns sometime have power over people and they can’t control what they are doing. Many people use guns for protect and/or hunting.
There are many rising controversy’s in America today, but gun control seems to come up often. The controversy comes from the belief that guns lead to violence and a rise in fatal accidents. Research shows otherwise in this aspect. Guns shouldn’t be banned all together they should just be regulated more effectively and prevented from being attained illegally. Gun control is a positive thing to an extent, but should not be used to prevent the correct people from obtaining a gun.
