PACE SPEECH
I have always wanted to know if the type of soccer ball I use in my soccer games will help me improve in my skills. Do you think professionals check and do research on the type of soccer ball they use? Do you think using two different materialized soccer balls effect the distance the ball travels when a force is applied to it? Scoring a goal in a soccer game is a difficult thing to do, but what if you know what the material of a soccer ball is and how helpful it could be. Well the material used on a soccer ball may be more responsive off the foot than other types of material. If you go to score a goal from a further distance and you have the ball that is very responsive then it’ll go straight to the back of the net. If I test two different types of materialized soccer balls to see which ball will travel the furthest, then ball, PU (Polyurethane) will travel the greater distance, because this type of material is used more for outdoor, it’s tough and adapts to a wide temperature range. This way the ball won’t rip and tear apart, it will last longer than PVC (Poly Vinyl Chloride) material.

Although Polyurethane has good characteristics but Poly Vinyl Chloride also has some of its own. PVC is divided into hard and soft, it’s more affordable and durable, and it generally used in training, indoor, futsal and street soccer. Soccer balls use to be made from pure leather, which has more water resistance and is not protective, until 1970 they coated leather with PU, synthetic material to protect from damages and is more playable on wet
The original question was, “What is the effect of air pressure of a soccer ball on its bounce, ramp travel, and catapult travel?” The hypothesis stated that if a soccer ball is inflated to 5 different air pressures (namely 6.9 kPa, 31 kPa, 55.2 kPa, 79.3 kPa, and 103.4 kPa), then the soccer ball that is inflated to 103.4 kPa (15 PSI) will perform the best in all three tests: namely the bounce, ramp, and catapult travel tests. According to Soccer Ball World, higher air pressure correlates to further travel. This is due to that fact that higher pressure improves the rebound of the soccer ball off of a player’s foot, and less energy is lost to deformation on a stiffer ball. However, after experimentation, the ball that was inflated to 55.2 kPa
Football is probably the toughest sport out there and can cause life threatening brain disease such as C.T.E otherwise known as chronic traumatic encephalopathy. Not only can a football player get this disease, but also a concussion and injuries. With many people playing football for either high school, college, or even the N.F.L there can be serious consequences to playing this sport. Football is rough, but I wouldn’t be against teens playing this sport during their high school years.
In terms of the mechanical design we reviewed many published designs for soccer-playing robots. The necessary physical components for soccer-playing robots were the kicking mechanism (for shooting the ball), a dribbling mechanism (for travelling with the ball), locomotion, and a camera for determining the ball position. We found many designs from RoboCup, a major soccer robot competition, that used similar components and designs. For a kicking mechanism, solenoid-actuated bumpers were used in [1], dual solenoid-actuated bumpers were used in [2], and a spring mechanism was used in [3]. Designers of the kicking mechanisms stated their solenoid-actuated kickers took many design iterations to get the optimal output and their required size; however, they also stated that the performance of the resulting kicking mechanism was worth the time spent on design.
Can you bend it like Beckham? With the right training, skill, and knowing more about the soccer ball, the individual will! The soccer ball is a very interesting object. A soccer ball has to have a certain amount of air pressure in order to work properly. The air also affects the soccer ball’s flight. The soccer ball is also made of different kinds of material and has different sizes. In the next couple of paragraphs I will tell you more about a soccer ball and the air pressure.
In 1855, Charles Goodyear invented the first soccer ball made out of rubber. Charles was in jail for debts, but while he was in jail, he asked his wife to bring him rubber, and a rolling pin. There, in his cell, he made his first rubber experiments , kneading and working the gum hour after hour. If rubber was naturally adhesive, he reasoned, why couldn’t a dry powder be mixed in to absorb it’s stickiness? Perhaps the talc-like magnesia powder sold in drugstores? Out of jail, he tried, with promising results. After inventing vulcanized rubber, he invented the first soccer ball.
This soccer science fair project serves to acquaint students with basic information on how the amount of air in a soccer ball can affect the distance it travels when kicked with a consistent force. The greater the air pressure in the ball, the farther it will travel when a force is applied. In the process of conducting the research, the student will learn that atmospheric pressure may also affect how far the ball will travel. The student will learn about the relationship between air pressure and friction: the lower the friction, the farther the ball will go. The student will learn about concepts like air pressure, gravitational force, compression and expansion of air molecules, potential energy and kinetic energy. This science fair experiment
When and where the very first soccer ball was first made is impossible to tell honestly because we couldn’t communicate back then as we can now. But in 1836 Charles Goodyear patented vulcanized rubber. Before all this, you never knew what the ball size and shape of the pig's bladder was it was everyone was clueless until it was out of the pig. It would not be until the 20th century until about all the balls were made with rubber bladders. The following picture shows the Charles Goodyear ball that was on the display at the National Soccer Hall of Fame which was located in Oneonta, NY, USA.
I have innovated a prototype that may reduce the amount of damage in player-to-player situations. Introducing the padded soccer shorts (not just for the goalies but for the whole starting eleven). This concept decreases the amount of force taken when falling to the ground and getting taken out from the side. You may argue the point that these shorts do not help the longing amount, but lets face it, I would rather have my child, or me as a soccer player, have some protection rather than none at all. I can put confidence in these shorts by the fact that padding is beginning to be developed into a goalie’s kit. Goalies are by far one of the hardest positions on the field and for that matter, you have to keep them comfortable. Since they dive
A material that I think has made a major impact in sports today is artificial turf. Artificial turf first gained popularity in the 1960s when it was installed in the Houston Astrodome now known as the Reliant Astrodome and is used for sports such as football, lacrosse, field hockey, baseball, and soccer. Most artificial turfs installed today contain typically up to 9 layers depending on whether or not it's
Having been a chubby kid, I was always a bit intimidated by the realm of sports. Soccer balls led to sprained ankles and footballs caused concussions - all for what? When my friend asked me to come with her to the varsity lacrosse tryouts in freshman year, I agreed just for the sake of giving her company. Yet after picking up the basics and running a quick mile, I found myself on the field with a dozen other kids - somehow I had made the team!
Today in football, collegiate and professional, the officiating is expected to be perfect, but right now the officiating is very under par. The present day technology in football is getting more and more advanced all for the same reason ‘’To get the right call”. Unfortunately, even with the new review technology, the referees continue to “blow” calls which ruins the game experience for hundreds of thousands of football fans and athletes watching. And, at times, even makes the game dangerous for the athletes playing, y enraged fans that could become violent as a result. With all of the advancement in technology used in football, fans wonder when will they finally get “the calls right”. This is a major issue for both football fans and football players face.
The question I will be testing is, how does the temperature of a tennis ball affect how high it bounces? Why does this matter? Well it matters because you will know how to get the best results in playing a tennis match, and instead of wasting a bunch of tennis balls, you will understand why it will bounce high in some locations and not others instead of thinking you have a bad ball. Plus, when you are playing a match, you will know how to adjust the amount of force you use on the ball and how you play the game. Also, this can relate to many other things besides tennis balls. For example, you can use this in day to day situations, such as the air in your tires. My hypothesis states: if a tennis ball is colder, then it will have a lower bounce height because the molecules inside will not expand as much as a hotter climate would, causing the ball to bounce
According to this site, there are a variety of things to consider when it comes to materials. First up is leather, the oldest time tested material used in the sport. There are several advantages to using leather, but the first thing many people may notice first is the price. Yes, leather is going to be
The introduction of polymer based materials have made an incredible difference to the skill and performance of athletes who use them, and will likely continue to be developed and refined in order to produce more durable, superior sporting equipment. Along with the sporting equipment used by the athletes, safety equipment or changes made to sporting equipment will be constantly adjusted to continue to reduce injury and ensure the safety of all
The game ball for these sports very in ways more than one. A soccer ball is round for instance, better aerodynamics for cutting through the air. Also the round complexity lets the ball bounce, roll, and spin off of players. They also have six sided pads that are the surface of
