MATHS STANDARD LEVEL INTERNAL ASSESSMENT ELIMINATION OF DRUG FROM THE BODY So, the other day I was watching a show named Grey’s anatomy; it revolves around a medical perspective, this show basically premiers how a hospital works and its base that lies on the ground rule of saving people’s life. This somehow inspired me to study science in high school so that I could pursue some career in medical field and save someone’s life. Having thought of this I sat down wondering what I could possibly do for this assignment, and as I turned around , gazing at the T.V I saw that the nurse was giving some kind of a drug to the patient to relive the pain. This struck me and that’s how I came to a point of utilizing mathematical procedure in pharmacokinetics (the branch of pharmacology concerned with the movements of drugs within the body i.e. the study of elimination and absorption of drugs by the body).I will be evaluating how the drug that is administered to a patient is metabolised and eliminated? More concerns will lie towards the pathways the drug chooses to lose its concentration and I will even be looking at the rate of reactions of these drugs in the body. There are usually five steps in the process of pharmacokinetics: Liberation: Firstly the drug that is administered to the patient is released from the formulation. Absorption: The drug is then absorbed by the body. Distribution: The plasma helps in the distribution of the drug throughout the body. Metabolism: The drug is
5. Predict: How often do you think the patient should take a pill? Every 2 to 4 hours
The textbook pointed out that drug prevention and drug ________ might have different goals and use different approaches.
There is a big question floating in the air around a lot of people today,
Prescription drug abuse has become an epidemic in the United States especially among the youth of our country. The Partnership for a Drug Free America says that 2,500 teens a day abuse prescription drugs. Abuse of these narcotics can lead to serious mental and physical consequences. Why is this such a problem, what can we do to solve it, and how is it affecting our social lives?
Hi, my name is Gabi and I'm 13. I have been working on planning and pricing out feminine hygiene care packages. I was wondering if these were something that you would give out. If I can get this off the ground, I would want it to be an ongoing donation. I have the full support of parents and have attached my mom's email. Feel free to email either of us or call f you have any questions.
The abuse of methamphetamine is a very serious problem in the United States. According to one national survey, approximately 10 million people in the United States have tried methamphetamine at least once (Meth Abuse and Addiction, 2010). Methamphetamine is a highly addictive stimulant that affects the central nervous system. Although most of the methamphetamine used in this country comes from foreign or domestic super labs, the drug is also easily made in small clandestine laboratories, with inexpensive over the counter ingredients. Methamphetamine is commonly known as “speed,” “meth,” and “chalk.” In its smoked form it is often referred to as “ice,” “crystal,” “crank,” and “glass.” It is a

The state spent $493,000 on drug testing for this fiscal year. It received 32,511 welfare applications and referred 636 for drug testing. Only twenty came back positive, although nearly two hundred people refused to comply. But even if all 200 were drug users, that still comes to more than $2,200 per positive result, which is more expensive than the median benefit in the state. (Benen 1)
A. Absorption-"refers to the movement of the drug from site of administration into the blood stream.
Drug testing has been going on for a long time and they have been used for different occupations. They have been used for teachers, medical jobs, and even jobs people wouldn't think had to have drug tests. The sad thing is they are using them on students. When a person uses drug tests on students for no apparent reason, that's just basically torturing them. This is occurring all throughout America and is really pointless. A child would not want some person they don't really know seeing their personal information and knowing if they are guilty or not. Having drug tests for student athletes is not beneficial because of the Extreme Cost, the Mental Health Effects, and the Fourth Amendment.
Prescription drugs have been proven to be much worse than marijuana. The fuss people make over the legalization of marijuana does not make sense when one thinks about the effects that overdosed or misused prescription drugs has had. Overdosed prescription drugs kill around 47,055 people a year, and overdosed prescription drugs have no death record. The health effects of overdosed prescriptions are much worse when compared to overdosed prescription drugs. Also, the dangers of prescription drugs are portrayed as often and as correct as the dangers of marijuana.
Drugs cause an indescribable high, causing the imprisoned individual to be set free from their reality; however, that’s not only what drugs cause. About 200 million people around the world are drug users causing 250,000 deaths each year. Dependency on a drug then leads to a tolerance to the drug, and before the user knows it, they are addicted. Drugs are like a black hole that vacuums the user into a state of addiction which makes it even more difficult to escape and quit. However, addiction can also take place with any civilized human being. Caffeine, alcohol, and plastic surgery are just a few addictions that people let take over their lives. For someone to stop is quite brave due to several obstacles they are put through. The end of an

The line between public safety and the continuation of a high standard of privacy for all is a razor thin line; the United States government itself straddles it every day. Such is one very serious complication that the administrators and security forces of Coppell High School face: it is in the best interest of the administrators to prevent drug usage in the school as to stop the spread of any conflict (namely any characteristically delinquent behaviors such as interpersonal violence and school dropout) that they could potentially cause. However, it is also imperative to maintain some level of privacy so that students do not lash out against the administrators and school-wide morale remains fairly high. Numerous students and other relevant
Pharmacology is the branch of medicine and biology that seeks to understand drugs and how they affect the body. It involves the analysis of how drugs interact with the biological function of the body and how these drugs react with each other, their natures, and their properties. All drugs are considered chemicals and when ingested into the body an affect from the drug takes place. According to Doweiko (1999), “A drug is essentially a foreign chemical that is introduced into the individual’s body to bring about a specific desired response. There are many forms of drugs and how these drugs are administered in the body determines the kind of result that will take place. The Central Nervous System, (CNS) plays a major role in how these
