McCarthyism, also known as the second red scare, was primarily common in the 50s, and it was called as such because of the main influencer and creator of McCarthyism was senator Joseph McCarthy. Joseph McCarthy was a senator who conducted different hearings, or more practically ‘search parties’ to hunt down communists in the american peoples. He was responsible for the conviction of many people because of their ‘unloyalty’ to America. Anyone who was found to be unloyal was immediately accused of affiliation with communists. He was able to do such things because of the executive order passed by president Truman to screen all workers across the country for ‘loyalty’. Everyone was afraid of the spread of communism, and they all fought to get rid of any infectious communists. …show more content…

Other high ruling forces are treated similarly nowadays, such as how we fear North Korea. Communism is primarily seen as a thing of the past, aside from some places where it still resides with an iron fist. Places like China, Laos, Cuba, and Vietnam associate with communism. North Korea is primarily considered communist, though others disagree. Despite the many advances since then, we still suffer from segregation in many minority groups in many ways. Blacks are still oppressed quite often, though race mixing is not primarily considered communist anymore. Many people of other beliefs, politically, religiously, or just personally, often have scrambles of trouble with others. We are in many ways still controlled through fear. From the little cameras on stop lights to fake police car just idly sitting around, we are controlled by some fear. No one wants to get pulled over, so we usually try and go slow when we need to go slow, and be careful when we need to be careful. In many ways, we bond over fears quite a lot.
