Men and women all around the world put their life on the line just to make sure our country is safe. Memorial Day is the one time throughout the year when we honor veterans who died for us. When I think about all the sacrifices that veterans have made for us, I feel we all have to appreciate them more than we do. Memorial Day means a lot of things but to me it is a day which we honor all of the people who passed away while serving. They should be remembered for their good service because they kept us safe. First of all, celebrating Memorial Day is very important. This day means a lot to the people whose family members passed away. Siblings, aunts, uncles, parents, grandparents all around the world have sacrificed everything to keep us safe.
Honoring those that have served our country has been a long-standing tradition in one of the countries with the best militaries in the world. We even have an annual holiday celebrating those who have served where an entire day is dedicated to veterans in our country. But the question is often asked as to why we honor these veterans with their own day, and why they are treated with the utmost respect year round. I believe the answer varies from person to person, but the answer is clear to me.
Our flag stands tall and people say that it blows with the last breathe of every soldier who has given their life to our country. On the eleventh hour of the eleventh day on the eleventh month in 1918 an armistice occurred. This soon became a federal holiday in 1938. Veterans are important to our past and future because they stand up for what is right. They put their life on the line to help defend our country. Although they have families of their own, they have stepped up to defend everyone elses family in the U.S. too. Veterans fight for our country and we should be very grateful for them.
For many, Memorial Day is a day to grill to shoot fireworks, and to party, but if you suffered from a loss due to war, then you must see a different perspective. While the rest may view it as a day for celebration, you would see it as a day for mourning. Whilst others may not find much appeal to it, you may spend your day laying flowers at graves. What would be the meaning of Memorial Day to others?
Memorials that honor our veterans are some of the most important things that taxpayers give their dollars for. We live under a blanket of freedom that is made of the sacrifices
Well to begin, Veterans Day is a day to celebrate all the strong and brave U.S. veterans and victims of the World War 1, who have risked their lives for our freedom and safety today. Now on November 11, we as americans publicly celebrate this holiday on the anniversary of the end of the war. It is a time to ponder and really think about how far we have came in American History, and how much we have accomplished in a world filled with so much hate and crime. Instead of war, we fight for world peace and kindness to be spread. Though we are constantly at war with other countries, without our courageous soldiers and our fearless veterans, this country would be a different place to live in. A more cruel, unsafe, and terrifying place.
Despite the fact that only one day of the year is dedicated solely to honoring our veterans, our heroes,. I just want to say thank you for the sacrifices you and your families are making. For putting your lives on the line to protect the freedoms that we enjoy and for dedicating your lives to our country. Every veteran deserves to be recognized for their
I believe that we the Americans should not just thank the Veterans on a certain date but we should thank them everyday. People may not realize the struggle that the Veterans went thru to stand for the our country's. Everyday that passes by my family and I pray for the soldiers and the ones that serves our country. Without them we would not have the freedom we have today. I thank the people
Unfortunately, far too many Americans do not honor memorial day as they should. Some only know about it because you get the day off. Surely they would care more if they knew more about it. If they knew why it is celebrated and the history behind it. Not only that, but we should all honor memorial day to honor our beloved veterans. Americans should honor memorial day to honor our veterans.
how is your evening....hope you are enjoying a good memorial day weekend.......so far my weekend was good.....I am aware that you located near Louisville.....I have visited Louisville few times after I got stationed in ft Campbell.....Louisville just a bit over couple of hours drive from Campbell.....distance is not a factor for me....at the same note I don't want to pressure you ....if you are comfortable I would look forward to hear back from you...we can get to know each other and see how things fall in place.
Veterans day is important to me because it is where we see Veterans down the street and shake their hand and say thank you we don't get that opportunity that we almost never get so when you get a chance shake their hand. The thing that you served the most is for are freedom and for what we can do that you make sure we can go to school each day, go to a job each day. We have Freedom of speech and goodwill is useful because it helps to give children around the earth to get clothes to people that need it to survive the winters they get to have toys to play.Freedom of Speech it gives us a say in what we believe like a town meeting where everyone gets a vote or say in government.
Remembrance is important to many veterans, in many ways. Many veterans are having a hard time out of the military force because they don’t have the limbs or mental health to work a job. Remembering all of these people and acknowledging them can sometimes be hard, but these veterans will never forget a friendly smile or a thank you. The veterans that get a thank you or a friendly smile have an easier time living with their problems and stress. Remembrance also helps a
On holidays, we honor the great people who served our country, by hanging our flags in a memorial to them, a symbol of those who have passed.
The date is May 30th, 2016; Memorial Day. I, along with some of my friends, are participating in a scavenger hunt that has lead us to the cemetery in our hometown. After finding the item hidden in the maze of gravesites, I cannot help but notice that the two flags next to the military memorial stone are in disarray. Immediately, I run to the flags and begin to fix them on their thin wooden rods, slowly but surely returning them back to the state of honor they once were in. After I finish, I stand back to look at the small flags flapping in the wind and I cannot help but feel pride in the country I am so lucky to call home.
Remembrance Day is a time to celebrate the life and death of our fallen heros. This is a somber day, but for many it is a day dedicated to the their loved ones, who fought and died or fought and survived. World War Two claimed the lives of forty-five thousand Canadian soldiers and left over fifty-four thousand wounded, mentally and physically. It is a great honour to serve your country and those who have should never be forgotten now or a thousand years from now. They should be remembered everyday, not just one day a year. Without their sacrifice we would not bed able to express ourselves the way we can now. So please do not let their ultimate acts of bravery go in vain.
