What is mental illness? A Mental illness is any condition which causes disorders in a person's behaviour and/or thinking. 1 in 5 Australians are affected by mental illness. this means that 5-6 people in this classroom will have or have had a mental illness. Not to worry though, mental illness can be treated with the right medication, and with support from friends and loved ones. Mental Illness is usually not caused by the person, but is caused by Biological, psychological, and environmental factors. A Biological factor includes genetics, a psychological factor includes a loss of a family member, and an environmental factor includes a dysfunctional family.
