The Metropolitan Museum of Art is one of the world's largest and finest art museums. The main Neoclassical architectural style building is located on the eastern edge of Central Park in New York City, New York. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1986. It was founded in 1870 with a mission to collect, preserve, and display works of art. In 1866 a group of Americans gathered at a restaurant to celebrate the Fourth of July. After dinner, John Jay, a prominent lawyer gave a speech proposing that he and his compatriots decided to create a “national institution and gallery of art.” In the next four years, they convinced American civic leaders, art collectors, and philanthropists to support the project, and finally in 1870 the Metropolitan Museum of Art was incorporated. During the 1870s the museum was housed in two different locations in New York City, first in a building at 681 Fifth Avenue and later at 128 West 14th Street. In 1880 the museum moved to its present location in Central Park on Fifth Avenue between 80th and 84th Streets. The museum moved to this land to make a permanent home for the collections. This original Gothic Revival-style brick building, designed by Calvert Vaux and Jacob Wrey Mold, was opened to …show more content…
The overall aim of the expansion was to make the Museum's collections more accessible to the public, more useful to the scholars and, in general, more interesting, and informative to all visitors. The size and diversity of the artwork on display is even more impressive; the museum’s collection contains works from every part of the world, spanning the Stone Age to the twentieth century. The Egyptian Art gallery includes a whole temple that was shipped to America as a gift. The floor plans of the museum are very helpful for the visitors, despite their seeming complexity, though, the galleries are arranged to help them navigate through with
The Metropolitan Museum of Art is an extraordinary New York site. For me, the Egyptian exhibit is especially meaningful because it engenders personal pride in the contributions of my ancestors and challenges me to use my talents to impact society in a positive

When I was in fifth grade, our school had this little thing called the Wax Museum project. And, if it were not for my teacher guiding me, I would have never learned how to express my creativity, much less would I be here, typing this. In the Wax Museum Project, each person got the name of a historical figure, whom they would, firstly, create a poster board about, and, secondly, give a presentation about in front of other parents. It would work like a wax museum (thus the name), where we would stand still until someone dropped a coin in our jar, when we would speak our presentation. I got William Shakespeare, the well known 16th Century playwright. I did my poster board in a few days, not at all having any creative ideas, so I just got facts

When I stepped out of the car onto the freshly paved road, I instantly recognized the smell of asphalt that was paved onto the street moments ago. I could hear the jackhammers pounding into the ground, making the ground shiver as if it was cold and the sound of power tools grinding into metal pierced my ears. As I looked up to the sky, I saw cranes towering above me and mirrored skyscrapers reflecting the bright, blinding light. In the distance, I could see the Art Museum with hundreds of people racing up the steps like tiny ants. At the top, stood the Rocky Balboa statue and other structures, with bystanders modeling for pictures as if they were on the red carpet.

In the article, Japan, 500–1000 A.D. (Metropolitan Museum of Art), the main ideas of this article were that the Japanese civilization had a lot of resources from a new culture with China and Korea. They learned about a lot of the different types of art and medicine like, literature. The article states, “This new culture is essentially Chinese and includes literature, philosophy, art, architecture, science, medicine, and statecraft.” In this other article, Theater: Noh Theater (Encyclopedia Britannica), they have kind of the same idea. The writers of these articles both think that wars and other disasters did good to their community. China and Korea took a huge part in Japan’s medicine and the different forms of art, and the second article says
On both July 3 and July 6, 2015, I visited the Children's Museum of Lake Charles. With it being a holiday weekend, the museum was very busy. The children that I observed ranged in age from two to about fourteen with the majority being between the ages of four and eight. There was a wide range of diversity observed during my visit, as there were Asians, Caucasians, African Americans, and Coushatta Indians. There were many visitors from Texas, especially Houston. The art room was very popular because the children were painting flags for Independence Day. Some of the children were focused on their art and wanted to make sure their project was completed to the best of their ability. Others were trying to finish in a hurry to move on to other
The Metropolitan Museum of Art, colloquially "the Met", is located in New York City and is the largest art museum in the United States, and among the most visited art museums in the world. Located on 5th Avenue next to Central Park, this stunning museum contains over 2 million works of art ranging from ancient Egyptian paintings to recreated Spanish patios that highlight the Arabic influence in Southern Spanish cities such as Cordoba and Sevilla.
I found this to be interesting. I knew that lots of museums displayed many odd and unusual items especially history museums but I never knew there was a museum that had to do with the paranormal. Ed and Lorraine Warren are paranormal investigators and they chose to display items from their career of ghost-hunting and demon-busting in their own Occult Museum.
For my historical site, I visited the American History Museum in DC. I decided to attend this museum because it has a broad range of history from Colonial Times to present. But the main exhibit I attended was the Price of freedom pertaining to the time period of the Colonial Times to the Civil War.
