What is critical thinking? The definition of critical is expressing or analyzing the merits, and or work of literature. The definition of thinking is using one’s thoughts to consider or reason something. So what is critical thinking? Critical thinking is a concept that continues to develop over the years. In “Defining Critical Thinking”, it states the multiple definitions that form a substantive, transdisciplinary conception of critical thinking. Which state definitions given by Michael Scriven along with Richard Paul, Linda Elder, and Edward Glaser.

Michael Scriven and Richard Paul defined critical thinking as “the intellectually disciplined process of actively and skillfully conceptualizing information gathered from observation, and other thing such as experience or communication”. Which involves the examination of structures, analyzing points, purposes, and problems. She also stated the characteristics of people who constantly think critically. She stated that people, who are critical thinkers, strive to improve things such as their reasoning abilities to improve the world. Furthermore, these people recognize the Socratic principle “The unexamined life is not worth living”. Which is why they reason things in their life. Then, Glaser on the other hand defines critical thinking as “The ability to think critically involves three actions”. Which deals with an attitude being removed, knowledge of the methods logical inquiry and reasonings, and skill to apply these methods.
