3.1) Comparison Mike Ross, like most people has a driving force, everyone’s is not the same and that would affect the way one works and why they push themselves to a certain point or why some don’t .Motivation is the reason or reasons for acting in a certain way. Success is the accomplishment of a aim or purpose. So the meaning of motivation of success would be what drives a person to accomplish the aim that was set out for them. With that being said, Mike’s motivation to success is to make his grandmother proud and to fulfil his lifelong dream of being a lawyer. Unfortunately for Mike he made the mistake of becoming successful the unethical way and lied about graduating from Harvard Law school and didn’t. Due to this we see that Mike is a man that acts on emotion and also he is a man that does whatever he can to make those people happy. Mike’s motivation to success is more that of making his love ones happy so its external motivation. Harvey Specter is known as one of the best lawyers and as the best closer in Pearson Hardman law firm there is. He is a determined man that is obviously very good at what he does. In the beginning one can hear that Harvey was actually a mailman and had no real aspects for his life until Jessica Pearson took him in and saw the …show more content…
Different denominations of Christianity have varying worldviews. Both Harvey and Mike do not specifically mention what their spiritually beliefs are so they wouldn’t necessarily be living to the biblical view. In Matthew 7:12 it says, “so in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.” In that verse we can see that Mike would more so relate to having the biblical view in the way he does his job for he gets emotionally attached to the clients and strives to do his best not matter
The Lowell textile mills were a new transition in American history that explored working and labor conditions in the new industrial factories in American. To describe the Lowell Textile mills it requires a look back in history to study, discover and gain knowledge of the industrial labor and factory systems of industrial America. These mass production mills looked pretty promising at their beginning but after years of being in business showed multiple problems and setbacks to the people involved in them.
Firstly, Michael shows motivation through safety and security because he was told to think about defending his teamates just as if he would defend Leigh Anne and her young son he cares a lot about. Through belongingness, Michael works hard in practice in ordor to please Leigh Anne, his coach, and his teamates so they can win together as a team. Michael also has self-actualization when he begins to defend his quarterback and teamates only after Leigh Anne motivates him. She tells Michael that he can defend his teamates just like he defends her family. By telling him this, he realizes his self-worth and what he needs to do in order to help his team win. Lastly, this clip shows motivation through a cognitive view because in order to

In this summary, Mike has his eyes opened to the world, and he explains his feelings and emotions. He wants to make the point that, no matter the struggle, if people only keep pushing for what they want, they will achieve excellence. Going to school was something big for both Mike and Anthony, and both learned some very important lessons from their experiences during their enrollment. Also, there is a lesson that Mike also learned about how people are not going to use their minds, unless they try to experience the lives of others. People in everyday life are more distracted than they lead on to be. They need to open their eyes, and see what is right in front of them
Motivation is a very broad term that is discussed in a variety of settings. There is the motivation to perform in a business setting, the motivation to perform on the field of competition, the motivation to provide for friends and family, and the motivation to accomplish goals that have been set. These are all various motivations that any one person can be involved with at any time. According to Maslow, motivation always exists within a person and in various forms, “...motivation is constant, never ending, fluctuating, and complex, and that it is an almost universal characteristic of practically every organismic state of affairs” (Maslow, 1954). As complex as motivation seems, it is everyone’s intention to identify their personal
In the bible it says to ‘love one another as I have loved you’ in John13:34 and Proverbs3:3 ‘Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you, bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favour and good success in the sight of God and man’. If we analyse the verses we realise that firstly if we loved people as God loved us, we would want a just world, we would care for them and do everything in our power to help them. Mike demonstrates this in the way he genuinely wanted to assist the hopeless ladies in the pro bono case. Harvey only seemed interested in the money.
Mike Lupica a revered sports journalist, New York Daily News columnist and best-selling author sadly died this morning in his home of natural causes. He was sixty-four.
Motivation is something that we as human beings all possess. There is obvious levels of motivation, these levels make a substantial difference between a regular Joe and a multi-billion dollar executive. What drives a person to reach his/her full potential is motivation, whether good or bad. Sometimes tragedy as awkward as it may sound will provide
Jack served as more than simply a great teacher to Mike. As all the other kids were applying to college and preparing for the future, Mike was planning on working and maybe taking some night classes after he graduated high school. But once Jack MacFarland caught wind of that foul idea, he made some calls and pulled some strings and got Mike into Loyola University, even if just as a probationary student. What's more, when Mike was unsure of how he was going to pay for school, “Jack MacFarland was on the case” . He helped secure scholarships from Loyola and student loans to cover the cost of tuition. Jack helped open Mike’s eyes to a new and exciting world of knowledge. Jack showed him that there was much more, “provided a critical prospective on society, and it allowed [Mike] to act as though [he] were living beyond the limiting boundaries of South Vermont” . And soon enough, Mike would.
What is the real definition of success, in fact is there even a definition? Well, in the book Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell it is the story of success. Some successful people are born with talent, and skills. As others may have to put in hard work to get to where they are. Every successful person is different, which means there is no definition for being successful. Being successful is made of many different categories. Many successful people are born with talents, put in hard work, and are different from everyone else.
Having the desire to be successful is one thing but without the doing the little things you will never get there. Successful people are committed to doing something every single day. Regardless of what is going on in their lives they work on their craft. They overcome the daily battle between procrastination and motivation. Every day, most people have a list of things they want to do; need to do; or should do; and what they don’t want to do. It’s these daily choices that are influenced by our discipline and
Motivations are the fuel of our lives, we are motivated to do just about anything. Motivations both positive and negative are valid. Tennessee William’s “A Streetcar Named Desire” we are introduced to a very unique roster of characters, These characters are all very different and unique, throughout the play we see the struggle between the characters, and how they interact and conflict with one another. Stanley Kowalski, Blanche Dubois and Harold Mitchell are all very different yet very similar. Tennessee Williams develops the idea that, when one is motivated by the past, their actions may not be appropriate for their present environment.
According to the dictionary Motivation is an inner drive to behave or act in a definite manner. It is the important part in setting and attaining goals. Employers like Bill who ask questions but do not listen to the response and focusing on the minor details than finding positive outcomes are not
Motivation and theories -------------------------- 2.1. Definition and theory framework ------------------------------------ Motivation can be described as the driving force of individual behaviour to fulfill needs or achieve goals. Mitchell defines motivation as 'the degree to which an individual wants and chooses to engage in certain specified behaviours' (Mullins 2002:418). In terms of this definition, various theories have been developed around.
For this past independent reading assignment I read the book The Wave by Todd Strasser. This novel details the social experiment a high school history teacher, Ben Ross, performs on his students during a unit on World War II. After Mr. Ross shows his students a video of the tragedy that took place during the Holocaust and his students are relatively unaffected by it, he attempts to make them understand how people could turn a blind eye to injustice by starting his experiment, The Wave. Mr. Ross’s students do not know they are being used in an experiment, but the movement gains popularity across the school. One of the students, Laurie Saunders, realizes that The Wave has gained too much power. When Laurie receives a letter to publish in her newspaper
