“Heroes get remembered, but legends never die” (Sandlot). This quote perfectly represents Babe Ruth. George Herman Ruth was born in Baltimore. He was one of eight children but only he and his younger sister survived through infancy. He was a very troubled child and was unruly and disruptive. His mother and father were tavern owners and were always very busy with the business and that left Ruth without a constant father figure or role model. Ruth showed the human spirit of triumphing over adversity by turning his childhood around, being positive when no one believed in him, and by the end of his life, not letting cancer hinder him from doing what he believed in.
His main position was pitcher, but he also played as an outfielder. Babe started his baseball career in Baltimore, playing for the Orioles. He also played for other teams, such as: The Boston Braves, New York Yankees, and the Boston Red Sox. Babe Ruth hit about 2,873 hits and 714 of those hits were homeruns. Ruth’s first homerun was hit in 1933 at the All Star game in Chicago’s Comiskey Park. Throughout Ruth’s baseball career, he has received many awards. From 1933- 1934 he was on the American All Star League Team. In 1936, he was placed in the national baseball hall of fame.

Three world records in track and field events were set by her. She was unstoppable anything that she set her mind to she could do it. As a professional golfer she won 17 tournaments in a row. Unfortunately her journey came to a quick ending when she discovered that she had colon cancer and when she died at the young age of 45.
