As we all know, Modern Marvels was about the complexities and history of undergarments. The depth of information this episode pours out was exceptionally interesting to me. This educational video mainly explains the process behind sculpting undergarments people wear. Both genders can get something out of this video. As it explains the role of men’s underwear, women’s bras and panties, and socks. Beginning the segment with men’s underwear, the video explains how men wore tights that were open at the crotch. Way before the typical 21st century look (jeans and t-shirt). As men’s bottoms became higher and higher, causing awkward situations, the infamous cod piece was invented. The codpiece was a pouch, attached to a man’s breeches to cover the
After watching the video Precious Knowledge, the first example of ethnic studies being threatened/ facing elimination is that senate is passing bills like 2881 that act against diversity and programs that support and culture beyond what is sought to be “fit” in the American educational system. Programs that promote ethnic studies gives students the pride and knowledge of where they have come from and therefore they feel more engaged in the classroom. Leaders like Tom Horne have the right to their own opinion but are being oppressive by not embracing the culture of different ethnic groups. By not attending these classes and trying to relate to these diverse communities; he is creating a dystopia to the American youth. Political leaders should
Although there are many differences in fashion from era to era the similarities are outstanding. Some of the most repetitive pieces from era to era include corsets, robes, and codpieces. Codpieces were a very fashionable cover for the zipper of men’s pants that the weather men wore to make themselves more presentable. Codpieces are still very popular

They are a good luck charm from his girlfriend back home. Henry claims that the pantyhose bring him good memories. He sleeps with them like a security blanket and they 'keep him safe. ' While the stockings suggest female intimacy, which the soldiers no longer experience, they also suggest mystery. O 'Brien and the other soldiers are bewildered about the effects the garment has on Henry. They conclude that the stockings are 'magic. ' The stockings, thus, convey the mystique of the female sex, which has become increasingly foreign to the men in the platoon.
In the short video we were presented with, Myth Busters were attempting to venture off and hypothesize whether or not driving while talking on a cell phone was just as dangerous, if not more, than driving while intoxicated. The conditions used to to test this hypothesis are two individuals who were given three driving tests all on the same course, followed by analyzing the results of the driving exams. After configuring the data that they had obtained, they came to the irrefutable conclusion that, although both highly menacing, driving while on a cellular device was much more perilous than driving impaired. Like every other experiment, this too has an independent and dependent variable. The independent variable in this observation are the drivers
Yes, I know what you mean my children do the same thing as well. They are always talking about why do I have to do it and they don’t and after that they always end up saying that’s not fair. Children are very vigilant they notice everything and how everyone is treated differently. The video that professor Mundle posted was very beneficial not only is it good for the teacher to use but as well as the parents. After watching the video, I can explain to my children and future class about fairness I do feel it will be beneficial and the home or class will run
For this creative history project, I conduced a prezi about the progression of lingerie in the United States with my partner, Margret O’Connell. Since March is Women’s History Month, I figured this project would be very fitting. Lingerie is most commonly known as a sex symbol; however, in early American History, lingerie was more of an aesthetic. The first example of this would be the corset. Lingerie was pioneer by Lad Duff- Gordon who wanted to free women from more restrictive corsets. We found this project to be another example of women empowerment and not just portraying women as objects, which has been more of an issue in the current century.
In the science fiction film Gattaca, Marie and Antonio Freeman, parents of Vincent (the main protagonist) walk into the doctor’s office to design their second child. This is because want Vincent to have a brother, someone to play with. Even though this opportunity is coming close to exist, understanding the “good” and “bad” of making a baby can help decide whether or not to do it yourself.
After watching the two videos, I have realized how much I overlook math every day. Math really is involved in everything we do, see, and use. From construction, to baking, to architecture, to finances, to leaving a tip in a restaurant; Math is everywhere! I guess as I have gotten older, I do not think about math as much. I know that I use it when I go into a store or a restaurant, or when I am making a budget, paying bills, etc., but I never think about math when I see brick wall or a decorative walkway. The video reminded me that when I observe patterns or symmetry, I am actually observing math. I had forgotten all about symmetry, but after watching the video, I can remember being in math class when I was a child and learning about symmetry. I think that it is awesome that symmetry is found in nature. To me it shows God’s wonderful creation and His awesome ability to create beautiful and extravagant things. In fact, it seems that man has copied the works of God in his creation as well. As the video mentioned, we see symmetry in manmade objects such as flags, guitars, and windmills. What greater place to gather information than from the Creator of all things?
After reviewing the video, “How Difficult Can This Be” was a very insightful learning experience. Children with Learning Disabilities differ from “Normal” children in many ways. Mr. Lavoie gave plenty of examples of similarities and contrast. Learning Disabled children seems to process information in a two-step sequence. Though Normal children can process the question and answer at a significant amount of time, the Disabled child processes information in different avenues. A Disabled child could be given a question and break the question down like a who, what, how, why type question. Meanwhile as the Disabled child is still processing, the class has moved on to the next question. Since the class continues, the Disabled child tends to feel the class is moving on to quick. Both children can experience anxiety. Under minimum or severe stress children in general can gain anxiety in a learning atmosphere.
The particular clothing style was presented in the late 1870s. It gave the needed support and security to bike riders. The pouch was particularly planned with a specific goal to keep the shaft and scrotum far from the thighs subsequently, avoiding them from getting hurt. With the fame in that field, these athletic supporters were used
After, watching the short video spoken by Jean Kilbourne; which she stated a lot of things that made you think deeper into reality. Watching the video; she made some good points that stood out to me; such as Brad Pitt, Linda Evangelista, Lorde, and men and women who are photo shopped; to make it seem like they are something that they are not. As you continue to watch the video; Jean Kilbourne made opinion about gender. She believes that the media makes celebrities look like something they are not; which is causing children that are growing up to want to be someone they are not because they see it in the Ad’s, magazines, and commercials. As, I stated previous in the paragraph; one of the points that was made about gender. Was the Chance Ad

The music video for The Killers “When You Were Young” depicts the story of a young woman's tragic relationship through her flashbacks as she stands atop a mountain contemplating suicide. The video is set in present-day Mexico, which is shown by the Latino actors, and the costumes they are wearing that are relevant to Mexican culture. The video shows the woman's loss of innocence, adultery, love, faith in religion and God, and his punishment for those who sin.
At the beginning of the 19th century, underpants were just beginning to catch on as a ladies garment. That's right, practically every historical figure known to the world prior to 1800 was not wearing underpants, kings, queens, presidents and first ladies included! Underpants, then called “drawers”, hit the scene in the early 1800s as a ladies garment. Unlike what we think of as underpants today, the drawers of the time were nothing more than two tubes of fabric around the legs with a drawstring that tied at the waist. (Sanborn) At the time
