Yes, I know what you mean my children do the same thing as well. They are always talking about why do I have to do it and they don’t and after that they always end up saying that’s not fair. Children are very vigilant they notice everything and how everyone is treated differently. The video that professor Mundle posted was very beneficial not only is it good for the teacher to use but as well as the parents. After watching the video, I can explain to my children and future class about fairness I do feel it will be beneficial and the home or class will run
What is if fair? This is a question that constantly plagues my life as a parent and educator. Children often have a difficult time understanding that equity and equality are not the same; however, this concept is essential to effectively parent or educate children. The time and attention given to one child is different from another child dependent on individual need and the child’s level of independence with the task at hand. Educators first need to know their students’ background, past experiences, and level of understanding. From this knowledge, teachers need to create an individual learning plan that meets the needs of the learner through differentiated instruction. Finally, it is essential to include parents’ input in this learning process.
After watching the video Precious Knowledge, the first example of ethnic studies being threatened/ facing elimination is that senate is passing bills like 2881 that act against diversity and programs that support and culture beyond what is sought to be “fit” in the American educational system. Programs that promote ethnic studies gives students the pride and knowledge of where they have come from and therefore they feel more engaged in the classroom. Leaders like Tom Horne have the right to their own opinion but are being oppressive by not embracing the culture of different ethnic groups. By not attending these classes and trying to relate to these diverse communities; he is creating a dystopia to the American youth. Political leaders should
1.) What is one definition of culture from the sheet "What is Culture?" and what was an illustration/example of this definition that you found in the video?
Once upon a time there was a 13 year old girl named Emily Anderson who lived in Iowa with her 15 year old brother Jeff and their uncle Ben. It had been 10 years since Emily and Jeff's parents died in a car crash. Emily, Jeff, and their uncle Ben were all super heroes. Emily and Jeff had always questioned their uncle Ben about how they were superheroes, but he would always say they were very lucky but Emily is the special one in the family.
We all hear about what a teacher did on social media that was inappropriate all over the internet. But we never really hear about the good things. I read an article in Scholastic, about a teacher named Christopher Casal who a technology teacher for an Elementary school in Brooklyn that uses social media in his classroom and the kids are learning from it. Casal works as a technology teacher for the Magnet School of Math, Science and Design Technology. He has taught for many years and decided to bring Twitter into his classroom. Twitter is a social media website where you can make posts that contain 120 characters that can tell others in a few words are doing or thinking. Casal had the brilliant idea of bringing Twitter into his second grade
The person I choose to share to two videos with and talk to was my mom. Some of the statistics flashed across the screen astonished us. The fact that 43 percent live with basic sanitation was shocking to me. To Americans basic sanitation is something that is expected. If we go into a public restroom and see remnants of another person’s fecal matter we are up hauled and disgusted. To think the almost half the world does not even have a clean toilet. To me, it was a real eye opener.
A highway patrol officer in Ohio is being hailed as a hero. He saved the life of a truck driver after his semi-truck crashed. The officer's name is John Devers. There is a dash cam video that captured the accident, and the aftermath of it.
The Graeters video relates to what we have learned about business and change by showing us that change within a business is virtually inevitable. As times change and technology becomes more apparent, business must also change or use valuable resources to become more efficient to keep up with, or become more successful than the surrounding competition. Graeters experience with change was a bit different than that of other companies. Before technological innovations brought about the refrigerator and modern ice cream machines ice cream was a delicacy, it was something people couldn’t get every day or whenever they desired. In the times after though, many companies began to mass produce ice cream making thousands of gallons per day. Graeters
In the videos sports journalist David Zirin spoke about a common myth that sports and politics don’t mix. Zirin likes to point out that sports and politics are so imbedded into each other that we as fans don’t even notice. Sports seem to contradict themselves when there are constant militarism and patriotic acts being taken place at sporting events. Zirin pointed out military appreciation games where those in attendance had the chance to enlist at the game as a place where sports and politics mix. Zirin also speaks about how taking part in the game is often compared to war. The video had a football player speaking about the game he had just played saying it was a war and the other players were out to kill him and he was a soldier. By using these terms in a sports world, fans are exposed to a glamorized war and political terms. This becomes a form of
Globalization and American Media to me is the mass production of media that is released worldwide such as film, books, and anything dealing with social media. However, after viewing the video Professor Driver posted on Blackboard my definition is incorrect. According to Professor Driver, the United States does not have the strong influence I was familiar with however it is actually the reversed thinking. This idea is intriguing and would love to learn more about this and how exactly the influences are acquired. Finally, I learned from this video of what is expected from me as a student and what I can achieve with hard work.
Throughout his presentation, Hans Rosling shows that the rich and wealthy release the most carbon emissions, but they are often the ones telling Africa or another developing country they shouldn't begin using fossil fuels and other technology because it's hurting the environment. Rosling claims that the rich end look down at the "poor" people and say, "You cannot live like us, you will destroy the planet." Technology, however, is key to progressing out of poverty and developing. As shown in his graphs, the wealthy release the most emissions, but shake their finger at developing countries that are starting to use technology and/or burn fossil fuels. An example used in the video is Africa and the coal available to them to provide warmth and light.
After watching the Anat Baniel Method video, I must say I was totally impressed. Anat talked about the 9 essentials or requirements used in her method and what the brain requires to form new patterns. Once your brain starts receiving this information it starts forming patterns quickly and efficiently (kind of like a road map). It is a learning based approach to helping children with CP. Taking all of that into consideration I would have Michelle to lie down on a therapy mat and allow her to move on her own. Once she initiates the movement, I would gently place my hand on her to help cue her and to help her go very slow. (According to the ABM the movements must be slow in order for the brain to form these new patterns). I would also talk her
There are several characteristics which distinguish Dr. Marquardt from the twelve steps for Action Learning and the YouTube video. In the video, the introduction of Dr. Marquardt gives an extensive list of his accomplishments. And the process of how he began in the action learning process. Therefore, how it becomes the passion of his life. In the video, he addresses the child efforts the beginning and the ending stages of action learning. In the video, Dr. Marquart makes it more personal as shed some insight into personal life as well as his real-life business experiences. Hence, trying to keep the lecture simple to maintain the audience attention.
Within these articles and the video, I learned the importance of taking a break from your everyday life and looking into the things that go on within and round us. I never looked deep into being mindful of your surroundings until I read “The Power of Concentration.” This fascinates me that just by a simple minute of watching your breathing can improve your mental health. So many people become so self-invested they forget about the beautiful things around them. I will be definitely trying treatments out, for I can see them improving not only my mental health but my relationships with others as well. As for purposefulness, Simon Sinek made some valid points about the power of purpose. When people recognize and sympathize with the beliefs behind
There are many times when I have a hard time recognizing I am wrong about an issue, but it seems the older I get, the more I try to become informed about an issue before making a stance. If I am wrong, I do not have a problem admitting it. I try to use failure or being wrong as a learning experience. It won’t be any easier to admit that I am wrong after watching this video, I don’t have any problem admitting when I am wrong, as it is. As the video stated, “life happens”, and I have had my share of failures and being wrong. Through experience, I have learned to look at both sides of an issue, and many times I have changed my viewpoint after getting all of the facts. As the video relates to critical thinking, I think that we, as classmates,
