There are many different types of cells in the human body. These cells would not be able to function on their own, they are all part of a large organism that is called - you.

When I was 8 years old, the thoughts running through my mind should have been like any other 8 year old girl: going home to play my brand new Nintendo DS or playing house with my little sister. Reality was, I wasn’t a normal little girl. I was the girl whose life got turned upside down in a matter of minutes. No matter how much anyone tried to tell me, I knew a normal 8 year olds life didn’t include being surrounded by doctors 24/7.

The most commonly known gang in the area are the Bloods. According to many of the detectives in the office, they are the most vicious and most violent gangs they have ever encountered. State versus Gillens and Mercer are one of those encounters. The Bloods, or the United Blood Nation, was developed around 1972. The Crips were dominating the streets of L.A. and were battling with multiple street gangs. After a rumble with the street gang Pirus and murdering an L.A. Brim, the street gangs had enough of the Crip’s intimidation. They decided to unite all the street gangs which consisted of the Piru Street Boys in Compton, L.A. Brim, the Pueblos, the Bishops, Athens Park Boys, and the Denver Lanes. Soon enough they called their new gang the Bloods and took on the color red to show their opposition against the Crips (Savelli, 2002). In 1993, the Bloods made their way over to the East Coast and developed within the New York City jail system on Riker’s Island George Mochen Detention Center. It was formed as a means of protection for African American inmates from the Latin Kings (Savelli, 2002). Soon enough, the East Coast Bloods flooded out of the jail system and onto the streets of New York and New Jersey.

We went back to FOB McHenry after the Medevac arrived. We never caught up with the rest of the elements, so we were never even a part of the main effort. My vehicle had to be towed to the FOB, so we received a ride from another platoon. Once we got back there my Senior Scout took me to go look at my vehicle in the maintenance bay. There was a hole exactly where the TC seat was. The pieces started to come together. I couldn’t push through the kill zone because the battery box is under the TC seat, so with the battery gone, we weren’t going anywhere. We had never been blown up on a dirt road, it has always been on a main route, and it usually came from the side of the road, never underneath. This was a game changer for us.
