Under her directions, all executives were pushed to challenge all-comers and scrapped the posture in which queries were often dismissed with a flat “no comment” response. She was quick on unleashing her “inner pit bull” on critics and reporters ((Disney Case Study – Corporate Spokesperson, “2004, Running Disney’s Word Machine,” Page 9). She even went against the proxy advisor glass, Lewis & Co by publicly stating it as “an upstart company that is trying to grab publicity.” She is tough even with the top management at Disney and known for difficult relationship with Fred Dicker, a New York Post Editor who described her as the “Jack Kevorkian of Public Information.”(Disney Case Study – Corporate Spokesperson, “2004, Running Disney’s Word Machine,” Page 10.)
No doubt she is a successful professional and a powerful woman who has created some enemies along the way such as the journalist who may not have adored Mary Doe throughout the way. In my opinion, her approach is effective to keep Disney out of negative publicity as Disney is still considered as the best-known companies in the world. Her experience has saved the company during crisis management and has helped the
Rather than looking at Disney as a place of magic, Janet Wasko examines Disney as a corporation, which is known to be the largest entertainment corporations
As the largest media and entertainment conglomerate in the world, and aside from its constant “Imagineering”, Disney has a tremendous

A lot of turmoil has been brewing through the company over the last four years; many people are hoping that this change in leadership will put Disney back on the road to success. Issues began around mid-2002; when declining earnings, fleeing shareholders, and
The Disney Corporation knows that internal communication is paramount to its success. Disney facilitates internal communication at every level, exhausting all methods. Life at Disney had been lived at the head of the industry food chain. Now, there were the long waits to see if her calls got returned. “There’s a particular quiet that can settle over a producer’s office that took a long time to get used to,” she says from her LA office. “I found it lonely and
By hiring Frank Wells as Disney’s COO and President, Michael Eisner as CEO and Chairman, and Jeffrey Katzenberg as head of the film division, Disney was able to begin the transition from their greatest downfall to their greatest success. These three men were ready to lead the company to avoid the same mistakes it had made in the past. Although, Disney was looking to hire new leaders to steer the company into the right direction, they wanted to make sure that the new personnel was qualified and fit for the job. When it came time to hire Eisner, Schneider, a Disney’s first
Since its humble beginnings in 1923, the transformation and transition of The Walt Disney Company has been staggering. The ability of the organization to integrate and excel in so many business areas is admirable and should be respected on many levels. Michael Eisner’s crucial role in the turnaround of the organization since his arrival in 1984 is valued on many levels, but over that last few years, he has taken many missteps in properly managing the organization. Although Eisner often vocalized his want for Disney to effectively “manage creativity,” the strategy he implemented while CEO did not reflect this want, and over time dismantled the creative core of Disney, and essentially depleted all the synergy that he had created in his early

In recent discussions regarding Disney’s growing franchize, a controversial issue has been whether Disney’s stories and products encourage children to follow strict gender roles. In this regard, some argue that Disney is wholesome and innocent, and only wants to make animated films that every family has the opportunity to enjoy. On the other hand, however, others argue that Disney is a corporation, whose ultimate goal is to spread their brand and make a lot of money. In the words of Michael Eisner, CEO of the Walt Disney Co., “We have no obligation to make history. We have no obligation to make art. We have no obligation to make a statement. To make money is our only objective” (Mickey Mouse Monopoly). According to this view, Disney has
The material covered in module five was much more concise than module three. When reading the sections in module five I found that the “Leader Influence” chapter clearly had a deeper meaning to my way of thinking than the other chapters did. This chapter clearly defined the ideology of being a good follower and a good leader. As I read through the chapter and had discussions in class, I was able to identify times that I had failed in both roles and different thought processes that would allow me to adjust my follower and leader styles to ensure that members both up and down the chain would be gaining a better product from me.
The Disney Corporation is a leader in both the family entertainment and the movie media industries. They are internationally acclaimed for their amusement parks and resorts, media networks, studio entertainment, and interactive media (Bahera, 2012, para. 1). Disney established its core values from the beginning, and they are still lived today. Since Walt Disney’s departure in 1966, Disney has had several leaders, including the current CEO, Bob Iger, who have duplicated Walt’s style and have
I first met M’lyn while working for the Walt Disney Company this past spring and was immediately impressed with her work ethic and positive attitude. M’lyn was always going above and beyond when interacting with guests and showed tremendous flexibility while continually supporting her fellow cast members. M’lyn always gave the job at hand the utmost attention to detail, while always putting her superb communication skills to work.

As an administrator, I will not stand by and have my students harassed and bullied by other students or anyone. The emotion’s Julia is feeling is deserved because being a target for harassment isn’t something easily dealt with emotionally. We have discussed her IEP in the past and her not being able to concentrate in class will cause more problems so I think it’s important to address this serious situation so it doesn’t affect her student achievement. She is clearly being harassed by this behavior and in the state of Indiana that is not taken lightly. “Harassment (IC 35-45-2-2) A person commits the act of harassment, a Class B misdemeanor, when that person, with the intent to harass, annoy or alarm another person but with no intent of legitimate communication: Uses a computer network or other form of electronic communication to: Communicate with a person; or transmit an obscene message or indecent or profane words to a person” (Indiana Dept. of Ed, 2014). As the administrator it’s important to investigate each case thoroughly to ensure the safety and well-being of the students at my school. For Julia, I would use the state and district policies to best handle her situation so that we can find out who is doing this and give them the appropriate punishment. It’s an important goal of mine to ensure the safety of the students and I want them to feel like the school is their safe zone.
