Throughout history music has been a powerful tool that has affected everybody in unique ways whether it be by sending a strong message or just provoking a variety of different emotions. Music has been a big part of my life since a very young age. It has helped me work harder in all aspects of my life, taught me to appreciate everything in life no matter the scale, and optimize my creativity. Musicians are always told to spend a lot of time practicing and rehearsing from a young age, but it is not as often that musicians are taught how to practice. My sophomore year, I had a jazz teacher who spent a lot of time teaching us how to practice, and although these skills he taught us were specifically related to music, I found that these skills transitioned into all areas of my life that I wanted to improve and achieve success. Practice isn’t just simple repetition of something, but it is like the roots of a tree; although you can’t see them, they are responsible for the basic life of the tree. In music, the audience will never hear you practice, but without it the performance would be a complete failure. In order to really improve you have to find motivation and passion while keeping a strong focus. After learning this, I found myself improving in many areas of my life such as academics. I began to actually take interest in what I was learning and studied with a strong focus. As a consequence of learning these skills, my grades improved, I became a better musician, and developed
Music has been enjoyed for centuries by people of different cultures, languages, and religions. It is used for general enjoyment, as an outlet for relaxation, and as an auditory distraction from the stressors of daily living.
Throughout my life, no single thing has had a greater impact than music. It has made me who I am today, and I cannot remember a time when music wasn’t a huge part of myself - my earliest memories all contain the music that my parents played. Beyond being a product purely for enjoyment, as it was for a long time in my earliest years, music has gone on to become a fundamental part of who I am, how I spend my time, and who I spend that time with. It motivates me to be better for numerous reasons. I credit my early involvement in music with most of the successes I have had to this date.
Music is a key factor in my life, now and has been for as long as I remember. Music is one thing that can control my mood and emotions unlike any other. The sounds and melodies of the composition have the potential to sway my moods from a dark gloomy state all the way to a joyous and soothing harmonic atmosphere. Music allows me to control how and what I want to be, or represent. Music is almost like picking out a favorite outfit. When one picks out an outfit to wear they most likely pick an outfit that expresses them and how they are feeling at that direct moment. They have the ability to change shoes, accessories, or their hairstyle to make it
Music has been known throughout time. It can help us through everything. There are so many solutions with music to help a person go through so many situations. Music can affect many people in many different ways. Without music some people would be lost and would have no motivation. Music can provide inspiration and insight through education. Music has influence on suicides, killings and shootings, and provocative actions. It can also influence good morals, respect, allowing differences, health, and much more. Music can come in many forms and categories and music is very good for the world.
Practice can be the key to improving. In every area of education, in every sport, with every musical activity, anything that requires a good performance, those who practice tend to understand the material more. Malcolm Gladwell in his book Outliers states just how important this can be. Going off of the idea that “practice makes perfect”, his entire second chapter is dedicated to persuading his audience to believe 10,000 hours is what it takes to succeed. Examples Gladwell provides include how Mozart didn’t create his greatest works until later in his life after he had gained experience, how the Beatles performed in multiple practice concerts in Hamburg, Germany before becoming musical sensations, and how Bobby Fischer and chess grandmasters
Music, in all its complexity can be seen as a living, breathing mechanism that has the ability to sink deep down into one’s soul and create feelings of awe, excitement and wonder. Music speaks to and connects people of all cultures, backgrounds and ideologies, creating a common bond between various members of the human species. When listening to a beautifully composed piece of music, I myself cannot help but feel connected to the instruments, the artists and the composer. It has been my experience that music not only helps me learn, but also helps me grow.
Music is another language people use whenever they want to express their feelings. Whether they are angry or passionate, there is always a melody for that emotion. It is universal and it brings people together. There are so many amazing artists that have a substantial influence on this generation and past generations.
Music is an art form that appears in every culture of the world. For thousands of years it has been an important part of the human experience. Music can stop wars and create love between two individuals. The powers that come with music can be very useful or very destructive to our world. Music is a way to bring people together and create happiness between these individuals. The importance of music to this world is that it can honestly make or break so many things in life. It’s the reason that they’re so much peace in this world even if there is war between each other. The peace that it brings the hatred and war that is already in this world.
Music is interpreted differently from around the world but to me, music is motivational and inspiring. It’s a way to express emotions and a language that cannot be put into words. Music creates an avenue for empathy and a new understanding and it is part of my lifestyle. Music always gives you company when you are bored or in the shower. It gives a meaning and purpose to life. Music is important because it is the key to creativity.
Berthold Auerbach once said, “Music washes away, from the soul, the dust of everyday life”. No one really knows when music first appeared in this world, but we do know that music has been among us for a very long time. Some define music as a bunch of notes put together to make a song, but I say it is so much more than that. Music is a way to tell stories, share emotions, a way to bring people together. It is part of who we are as people. It is in our culture, our religion, and it defines us. It helps us remember the many wonderful memories from our past and helps us imagine an amazing future. So you see, it is important to make music a part of your life.
Music influences everyone on this earth. The sounds and lyrics working together can make a person feel like he or she are on top of the world. Numerous emotions can spill out of a human being when he or she hears a certain melody or beat. Music is powerful and a strong escape from any stressful situation. Bob Marley says, “One good thing about music: when it hits you, you feel no pain”. Although I live a very privileged life, I have dealt with many stressful situations where music was helpful. Transitioning from junior high to high school is difficult and this change was extremely overwhelming for me. Instead of allowing the stress to overtake my well-being, I used music to guide me through the hard times. More specifically, Ellie Goulding, Adele, and the group, Coldplay, have influenced the way I act, and they helped me persevere through the transition from junior high to high school.
Music is something that can impact a person’s life in a negative or positive way. Ways it impacts my life is by how it helps me exercise, how it tells my story, and how it helps me relax.
Practicing for hours and hours on end could never bother me when it’s what I’d do till the day that I die. My love for the concept and work of art exceed any other form of love known to me. Through music my morals of kindness and understanding and beliefs were established. Through music my hard work ethic and responsibility was developed. Playing music goes far beyond pressing buttons and hitting inanimate objects, it guides you for life after you walk out the concert hall or practice room. Anything related to the design of music intrigues any musician as the complexity fascinates even the most advanced
Music is shared around the world on a daily basis. It is integrated into billions of lives and cultures, including my own. All around the world, many people are coming into contact with music. They may not know it, but music has impacted their lives the moment they first heard it.
