When searching for meaning or sense of placement it’s alright not to know what your purpose is, we all live life searching for our calling. What doesn’t break us only makes us stronger and each individual will take what life gives them and interpret it in their own way. We could have the same experience but interpret it in different ways. The struggles and hardships that I have had to go through as a man has changed who I am and how I perceive things. In my paper I would like to discuss my personal, academic and career related goals based on the way my life has been shaped so far.
My dream of once becoming a college soccer player or even having college paid for by soccer is no more. Which made me realize that soccer is not everything, luckily

I plan to graduate with my associates degree from Valencia in two years. After Valencia, I will apply to UF and FSU to further my education in Healthcare. After acquiring my Bachelor’s degree, a Master’s degree will follow, along with an internship in the Healthcare department. Getting the degree itself will be an accomplishment for me, but part of my academic goal is being in the top percentile of my class. I want to graduate with honors, and push myself to be the best I can be, in order to provide the best and most knowledgeable services to someone who is under my …show more content…
While in Nemours my P.A at the time was named Christopher, he made sure I understood what was going on and made me feel comfortable by explaining all the procedures that were to come. The job of P. A’s is to examine patients, take medical history, perform and interpret the tests as well as be the caretaker of the patient, and my goal is to become a P.A that they can trust with their physical, mental, and emotional hardships.
In conclusion, my personal goal of building connections with others and my academic goal of graduating with a master’s degree will help me land my career goal of becoming a physician’s assistant at Nemours Hospital for Children. Valencia will further help me and prepare me for what’s to come. Valencia will also provide me with the essential education I need to accomplish all of my goals. To conclude, my support system will continue to help me take strides towards my future and the success that comes with it. Especially with everything that I have gone through there is nothing I can’t
Up until two years ago I had no idea what I was going to study in college let alone where I wanted to go. All I knew was that wherever I ended up I wanted to pursue playing the sport I love at a very competitive level. Tearing my ACL has allowed me to realise that I do not need to play soccer in college but that, I can seek a career in the sport by educating kids on how to prevent a major injury such as a ACL tear.
of achieving our purpose in life can be a daunting but awarding task. Christopher McCandless
Working alongside physicians, I have seen over 5,000 patient cases and documented each individual history of present illness, review of systems, physical exam, medical decision making, and diagnoses. I have viewed hundreds of X-rays and EKGs and recorded physician interpretations. Observing and charting specifications of emergency room procedures provided a stimulating element-- from an application of a sugar tong splint on an athlete for an acute ulnar fracture, to a scalp laceration repair on an elderly patient after a fall. One of my most exhilarating cases is seeing a PA save the life of a COPD patient as he performs a chest-tube insertion for a pneumothorax. Furthermore, my predilection for the PA role is corroborated by the aspect that PAs get to spend more time with patients. In one particular scene, a compassionate PA offers a heartfelt consultation to a suicidal veteran with PTSD. These invaluable experiences have markedly expanded my medical knowledge base and further bolstered my interest in the role of a physician assistant.
I did not know what a “PA” was, but I was dubious that an assistant could diagnose me. However, not only did he diagnose me, but he treated me so well that I elected to see him over the Wisconsin doctors I had seen previously. Unlike the doctors, the PA was calm, competent and caring. This was the first hint at the fact that PA was the career choice for me.
What is the importance of goals? Do goals help you plan out your future? Or possibly give you something to work for? To me goals provide a map of what I want to do, how I’m going to do it, and why I want to do it. Goals also provide a sense of accomplishment when you finally get to finish whatever you’ve been working towards. The need for goals in life is clear, because without goals, we wouldn’t get much done. Simply because of the fact that there wouldn’t be anything to work towards, and no structure to our future. One of my most important goals is to graduate college, to get a career in psychology. This goal is extremely important to me because of the fact that not many people in my family have even finished high school.
I have been working on my academic career for many years now. I am currently in my third year of community college, and have come across multiple teachers who have helped and inspired me in many ways. A teacher not only teaches the content of their course, but life skills as well. They are kind, caring, considerate, and understanding of their students. A teacher who goes above and beyond for their students is one that will make a difference. One teacher who I believe has made all the difference to me, was my accounting professor.
Every student athlete dreams of playing the sport they love in their future, whether it is in college or even to go play as a professional. I have played other sports in my life, but soccer has always been my favorite sport. I decided to drop every other sport I was in to play soccer. It was a pretty hard decision because I really did like playing other sports, but I really wanted
In aiding my education, I will be able live my dream of touching people’s lives that matter most to
From one week to another I started feeling so much pain in my back I honestly did not know what it was I tended not to pay attention to it that whole week. Until at the end of the week it got to a point where I couldn't move nor stretch that was when I realized my high school soccer career would end. I played soccer as a freshman and as a sophomore I always tried my best I was ready for soccer this time and I had just gotten back from a Europe trip which made me learn new things about soccer. My goal for high school was to be able to play all four years since I had already made the team freshman year.
It's finally time. The moment I choose what college I will be attending. This is the moment where my life changes and I start my college career. I knew I wanted to go to a community college and eventually transfer to a university after getting my degree. I had a list of options, Macomb Community College, Oakland Community College, and Mott Community College. Mott was the first one to get the boot. Mott doesn't have the exact program I was looking for. The career I am pursuing is a legal assistant or also known as a paralegal. Oakland Community College sounded like the school for me. I am moving to Rochester Hills after high school so the location was ideal. I know people who attend the school so I could get some extra help if needed, and It's not expensive. Once I did some research, I realized that Oakland's paralegal program is at
Deciding on a college major is huge, but what's even greater is the variety of career paths available through Liberal Arts. I went this route because it didn't limit my choices or pigeonhole me into one option. I've changed my mind a few times, but at the same time, I am learning the sociocultural skills needed to work anywhere. Baker and Baldwin (2015) emphasizes “exposing its students to a breadth of disciplinary and interdisciplinary experiences; helps them develop strong analytical, communication, and conceptual skills; and encourages them to engage in social and political issues to develop their attitudes and skills as effective citizens” (p.253). This is a positive argument against critics who constantly bash the ongoing staying power of the Liberal Arts program.
Iv'e always been a fanatic of soccer. My dream since i was little was to be a proffessional soccer player. Im still trying to make this dream come true. Don't know how to feel right now since im not living my dream. I know patience, hard work, and dedication is needed. Sometimes we just work to hard for something we want. I don't think im a perfect player. All i know is that i still am training myself to become a better athelete each day. Training in the gym for about 4 years and still am. People don't get why I workout alot and train everyday. They don't know how bad I want my dream to come true. Soon with the help of god ill be abke to play college soccer and go higher to the next level soon. Istay positive and stay motivated each day. Its
I have given a great deal of thought to the next leg of my academic and career journey. As I reflect on the road I've taken to get this far, I realize that I have not only learned a lot there were many late night papers, team projects and plenty of reading I have also grown a great deal on a personal level. I think that the best part of reaching this juncture is the realization that I set a goal and achieved it. It is a good feeling of personal triumph. I know that once my degree is officially completed and conferred it will be an accomplishment that can never be taken away.
The question “What do you want to be when you grow up?” meant so many things throughout middle childhood, adolescence, and was even relevant in adulthood. My interests varied from law, to education, and even construction for a period. It took most of my lifetime and lived experiences, up until very recently, to actually figure out, make a decision, and follow through, with my true occupational goals. This paper will examine my current career path and goals. It will investigate the results of the O*Net Interest Profiler in which I participated, and how they compare to my current occupational goals. Finally, it will discuss gained insights and further resources for future career exploration.
I have chosen a career as a paralegal. This is a field that I expect will be both challenging as well as professionally rewarding. As a paralegal, I will assist attorneys in the delivery of legal services (National Association of Legal Assistants, 2008). A career in paralegal studies is a prestigious, professional adventure and offers a wonderful opportunity while enhancing ones knowledge of the law and provides for challenges, growth and advancement.
