It was not until I went to a physical therapist that I was given a chance to get the medical care I needed that led to a corrective surgery. Once I was healed, I continued playing sports as my family instilled a love for athletics that will never go away. A drive that pushed me through my 14 year soccer career that was a large factor in who I am today. These experiences gave me a form of discipline that has carried into my college career which began at Adrian College, but an injury I suffered during my senior year in high school ended my time on the field, and my inability to play soccer at Adrian College. …show more content…
For the remainder of my time at Grand Valley I hope to accomplish two goals. I want to graduate within the honors college, and earn a final GPA of 3.8. Beyond my time spent in the university my professional goals vary at the moment. I would love to be a university’s physical therapist for their athletic teams, but I realize this isn’t the most realistic option as these positions are not easy to come by. Another option that I have recently been considering is to work in a clinic two to three days a week, while also working as a professor at a university. This idea of becoming a professor has continued to grow on me as I take more classes each year, and see the value of a professor who remembers what it was like to be a student

The thought of being able to create something, to bring into reality an idea that originated from the imagination, has caught and kept my attention since I was in elementary school. When I was young, I seemed to have a knack for taking things apart and putting them back together. Whether I was trying to fix a CD walkman or looking at the inside of an old computer, I genuinely enjoyed analyzing the different components of an object and learning about what made it work.
The last few years in high school, I told myself I was going to pursue a major that will benefit me no matter the career path I took in life. I was determined to be different from my older siblings. I composed letters, essays, and papers dedicated to the future me and in every one of them, I envisioned the perfect four years of life in college and the start of my success. However, as the first year in college flew by, I no longer had the confidence I once did and the word success found its’ way out of my life. I took courses I that did not interest me, in hopes to find my passion. Then, finally I found myself again within the halls of the business department. I quickly grasped onto the opportunity and walked through
My college career was not very easy as an international student. I had to move from my country to the USA leaving my family and friends behind, once, in the United States, the adjustment did not go well. I was feeling lonely I had no friends at that moment had nobody to talk to or to share my feelings with, I had homesick still having it. I knew I had to be strong physically and mentally to fit myself into the American life, learn the language, and the culture. I kept on working hard and had in mind that I came here to pursue my studies and make my parents proud and I will be successful.

My career objective is to instill self-advocacy skills for youth in order for them recognize that although there are many difficulties in life, there are just as many solutions if you are willing to work for it. I want to continue working within a school as part of a team to encourage and support the development of all adolescents. My long standing life objective(s) is to slow down, help others, and let go of my need for perfection! I am a quick learner and I like to do things “right” so that the result is “perfect”. I am learning that my strengths and weakness are interchangeable. While it is good to be a quick learner, it may not be if I get frustrated with others who do not learn as fast as me. Every day I ask the God of my understanding

This fall, I will be the first to attend college out of my family. My parents have tried over the years to build up my college fund. Because of different unfortunate events that we have come across with, the money available for me to attend college is not as large as required. This really puts a lot of pressure into my parents and myself. I consider myself an excellent student and I have my future well planned out. I know that my parents not only have to worry about how they are going to pay for my college, but also for the future education of my two younger siblings. This scholarship will help me achieve my ultimate goal of becoming a surgeon.
