My Dragon: A Fictional Narrative

Logan flicked on his flashlight and pointed it to the ground, “ It looks like there are footprints going towards the tunnel”.

I stared down at the dragon, while Kheiron floated in place his soft fur rippling as he sang mysterious melodies concerning the place and it’s magic and chanted about the kingdoms secrets. His words worked their way into my mind.

He noticed with disappointment that there were only three dragon eggs left. His chance of one hatching for him had gone down dramatically. Then he noticed that out of his five closest friends, four of them had little dragons. He was sad to learn that Brom had not made it, but it gave Eragon more of a chance to get one of the eggs to hatch for himself. Eragon walked up to the table with the dragon eggs, and with a feeling of dread, he put his hand on the green one. After about ten seconds of nothing, the Rider said, “move along”. Eragon was disappointed, but he moved on to the blue egg. Again ten seconds passed, the Rider was about to speak, but then the egg shook. Then it shook again. After a full thirty seconds of nothing, Eragon sighed and moved on to the last egg. This egg was bigger than the others and bright red. The Rider spoke, “ This is the last egg we have for now. It’s a red one, so these dragons are magically the strongest, so I doubt it will hatch for you.” Eragon blushed, but he put his hand on it. After just three seconds he saw a flash of red, then his palm was burning. The top part of the egg shell burst open and a dragon, the size of a small cat, came out. Not any dragon though, my dragon, thought Eragon. Eragon burst into laughter as his dragon climbed onto his shoulder, it's talons barely digging into him. He could sense some of the thoughts of his dragon in his mind and discovered the dragon was a boy. He named him

Though she knew Sylvia’s creatures could smell her, she didn’t let it faze her. She still had an advantage while being hidden. Sylvia laughed as the ink dragon opened its mouth. An orange light illuminated the inside of it’s mouth growing brighter by the second. A continuous flamethrower emitted from the dragon’s mouth, setting the trees around her ablaze.
