Comparing and contrasting Not My Best Side and Warning
Not my Best and Warning are about stereotypes and how these poems go against that. In not my best side the stereotype is that the three characters are meant to go with their roles, good the knight, bad the dragon and helpless the princess but don’t. In Warning the old woman is going to go against society by wearing clothes, which do not go, and buying items, which are useless.

Then the knight comes along her first impression was “what was underneath the hardware?” she is saying about how you could see everything about the dragon but not the knight he was covered in armour. The knight could have acne, blackheads or even bad breath. She says but the dragon got beat by the knight and she got to think of her future. This means she fancied the dragon but now he is dead so she may as well have the knight as she might as well get something out of it. She has to choose the second best.
The knight starts by saying how good he is “I have a diplomas in dragon” then he starts about how good his items are special like his custom-built spear and prototype armour still on the secret list. Even this horse is special it’s the latest model with automatic transmission and built- in obsolescence he treats his horse like a car. At the end he asks four rhetorical questions to emphasise his control they are “So why be so difficult?” “Don’t you want to be killed and/or rescued in the most contemporary way?” “That sociology and myth have designed for you?” “You are endangering job-prospects in the spear and horse building industries?” Unlike the dragon and the princess he is staying with his role and telling the other two to do as well. His tone is im the best and the princess should just love him at once and the dragon will die a painful death with him still looking cool and calm. “Warning” is
One day a dragon hunter enters town and fearing for the dragon’s safety, the girl frees the dragon, but the dragon is adamant that he won't leave until he gets the dragon stone. The girl gets the dragon stone and flies away with the dragon. The dragon explains that the girl is the divinely selected individual and is the new dragon keeper. The girl who by Danzi (the dragon) is named Ping, thinks she isn't ready for this and tries to leave but she feels wrong. The dragon must travel the ocean and they face many adversities on the sojourn. Ping and Danzi travel through many towns to get
Bravery is not inherent, it is rather acquired from the circumstances or situation faced in the life. People face lot of problems in their lives and to cope with those situations and move in with one's life is the sheer example of being brave. The same has been depicted by both the authors in their respective books. First by Kaye Gibbons in her very famous book "Ellen Foster" where in the protagonist is shown as homeless girl with no one to take care of, yet she finds a way to live her life and find herself a house worth living. Second, by Mark twain in his
Dead or alive is how this princess wants her lover, in order for their love to stay together. The author also states, “Would it not be better for him to die at once, and go to wait for her in the blessed regions of semi barbaric futurity?” (150). The green semi barbaric princess feels that her happiness is much more important than the happiness of the one she loves. Life after death with the man and she, is more satisfying to her than two renewed lives, letting go of each other’s love. Simply stated, this princess would rather see this accused man, her lover, killed and devoured by a ferocious tiger and meet her in a heavenly place, than to see him happy with a new life with another woman.
In today’s society the majority of the crimes are still being committed by people who have possessed a firearm that has been obtained illegally or without proper permits. That being said there has been a strong push for gun control because of the rise of shootings involving a large group of people such as the Columbine massacre, Virginia Tech shooting and latest Aurora movie theater shooting involving people who have purchased firearms legally. Gun control laws in the United States have been established for many years but to maintain a civilized society with limited crime stronger control laws need to be enforced in which will help reduce crime in our country. Establishing stronger gun control laws will educate
While reading the books, Left to Tell by Immaculee Ilibagiza, and Night by Elie Wiesel, the similarity in person was very prominent. Noticing how closely related these two authors were in their time of struggle and how they conquered their struggles to become survivors. Family, personality, religion, and lifestyle all played separate parts in the story which were told. Though these authors share many similarities, there are still a few ways they differ in the events they were exposed to.
“The Outsiders” is by far one of my favorite books of all time. I think it’s a great story that tells about how a fourteen-year-old boy overcomes many challenges and learns how to get through each of them individually. “The Outsiders” is a story about a boy named Ponyboy that lives with his two older brothers, and they have a group of friends, called the Greasers. One day Pony gets upset with his older brother, Darry, and goes to a park with his friend Johnny to calm down. At the park, a group of kids, called Socs, come and start drowning Pony. Johnny gets scared and doesn’t know what to do so he kills one of the Socs. Soon after, Pony and Johnny decide to run away so they wouldn’t have to deal with
McFarland and Taking Sides have many differences and a few similarities. First, McFarland is a true story with a happy conclusion, except Taking Sides is not a true story with an ending that is not so happy. For example, McFarland is about a football coach named Coach White who was fired from his job because he hit on of his players. He then moved to a Latino/Black community and got a job to be a student teacher for the P.E. teacher. He had about four students that could run up to about 10mph and he asked them to join a cross-country team with him. Coach White then coached the cross-country team, they went to a meet, and they got fourth place. They went to the state finals and won 1st place. Furthermore, Taking Sides is about a boy named Lincoln,
There are many differences and similarities between the book Taking Sides, and the movie McFarland U.S. Starting off, a difference I would like to point out is the sport and the team they had. For example, “Taking Sides” revolved around a basketball team with a harsh coach who didn’t like Lincoln. Next example, McFarland created a cross-country team with a demanding but hopeful coach.
I woke up early the next morning and went to Gerda’s house to collect the take for Bucket and Mulch. She’s awake, as expected, churning butter. Luckily she didn’t reprimand me for not coming as I said I would yesterday, brushing it off by saying that the dragon training final exam day is busy for all, especially the students. Gerda always was one of the kinder of the village mothers, she even went so far as to pat me on the shoulder and say that there’s no shame in losing to a Haddock.

It was a tale written long ago, along with many more from the Canterbury Tales, describing a woman who has had 5 different husbands. She always married men above average and she always believed that it wasn't a happy marriage unless the woman was in control. "The Wife of Bath Tale" has many elements normally found in fairy tales. One characteristic of fairy tales is that they happen long ago. This is also true of the Wife's tale.
The whole poem is free verse, which signifies the freedom the poet now feels. She has transformed into a stronger creature, that is more threatening and free than the woman she was before has been. She has progressed; she looked in the mirror, and saw a ‘dragon’, this shows how she herself feels that she changed; she has become more powerful.
The main character changed from being an unhappy, lonely, shy, and secretive dragon to a happy, having friends, not so shy, and a lot of people knowing her secret dragon. The reason she was unhappy in the beginning was because she doesn’t get to see her mother a lot and her mother is taking her to a new school. Moon(The Main Character) was lonely because she knew nobody at the school, except for the famous dragonets of destiny. She also has no friends sadly which is why she is lonely. Moon also is more of an introvert than an extrovert which is why she is so shy. Moon was very secretive because she has a secret that nobody is allowed to know or knows except for her, her mom, and a mysterious nightwing named DarkStalker. She became happy and not
The purpose of this memo is to evaluate my listening skills, assess my strengths and weaknesses, and describe how I can improve my skills. My listening self-assessment score of 36 indicates that, although my skill level is decent, I have room to improve significantly. I regularly attend professional meetings where either informational listening or critical listening is required. Despite this, I consider my listening skills subpar and am aware of my need for improvement. In understanding how I can improve, I must first assess my strengths and weaknesses.
