Having a dream job must be that certain job that you have always reached for. It is that job that you promise you would do anything to have. I am currently one of the Calumet City Swat Team members. Being an important part of the community is something great to have achieved, especially being a part of the law enforcement. There are plenty of benefits that come with being in the Swat along with seeing children smile in a safe and productive environment. Climbing the ranks takes time and leads to challenging positions that are difficult to adjust too. Another thing difficult to adjust too is an automatic rifle. Being a Swat member, I am armed and must be trained for special types of missions. While most American’s would view law enforcement …show more content…
Being trained with various tactics and weapons not only allows me to defend myself but also my family, friends and community. My dreams of working together as one, to defend and protect the city have come true. Defending a major city, facing the biggest criminals, protecting the needy and giving back to the communities has always been my dream. Being a Swat officer allows me to accomplish many goals. My dream to become a police officer started when I was a third grader. A couple friends of mine and I observed an officer arrest a man on the street that had just caused some serious injury to another civilian. The officer then came to us for a sudden moment to tell us to stay out of trouble and off the streets. After seeing that, I wanted to be the person that takes the bad guy away. Being able to speak to people of all ages and leave an inspiring mindset within them. Leaving the community aware of what is out in the world and giving them positive reinforcement to stay away from negative thoughts and actions is a must. Growing up I was involved in a lot of “Give Back” programs. It was something that allowed me to feel some type of accomplishment. Knowing that I helped a homeless man get some dinner or a homeless women get some new clothes to wear. Feeding the poor is another program I participated in and I just can’t explain the feeling I get by seeing a smile on another person’s face while
It gives me a leg up on other applicants for police jobs that only have a degree or military training. With both military training and a degree, the only competition for a job is someone with both military training and degree like me or someone who already is a police officer and is looking to move somewhere else. The job outlook for future police jobs looks good because as the population increases every year, the criminal element increases as well resulting in more police officers needed to deal with the increase in crime. This increase in police jobs also means there are more openings for advancement to higher level police jobs such as Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) or a police dog handler (K-9 Unit). Both of these police jobs appeal to me and would be the pinnacle of my career, only barely being beaten by becoming a SWAT Commander or a Police Chief. Getting either a SWAT or K-9 Officer job is going to be tough because these two higher level police jobs are the most sought after by police officers, especially those officers that are ex-military as in the case of SWAT. In order to get a SWAT or K-9 job, I plan on showing them I am the best person for the job. I am working on this even now by keeping up with my physical training by working out twice a day. I go to the gym for two hours in the morning and then in the evening, doing sprint drills
My mother has always asked me what I wanted to be when I get older. For so many years I was not able not able to answer this question. She is not the only one that have asked me this question. I have found that this question has become to be common to many of us. On the other hand, after working for fifteen years as a security officer, I know exactly what I want to do with my life. I want to further my education and skills to pursue my career. I have chosen Criminal Justice as my choice of studies. I have already obtained an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Ashworth University. My intention is to continue to go to college and obtain a bachelor degree in this field and work hard in order to gain as much information as I can. I am a
Both Miles Franklin and E.M. Forster implement romantic humanist values throughout their novels to highlight the difficulties facing Victorian women in love.
Border Patrol has been something I have been interested in doing since I was a freshman in highschool when I started in the law enforcement classes. What made me interested in Border Patrol was seeing how active you have to be, law enforcement has been something I have been interested in doing since I was small I have always changed the careers in what I have wanted to do as in being a police officer, lawyer, detective but mostly a border patrol agents. When considering a career in border patrol a person must carefully look into the responsibilities this will entall, the skills one must have to succeed plus other important aspects such as working conditions, salary and the future of the job, however just as important is to carefully seek out
As a child, I always wanted a career enforcing the law. Weather it was with the police department or criminal justice was undecided at that time. As I grew older I pulled more to the fence of criminal justice. Simply because I do not like the way the system is set up.
The purpose of law enforcement is to protect the lives and property of both the community’s citizens and people who visit and work in the community. There are many different levels of law enforcement careers such as local, state and federal agencies. There are also many different occupations within the law enforcement field. One of those occupations is a police officer. (10 Things You Need to Consider Before Becoming a Police Officer, Criminology Careers.com, August 2012, Timothy Roufa, Criminology Careers Expert). To become a police officer it takes more than just wanting to carry a gun and “catch the bad guys”. The hiring process will be long. After submitting an application, each candidate must go through a written test, a physical agility test, an oral interview or two, a “background” check of nearly every aspect of his life, including driving records, drug or alcohol usage, a thorough medical and psychological exam, and a polygraph test. Then after that, each candidate must go through an exhausting physical and mental challenge known as the Police Academy. If the candidates make it through the Police Academy then they advance to on-the-job training known as Field Training, which is even more difficult than the Police Academy. After all of this training and becoming a police officer, one would have to ask themselves if the job is worth it. Police officers are put into dangerous situations daily. After all they have to deal with drunks, the mentally disabled
The first time I started to realize that I wanted to become a K-9 Unit officer, was when my dad took me with him to his work, he used to train police dogs and since that day it has become a dream. I remember when I was little and they had the D.A.R.E Program at my elementary school. I was so focused on Officer Mejia and his K-9 Duke and I had really wanted to touch duke, but officer Mejia didn’t allow it because he was on duty. So of course I was bummed out, but I got over it. When I was young my dad’s favorite breed was a German Shepherd because their very protective and really intelligent dogs so I basically grew loving the breed. Every time these two shows called “Cops” and “K-9 Cops” came on because these shows taped what the job consists
I would like to be a detective for the SVU(special victims unit) and work my way up to lieutenant. I would like to do this job because you are finding the perpetrators that commit rapes, are involved in domestic violence, sexual assaults, assault of minors, etc. and when my mother was about my age she was gang raped by her brothers drunk friends. She never reported it and her childhood rapists got no punishment and went on with their lives.
I realized that I am not one for watching people break the law and being ok with it, especially those who commit repeated offenses. I have thought long and hard about what I wanted to do with my life, I could work a corporate job, but I know when something happens or someone is driving recklessly around me on the way home, I'm going to wish that I was the one responding to the 911 call. I want to become a State Trooper because I wanted to protect and aid those who cannot. I want to become a State Trooper because I could not tolerate being on the sidelines and watching potentially dangerous situations drive right past me. I know from the feeling I get inside of me that I'm supposed to be a part of this elite group. I have to be out there, in the world, making a difference one road at a time. When dangerous situations arise and people start turning away, I have always wanted to run
With graduation drawing near I am excited and ready to put my Agricultural Science degree to use in an industry that I am extremely passionate about. Throughout my time at Cal Poly, I have been working for the San Luis Obispo Police Department as a Student Neighborhood Assistant Program Officer. Before I began working at San Luis Obispo Police Department I had always planned on a career in law enforcement, but with graduation quickly approaching I am not certain that is the career path I am meant to take especially with the public's perspective of peace officers today. I can say that during my time with the San Luis Obispo Police Department, I have gained an immense amount of skills through first hand experiences such as organization, leadership,
The criminal justice system field that I am most interested in is the law enforcement side. After college I have three dreams one is to be in the United States Air Force. The criminal justice major will have a colossal influence on my career. It would give me an edge on the other competition because I know what to expect because the law enforcement concentration is one of the closest military experience things that Alabama State University has to offer. I would like to be in the emergency management field. Emergency management is the military version of FEMA. My aspiration is to be able to become an officer and lead airmen to success. I want to do twenty years in the military then retire after that I would like to join the Drug Enforcement
Becoming a Police Officer has been my dream for as long as I can remember. As a kid, I always wanted to see what was going on when the flashing lights and sirens raced past my house. As I grew up, I realized I possessed a strong desire to help others and to become someone who served my community in a way that would make my family and me proud. My desire from a very young age to become a Police Officer has influenced choices and decisions I have made and contributed significantly toward shaping me into the person I am now.
Originally I had planned to go to Waldorf University and major in criminal justice to become a police officer. I saw many two faced/unreasonable officers throughout my years of growing up that I wanted to do something different. I remember hearing about the cases on tv and thinking, hey, I can make a difference. I wanted to become a police officer to show people that not
Personally, I would be satisfied being in the law enforcement career because it can help people and to me it’s doing something great with my life.
A career I would be interested in pursuing is being a park ranger. This job interests me because I love spending time outdoors and with people. It also is an interest of mine to keep our wonderful parks and woodland environments safe and to have them still be around for many more generations to come.
