Having a dream job must be that certain job that you have always reached for. It is that job that you promise you would do anything to have. I am currently one of the Calumet City Swat Team members. Being an important part of the community is something great to have achieved, especially being a part of the law enforcement. There are plenty of benefits that come with being in the Swat along with seeing children smile in a safe and productive environment. Climbing the ranks takes time and leads to challenging positions that are difficult to adjust too. Another thing difficult to adjust too is an automatic rifle. Being trained with various tactics and weapons not only allows me to defend myself but also my family, friends and community. My dreams of working together as one, to defend and protect the city have come true. Defending a major city, facing the biggest criminals, protecting the needy and giving back to the communities has always been my dream. Being a Swat officer allows me to accomplish many goals. My dream to become a police officer started when I was a third grader. A couple friends of mine and I observed an officer arrest a man on the street that had just caused some serious injury to another civilian. The officer then came to us for a sudden moment to tell us to stay out of trouble and off the streets. After seeing that, I wanted to be the person that takes the bad guy away. Being able to speak to people of all ages and leave an inspiring mindset within them. Leaving the community aware of what is out in the world and giving them positive reinforcement to stay away from negative thoughts and actions is a must. Growing up I was involved in a lot of “Give Back” programs. It was something that allowed me to feel some type of accomplishment. Knowing that I helped a homeless man get some dinner or a homeless women get some new clothes to wear.
