For my ecology project I was picking up litter. I went to Giant rock which is a place that a lot of people/ tourist go to visit or camp. I chose this place, because I noticed all of the litter when I went one day with my family. I started picking up trash on October 27. Trash is a huge problem on earth, and it is very easy to help this problem.
Littering has always been a huge problem on earth, no matter the place. This doesn’t just hurt us, it also hurts the environment and the animals around us. Even though the numbers are still rising there is about 5.25 trillion pieces of debris on the ocean. At Least 100 million marine mammals are killed each year from plastic pollution. Local landfills are currently filling. If this happens the trash know takes longer to get to the final place which means that more greenhouse Gas emissions are in use. This causes global warming since the atmosphere traps heat radiating from earth to space.

A problem that I encountered was transportation. My parents aren’t always able to take me places, because of their jobs but I got a ride there from one of my family members. Another problem that I encountered was that I wasn’t able to go to the Morongo preserve like I first planned on doing. I planned on going to the Morongo preserve on earth day, but I couldn’t get a permission slip signed to go. Another problem for me was time management. What I learned from this was that I need to stop procrastinating, because toward the end of my project. Time was my only problem.
What I learned about myself during this project is that littering is a huge problem. Some of us do it without paying attention and some of us do it because we are just lazy. It really isn’t that hard to put trash where it belongs. I need to pay more attention to the long term effects of what I do are. I may say that it’s just one piece of trash, but I’m really just adding to a way bigger
Imagine you wake up in 20 years and all you see out your window is trash lining the streets and roads. This is what is going to happen if we don’t start recycling now. If we all start recycling now we will have beautiful streets and roads not full of trash. I picked this topic because it is a worldwide problem and I think this topic can be solved. I was very curious about this topic and I wanted to know more about recycling. These are some driving questions I had at the beginning of this project. Why don’t a lot of people recycle? What is the most recycled item? Where is recycling a very big problem in the world? How can more people be involved with recycling? How many people and animals get affected by recycling every year? My driving question was how can we as people create a better recycling society.
Did you know that littering could damage the environment. I believe that people should pick up trash and not litter everywhere it could be a fire hazard also it is bad for people's health and it is bad for the environment. littering is a fire hazard. Also it is bad for the environment and it's bad for people's health. people's health cares and if we don't pick up the trash and stop littering we will be endangered and so make sure up stop littering and pick all of it up.
Littering can be a major fire hazard, all its takes is one discarded cigarette butt into a pile rubbish to ignite a towering inferno of sadness. If we litter too much garbage will pile up and will grow a harmful bacteria which would make us sick. It
Have you ever thought about what your community would look like without litter? If so, it may take a while to find out. One person throwing something on the ground may not think much of it, however, when that trash finds other trash, they begin to build up and make big piles of junk. For example, I am sure people never thought that if they littered, their trash would end up in the pacific garbage patch. Believe it or not, no one thinks that until you look at the pacific garbage patch and see how disgusting it looks just because people were to lazy to throw their trash away. To make matters worse, littering has become very common, which should be stopped because in most cases, trash is not disposed of properly,
Our project is going to help our environment hopefully drastically. My team and I will pick up little pieces of plastic. When birds or any alternative animal consume plastic the animal cannot digest it so the plastic sits in many animal's stomach and builds up filling the bird completely with plastic. Consequently, all birds or any other animal will soon be full with so much plastic it won't be able to eat real food. I, as the leader of this team will be making sure if we detect any trash we will pick it
Many people today don’t even see littering as a crime. Everywhere you go whether its streets, towns, or beaches there always seems to be an abundant amount of trash in the area. The fact that we Americans keep continuing to litter is horrible, it’s as if we think littering is a joke. A particular situation with littering happened to me as a student while in high school. We had taken a campus field trip to the beach every student was allowed to bring food, drinks, and even their own ice chest. As it was time to leave our supervisors notice all of the trash we students left. We thought it was no harm and continued to walk to our bus, but our supervisors didn’t like that. So they decided to make all of the students to pick up the trash we left and then they gave us a lecture about littering. As you see the adolescents are starting to care less about minor laws, my experience shows that this reality is becoming
Statistics show that over 1.5 billion more tons of garbage ends up in the ocean each year than is actually thrown away. Not only does this contribute to the amount to fish reported dead every day, but it takes around 11.5 billion dollars every year to help treat the mess. Even so, the litter is building up at such a fast rate we can not even begin to make progress. People of ages 18-34 tend to litter much more than others. If a method is found to target this crowd and make it more convenient to recycle, a large part of the problem could be
When you are driving down the roads of Miami County, all you see is litter. My vision for the future of Miami County is to have little to no litter on the ground because it looks better, is better for the economy, and is better for the animals. Less litter is better looking to the eyes and is less trashy looking. That makes it look very trashy and makes it look like we all don’t care about the Earth and what shape it’s in. Less litter is also better for the economy, for the ground, and also for the water. Litter is very bad for the earth. Litter in the water can kill organisms. Litter on the ground pollutes the soil, which can pollute the plants that grow in the soil or can stop the plants from growing. If animals or humans eat the plants that
The applied ethical project I worked on was, should I speak up and encourage the other units in my housing complex that do not recycle to start recycling, or is it not my place to tell them what they should or should not do? I chose this project, because I currently live in a house that is split up in to five different units and I encountered this ethical issue on a daily basis, as I continued to see the other people from the other units throwing away items that were clearly recyclable. The common area has two large recycling cans outside, right beside the regular waste trash cans, so they have the means to recycle easily, yet the waste trash cans are overflowing and the recycling cans are nearly empty, other than what my husband and I recycle.
The second service-learning experience with the DNA club was a roadside clean-up on Highway 16, near Pettibone Beach. There were 18 of us who spent 2 hours cleaning up the half-mile stretch of highway. It was amazing to see how quickly our garbage bags got full. With every piece of garbage, I picked up, I found myself becoming more and more upset. It is difficult to fathom how individuals in our society resort to throwing their garbage out of their windows, rather than recycling it or throwing it in a receptacle. Ordinarily, it doesn 't seem like a big issue, the trash can quickly accumulate on the sides of the roads. This can pose major environmental issues if wildlife such as birds, turtles, and fish eat the trash or become entangled in
It may seem harmless and innocent, but littering is an unhealthy habit people of all ages in each country do every day. Littering is a second nature to some people; after doing it for so long and often, they do not realize they do it. As more and more people continue to litter, environments, animals, and humans are being harmed by people’s carless actions. Americans, as well as all humans, need to be more aware of how hazardous and costly littering is to the world and the creatures living in it. Littering shows lack of respect for the world, and needs to be prevented in order for future generations to live in a clean and healthy environment.
Why we shouldn’t litter. We should not litter because a lot of animals in the ocean are getting hurt and they are dying. When you litter your garbage instead of throwing it away the wind will pick it up and then int will go in a lake a river or a ocean and then they get ti animals and they think is food and they try to eat it and they get hurt of there swimming and it get stuck where on them and they cant get it off.
Carelessness and laziness are two common factors that contribute to littering. We have a piece of trash in our hands and a trash can is in site, yet we decide to just throw it on the ground. Littering has become second nature even if it is unintentional. We assume that the trash we throw will eventually disappear into thin air and it won’t affect our surroundings. Little do we know that every little piece of trash thrown out the window all adds up. That small piece becomes a pile of trash that ends up clogging storm drains, contaminating water and endangering wildlife. According to McWhorter, “Sustainability involves conserving resources to prevent their depletion, protecting ecological processes, and eliminating waste and pollution, so as to ensure that our society’s pratices can continue and our civilization can endure” (p. 394).
Littering is a major issue which affecting our lives every day. A wise judgement needed to stop what happening around us every day. Littering plays a huge part in polluting our environment. A lazy action of throwing wrappers, gum, paper and many more polluting our environment which we don’t realize or not trying to realize. Littering doesn’t affect only humans; it also affects poor innocent animals along with us. Those poor creatures don’t have any understating of littering where the best creature human being is doing all the harmful behavior. Littering causes many things which we don’t want to happen. We have to find out the solution to make difference to our environment. Littering has to stop in our community by raising awareness, volunteering, distribution of garbage, and by setting punishment.
Speaking of negative habits of people, what other answer is better than littering? In one of St. John’s School’s programs, senior high school students roam into the suburbs of Tangerang around our school to pick up trashes that people can easily spot, but still ignore. During our program, as an expression of care towards the environment, on behalf of the school, we distributed trash bins in a few areas which by that we hoped that people would care more. Facilitated by a place for the trash, we were stunned to see the outcome of one particular trash bin around the intersection nearest to our school. Before the program, there were a few trashes littered on the grass in that location that we hope to no longer be that way by placing the trash bin.
