This essay is solely based on students’work ethic from my own personal experience. During my employment as a hostess of Pepper Jack's. I worked with many student employees, most like me in high school. I would say over three quarters of the employees were students. I quickly noticed that all my fellow employees showed up for work. The quality of service towards the customers and the cleanliness and safety of the restaurant was at the top of every employee’s personal list. Every part of their job duties were always completed in a timely manner and with no complaints. They made every customer feel welcome, from the time they walked in to the restaurant until they left. By the time the restaurant closed we were not employees any more, we were a
Having a good work ethic will help to keep you from procrastinating and keeping yourself on task without many distractions. A good work ethic will not only help you now but all thru life. It can help in job interviews or even getting a promotion. A good work ethic involves being hard working and always able to take advice from people higher up than you and always hustling til the job is done or your shift is over. A good work ethic is respected by all and admired. The ones whom are lacking leave teachers and future employers second guessing whether to recommended them further down the
3. What were some of the best lessons you learned from your experience as a frontline manager?
Working at FedEx Express, I had the privilege to interview my boss Brian Buchwald. We share the same work ethic background with the both of us serving in the military but serving in different branches. Brian served in the Army for 6 years, and then served in the Air Force for another 6 years after exiting the Army. Brian just recently got promoted to Operations Manager at FedEx Express after being with the company for only 3 years, which is quite incredible
We need to start thinking of our students as sentient beings capable of an incredibly diverse spectrum of individuality, rather than yet another cog in a never ending machine. For years, we have been oppressed by desires of others, as well as their established social norms. We have become slaves to the way we perceive our society to work, That we must complete work by deadlines, that we must become another's idea of a human being. This world has been established that most all people must complete tasks they never wanted to do. However, it has become that the younger generation of the population has taken much of this obligation. For each day for a student is begun before even the sun chooses to rise, Then, leads to eight hours in an establishment created of dark brick, promising years of pain and suffering through massive workloads of things that may have been intriguing, had they not been presented in such a dull and uninteresting manner. Once this task has been completed, we return to their home where hours of chores and homework await them. Then, each night, they climb into bed, each day bearing more difficultly than the last. This cycle continues for years, the only escape from this cycle being graduating from another brick establishment that has taken all money that one could ever hope to have, and attempting to find a job that might be what you want to do. It is time that we break out of this miserable cycle. This life was meant to be enjoyed by all and to be enjoyed to the fullest. This idea has been broken and shattered beyond recognition, but it still remains. The idea that we can be exactly who we want to be, without having to sell our souls to do so still lingers on, shining, yet unattainable just as a star. We simply must be the glue that binds the broken pieces of this
The future working men and women who enter college are adults and will be treated as such. An adult is one who has matured to know what is right and what is wrong. The importance of a rule is a line between right and wrong that many places including colleges have as a guiding tool. College students who enter are expected to follow rules as the rules are meant to protect us and set a guideline. Adults also know how to be self-sufficient, being able to do their work, without anyone’s help or stealing someone else’s work: plagiarism. College is where we are expected to perform to the best of our abilities because as students we have a fierce ambition to get ahead by earning a degree.
Since we have discussed some ethic personality types, it is time to consider what some of these employees might see as
Through history you can see that work ethic became vitally important when the United States was becoming influential in the world market. This was especially seen during the rise of industrialization in America from 1878-1889 when a handful of corporations rose up and became the most powerful companies in the world. Some of these companies that are well-known today arose during this time period such as General Electric, U.S Steel, and J.P Morgan Banking. These corporations became very successful because of their business owners and their determination to do whatever was necessary to make a profit and put themselves above all other rival companies. Several come to mind but the two most prominent were John D. Rockefeller and Andrew Carnegie.
Through many processes in college and working on a farm most of my life I have learned many different work ethics, whether in an office setting or out in the field. It has also taught me to have pride within my work and to strive to get better.
Therefore, in one case we set down our very job, where our experience helped in development high work ethics was ready to use. During our junior year in high school, a new auto part store open in the Mid-Valley sector. The figure of the establishment was Auto Shack, and reminiscing on the first job as a straight adventure.
The WU Ethic begins with the preamble that states, “to secure the tradition of academic richness and rigor deserved by Willamette University.” This means that we the students must abide by the ethic to ensure true education. This immediately attracts me to Willamette knowing that we all came to this school with a passion to learn and not to find a shortcut to education. After the preamble comes personal excellence. In personal excellence, it declares that “We will proudly submit only our original work. We will never attempt to give ourselves or others an unfair advantage.” Whether it is in school or outside of school, we need to uphold our own ethic to keep the playing field even. You will never succeed if you cheat, or win under different
My ideal job would be an assistant store manager at Brookshire’s Grocery Company. I chose this job because I have spent the past four years working at the Palestine, Tx store location and have loved my time there so far. I would like to continue working in such a great work environment and move up to the position of assistant store manager.
Work ethic is primarily claiming hard work does pay off in the long run. If one is ready to put the time, the dedication, and effort in advancing towards success, than nothing can stop them. The reasoning for this is because once it’s integrated into the mind that the only way to reach success is by doing certain tasks a certain way, the only obstacle to face is themselves. The key to having a good work ethic is by possessing a strong sense of self discipline and dedication, which lead to the path of success.
Sophomore year was when i got my first job. It was April when i was hired and had found out about the job because my mom knew the owner of a store that was about to open. I had turned sixteen earlier the year before in September so this was my first real job. After an online application and an interview the job was mine. My first day i was very nervous. I was not feel comfortable talking to strangers or initiating conversation so i was anxious about the possibility of being in that uncomfortable situation. Nonetheless i arrived to the store mentally preparing myself for the day. To my relief i found out the store was a week away from being ready to open and i was saved from any interaction with any customers; although the threat still loomed in the near future. I spent the day assembling shelving, hanging signs, cleaning, and attempting to get the floor into working order. It was a long eight hour day of work. After a week of this the store was ready and we were called into a meeting to discuss opening day tactics. Among other tips and suggestions for how our new store should be run there was one requirement that stood out from the rest: each customer is to be
This is a case study on A New Work Ethic written by James Sheehy a human resources manager. According to the Business Dictionary (2011) ethic is define as the basic concepts and fundamental principles of right human conduct. It includes study of universal values such as the essential equality of all men and women, human or natural rights, obedience to the law of land, concern for health and safety and, increasingly, also for the natural environment.
"Winning is important to me, but what brings me real joy is the experience of being fully engaged in whatever I'm doing." says Phil Jackson, a former American professional basketball player. People always whine about how their first job experience was terrible and there’s only one reason which is not getting enough amount of money for their work. I think people need to think that job is not always about money as I discovered from my first job.
