I was born in Pakistan but I have lived in the U.S most of my life. When I came to the United States I was two years old. I have gone back to Pakistan only a few times, but my most recent visit was in 2012 when I had just finished 8th grade. One of the fun parts was traveling, because it is always fun to go to different airports and cities, but once you were inside of the plane there wasn’t much to do on the long flights. The flight was 12 hours long so I ended up sleeping a lot to make time go by. It was also pretty hard leaving my parents because I had never done that for such a long period of time. Going to Pakistan I had a lot of good and bad experiences. One of the fun parts of going there was getting to meet all of my relatives …show more content…
It takes a lot to memorize this much and if you skip one day you will lose the mentality that you are there to memorize and that isn’t good because then it will be really hard. Although I memorized around 50 chapters, I did not get to finish it all in one year. The schools in America and Pakistan have some similarities and differences. The most common similarities are basic rules such as not talking during bad times, or being respectful to others. One of the big differences was that if you do something wrong you get beat by the teacher. It was like a punishment for everything. A Few of the weapons they used were sticks, cut hose pipes, or just a shoe. There were also other other punishments like doing wall sits, where you would sit against the wall but with no chair underneath. Those were pretty painful too because it was for long periods of time, and your legs would start to camp up. A full year had passed so I now left the school. The last thing I did before flying back was meet all of my relatives one last time. This was really sad because I had no clue of when I was going to see them again. Finally, the day to fly back to America came. Although I was happy to see my family again, it was very sad to leave all of my relatives. Flying back was relatively fun, because I already knew what I was expecting like the long 12 hour flights. Since it was the second time flying back it felt like a really quick flight. I ended up having a really fun time in
The Americans became a friend of Pakistan because those days Russia was their main enemy. The crisis of war united some countries. In my opinion, the destinies of those mini-states were concerned with the war between two superpower. Poor and backward countries were all became victims of the conflict. Pakistan used war tactics to teach math at that time because they wanted their offspring to understand the cruelty of war and warned their future generations to become stronger. Because the change of position in the international energy supply chain, the civil strife in Iraq rise in oil prices allowed the United States gained a lot of advantages from it. The higher price made America more investment in oil development and corresponding employment,
We were at the border between Mexico and America. I had never been here before and I was anxious. There were so many police walking around. We were going to the place where my dad lived when he was younger. This has shaped me into the person I am today because I saw how hard it is to live over there. I met a lot of my relatives. The food over there was so much better.
I was 10 years old, when my family decided to come to America because of its richness and wealth, and also to escape from the war that was going on.
In 2008, I learned some exciting news that I was going to go on a cruise. A cruise is a new experience for me and I was ready to go on it. We were going to St. Martin in the Bahamas, we would leave Kansas City and get on a boat at Cape Canaveral which was by Kennedy space center. Me, my grandparents, parents, aunt, uncle and my great grandparents were all going on the trip. This trip ended up being the funnest trip in my life.
When I was about 10 years old my family and I took a vacation to Florida to see my great aunt Linda. It was a 14 hour drive down to Florida which is a long time in the car. We were going down there for a week. For the first two days we went to Sea World in Orlando, Florida. I was very excited to see my great aunt because I have never met her before. I knew that I was going to have fun on this trip.
I was born in Pakistan and I have lived there until I was 13. I got to experience a lot of things that my generation never have in the United States. Pakistan is behind in technology, then other great countries like the United States and it has not been fully developed yet. Before Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh was all one country under a British control. But then there was a religious uprising so Pakistan separated from India in the year 1947 and it has almost been 69 years since it was created. So when I was born, I got to experience all the things that old generation experienced in the United States. We did not have computers only a few rich people had a computer. I remember we had a black and white TV instead of colored TV and some people
I have lived in Norway for four years now, however, I was conceived in Pakistan. I feel associated with Norway and Pakistan since it is not quite a while I am living in Norway. I know about Pakistan culture, yet I likewise feel associated with the general
One of the most amazing experiences I've had occurred last year, when I participated in a mission trip to Honduras. My family and I volunteered at an orphanage and surgery center. There in Honduras, my perspective on everything changed. I saw how lucky I was to have a family who loved me and took care of me, and how I need to appreciate them instead of taking it for granted. I realized how fortunate I was to live where I live, in a nice house and in a safe neighborhood.
One of the best fun, memories i have had is when i went to Cancun, Mexico. Sometime in June last year I went to Mexico with all my family, ( cousins sisters aunts uncles etc ) it was a very memorable moment because I got to see my family smiling and we had so much fun. The plane ride there was super scary but seeing all the clouds was very cool and it’s possibly a one time thing to be in the clouds and see all of the big buildings and all of the lakes and rivers below you. From the moment you stepped of the plane we could feel the warm weather and we could feel the breeze.
Adjusting to life in Pakistan must have been hard for you, how did you do it?
It was fun but I couldn’t adjust well there, I felt alienated there even though I was back to my native country, I felt lonely with billions of people , I felt like a nobody, I felt alone. It’s hard for us Indians that are brought up abroad to get used to Indians cultures, because we don’t fit in anywhere. For the first time for a long time I cried because I missed my family yearned for them like a child yearning for their stuffed bear. It was painful, I missed them so much that I couldn’t eat I felt depressed for a long time, nothing excited me. I couldn’t eat, whenever I ate something I would feel sick and throw up, I lost a lot of
The United States and Pakistan both require education until you’re sixteen. Education hasn’t been required in Pakistan until recently. Both Pakistani and American schools begin and end at the same time roughly. “I was late, as usual, because i’d slept in”(127). In America I know I have to wake up early in the morning. In Pakistan and America they both ride buses. School buses are great but this is where Malala was shot. Pakistan and America also have teachers in their school.
The best trip I have ever went on was when I went on my family vacation to Orlando, Florida. We went as a huge family, as in my dad’s side of the family, I went with my grandma my grandpa my aunt and uncle my two cousins my mom and my dad and my two sisters and a brother, only to meet up with more family. We had went in the middle of June and were going for a week, we took a plane there and back and stayed at a hotel for a day or two.
My first experience as a freshman was not the best, but it sure was one of the funniest. I was excited and wanted to share the news with my family. My mom could not contain her laughter when she heard how she drove a bike too fast around downtown with an outdated knowledge of how. Their favorite part had been when the faces of the people were contorted in fear and their bodies screamed an alert, with the intention to step aside in the hope of avoiding me on the bicycle. Her laughter was pure. She laughed without worries. I still remember the last words of that conversation we had held on the telephone in Oglethorpe Square.
