My Elementary Experience “I’m glad we had the times together, to laugh and sing a song, seems like we just got started and then before you know it, the times we had together are gone.” - Dr. Seuss. This quote has a specific meaning to me because my elementary school isn’t just down the road, it’s 4 hours away. In my first year of school (I didn’t go to preschool) my teacher was Mrs. Luedtke. She let me play beauty shop with her and do her hair in high pigtails and mermaid braids. My best friends were Kelsey Corbett who was scared of cats and had freckles on her face that were sprinkled on her skin like stars are sprinkled across the sky. Allie Dereberry was my other friend who was a tomboy that liked Power Rangers and Teenage Mutant …show more content…
One of our traditions every year was that we would pay a dollar for one strip of duct tape to tape our principal to the wall. It was a fundraiser where we could pick whatever color we wanted and tape it to our teacher we she would be stuck to the wall. In third grade my teacher was Mrs. Hein who looked 20 years younger than she actually was! Another tradition we had was the Decorah Fair. That’s where we had bouncy houses, face painting, and carnival games set up outside manned by the teachers, and most importantly, the DUNK TANK! That was where one of out teachers would sit in the dunk tank and you had to throw a ball at the target but the teacher also had a squirt gun so they would squirt water at you too. If you missed, they still let you run up and push the target where they fell in. Finally, my last year of elementary school in fourth grade my teacher was Miss May. Since we were in fourth grade, we got to participate in the Hoedown. We dressed up as cowboys and learned different line dances and cowboy dances. At the end of the year all grades participated in Field Day. Field day was the last day of school and the teachers each were in charge of different stations where we played games. Some games we squirted water at each other, some we played tag, some we used pipes and marbles, there we so many different games we played and it was a great end to the school year.
In conclusion, my elementary years were fun and exciting filled with field trips, friends, and
At the end of my first grade year, I moved away from the small, rural town near Vienna where I had lived since I was born. On my first day of school at Lincoln Elementary, I quickly made friends with two girls in my class named Pam and Kelly. Pam and Kelly introduced me to their group of friends that were all in our second grade class. For the rest of the school year, this group of friends was who I played on the playground with everyday and talked to in the classroom. After a great first year of school in Marion, the time came for my third grade year. Every year at Lincoln, there is a day that is close to the beginning of the school year where the students can come to the school to meet their new teacher and look at the class list to see which of their friends is in their class. On that morning, I went to Lincoln to find out who my new teacher was. To my dismay, I found out that all of my friends from second grade had a different teacher than I did. After finding out that I was not in class with any of my friends, I knew that I would have to find a new friend to talk to in my third grade class in addition to having all of my friends from second grade. At the beginning of my third grade year, I hung out with two friends I met named Phyllis and Erin. As the year progressed, I started to hang out with Angela who would soon become one of my best
When I was 5 I went to Eisenhower elementary my teacher in kindergarten was Mrs. Herbst. All of my teachers were just ok but then in fourth grade I had an awesome teacher named Mrs. dune she gave us an extra recess and just gave us candy if we were good. She had us play with computers if we got are work done.
Dress up week is always a lot of fun. Not only do the teachers’ get really into it, the students do too. The week of homecoming was always a 4-day week and that only adds to the excitement. The start of the week is time travel Tuesday and the classes all have different eras to coordinate with. Seniors always had the coolest of the eras as they get the 40’s. My senior year I dressed as a pearl-wearing, casserole-carrying housewife. Wednesdays are character week and I made a habit of always dressing up as my sister because we are twins and it was a fun joke to play. My personal favorite of the days is Thursday. The seniors dress up in togas and their crowns. Inevitably there is the one boy whose mom didn’t pin his toga just right and he thinks going nude under it is a rite of passage and flashes half of the school in the lunch room. Friday is school spirit day, the entire school screams raider pride with glitter, face paint, and lots of maroon and black-- all in preparation for the football game.
I started out in Lindbergh at the age of three where I went to preschool for two years. I remember taking naps, playing on the playground, and snacking the most. After I finished preschool I went on to kindergarten. My first year riding a big school bus vs the small they use to pick us up in for preschool. I remember my kindergarten teacher Ms. Dorn who taught me the alphabet and how to count. My first grade teacher Ms. Hansen taught me how to read, write, add, and subtract. I remember my second grade teacher Ms. Welinski who help me further my education in the world of history, math, reading, and writing. My third grade teacher Ms. Cox retired my third grade year, but her lasted year she taught me how to write in cursive and to multiply.
Elementary was extremely entertaining. Every month my group will go to a field trip or throughout the week we will have activities outside in the playing field. I graduated elementary with many diplomas, and achievements even The President’s Education Awards
In 1st grade I had two teachers, I can’t remember one of their names but the other one was Ms. Diana, one would teach us science social studies and math,
Sixth grade was great. I had great teachers and I wish I could remember all of their names. For my math class I had Mrs. Denton, and she was a very loud, and cheerful(most of the time). She was pregnant towards the end of my sixth. There are two things that I always remember about her. One is that she has really curly hair and the other is to remember that it was time for lunch her phone would go off and it sounded like a rooster. For social studies I had Mrs. Whitten. She was nice and it was her second year of teaching. We did geography that year and I absolutely loved it. My favorite part was
My Kindergarten teacher was Mrs. Kasinger. Mrs. Kasinger was prodigious. At nap time Mrs. Kasinger had to move me behind the books because I would talk to everyone. I would talk to people even if they were mean to me I would still talk to them . After nap time sense I was by the books and the books were by the toys everyone would play by my bed. Then I woke up and started talking to people again.
Soon enough preschool was over and here came our elementary school days. Everyone met many people in kindergarten. Many will be my friends throughout high school and beyond. Kindergarten was filled with arts and crafts, my portfolio, 2008 handprints, and stamped tee shirts. Suddenly kindergarten graduation was here, everyone was paired up and danced with a partner. First grade flew by and then came second grade with Ms. Foisy and Ms. Okabioshi. Ms. Okabioshi was one of the best teacher assistance we have ever had. Third and fourth grade with Mrs. Schuler and Ms. Ittes. These years were filled with warm fuzzies, a lot of reading and writing, and a lot of fun playing on the playground. The class watched Shilo and everyone hated the evil father. After that came fifth grade with Mr. Sifferman, also known as Millie’s cousin, he gave the hardest tests we have ever taken, but the most fun and memorable times we have had. After that year many people changed schools, I moved to California.
My third grade teacher’s name was Ms. Brockbank. From the first day I met her, I knew we had a bond. She knew that after school there would be nobody at home besides my siblings and I, so she would invite us to her classroom for after school snacks. It was usually nothing more than apple
In 6th grade Mr. Strupp was always kind and a bit sarcastic, but in a friendly way. Mr. Fosse was funny and taught me math and science. Laura taught me how to play and do certain sports. In 7th grade Mr. Leister teaches me history, and I get to hear his interesting stories all the time. Ms. Duncan lays the hammer down, and strictly grades, which always encourages me to do my best. Ryan teaches me science (with a little help from Tim and Moby). Lastly Mimi, is a fun, but clumsy math teacher. All of them have been superb, and helped me through my two long years of Middle School.
We had mystery reader, Flat Stanley, Salk Cash, and this was the year I started reading full chapter books. I remember one day we had mystery read and a woman with short, blonde hair came in with big nose and mustache glasses on. I didn’t recognize her at first, but as I got a closer look, I realized it was my grandma! Flat Stanley was another story Mrs. Salk read to us. He was a flat boy that would go on so many types of adventure. We got to make our our Flat Stanley and our assignment was to take him on adventures and write about it. It was so much fun taking him swimming and my dad even took him to the police station. Salk Cash was awarded for good behavior. We would get small toys, snacks, or little drinks with the Salk Cash. This year I got another partner named Kayla, and because we had so many people in our class my friend Emma and I had the same partner. This was the year we made our first Communion. I remember practicing constantly until the day finally came. I had a beautiful white gown on, and after, I took dozens of
Everyone has a favorite school year and mine happens to be sixth grade. I had some of the best teachers, classes, and friends. I remember being extremely nervous to start sixth grade, I wanted to stay at Boone Elementary with recess and no changing classes. I was as nervous as a mouse. I thought there were going to be millions of new students from different schools.Turns out I loved sixth grade more than any grades before. The first day of school my parents took me to school and I didn’t want to get out of the silver car. Not knowing that I would have the best time at Troy Middle School.
In sixth grade it was a whole new ball game. We had a different teacher since the third grade and more students. By this time we were all calling each other cousins and so on and so forth. This teacher was fun and cool. One thing I have to say is that she could wear some heels. Everyday she wore heels. There was not a day that she wore regular shoes. But this one time only, just this once she came in with sneakers because we were going on a field trip and she didn't want to walk in heels all day. But other than that it was back to the
Elementary school started out as a bore but moved on to eventually being fun and enjoyable. I grew to love school and learning during my fourth and fifth grade years at Zia elementary school. My teacher taught me the value of history and American History
