Before taking my last vacation, I was almost convinced that affordability and excitement could not exist in the same sentence in today’s economy. After several failed attempts of planning for an inexpensive getaway, I decided to store the idea in the compartments of my mind. Nevertheless, the opportunity presented itself six months ago in the form of an invitation. That’s right! I was finally going to get the mini vacation I was in search of, with all the bells and whistles in one package. The invitation was extended to me, through Dimples and Diamonds empowerment group for women, based out of Savannah, Georgia. Dimples and Diamonds had a weekend retreat planned for the last week in September 2017 at Sonesta Resort on Hilton Head
Island. The island is located off the coastal region of South Carolina where it is known for it’s rich Gullah Geechee culture and recreational areas. The Sonesta reminded me of a huge burrito with everything you wanted wrapped into one bite for our pleasure. The resort at Hilton Head offered an economical and comfortable stay; as well as a broad array of activities for a group or an individual of any age group. Sonesta presented a few packages for comfort and pleasure, that made planning a stay for the weekend like a cake walk. The prices ranged from $250 per night individually or $135 per night for groups. I chose the group package because I was traveling with a group of four. After taxes and security fees were applied, the total cost was $450 for a three-day weekend. The customer service representative also informed me of additional discounts and rewards that could be used if we resided at the resort. That wasn’t a bad deal after all since the security fees were credited back to your account after you checked out of the resort. The overall customer service experience was one that should go down in the books. If you are one that pride yourself in great customer service; like myself, you could not help but notice the small gestures of courtesy that the staff showed upon arrival and upon departure. The atmosphere was welcoming with exceptional greeters. The aroma from various restaurants and savory smells of the Gullah cuisine filled the air, accompanied by filtered water
Beth was an interesting woman to say the least. She was very talkative and had an eccentric personality. She might have been a smidge under the influence on this very normal afternoon but she was still a nice and fun person to talk to. Ashley and Kevin and I got to know her and all about her family all too well sitting at the bar at TGI Friday’s.
“How does it feel to be on a resort compared to a small hotel or Inn in Jamaica?” She said, “On a

Trying to find memories is like looking for treasure. You look at the surface and see something mediocre, but you dig deep and find something cool, pretty, and meaningful. It took a while to think of a fond memory, but once I thought of some, it was hard to choose a favorite. Growing up I have had many great experiences in the form of vacations. Between going to Disney World, owning a vacation home, hanging out with my grandparents in Arizona, traveling to Canada and more. They all make amazing memories that I will forever cherish. The vacation spot we go to the most, though, is Wisconsin Dells. A few times I have been allowed to invite friends to come with. When I am allowed to bring friends, it is always a ginormous amount of fun. We goof off in the hotel room, play in the arcades, and swim in the water parks.
After about ten minutes of looking, we finally found them and were headed to our hotel. Pulling up to our hotel, my jaw dropped in awe. It was huge! There were swimming pools, buffets, and people everywhere. The main desk said that for an extra $100, we could upgrade to a presidential suite which was beachside. Of course we said yes, then the bell hop showed us to our room. I was speechless! The room was about the size of my house! Two king sized beds, marble floors, walk in closets, flat screen TVs, and it was right by the beach. It truly was a sight to

Off of the vibrant, beautiful coast of west St. Kitts there are two hotels across from each other, divided by a narrow red, dirt road. Vacationing there with my elderly, strict Italian grandfather, parents, and happily married Aunt and Uncle I thought I had a tediously dreary vacation in front of me. I was expecting nine o’clock
I knew that today was going to be a fast pace before I even went into the building. This week we have two case managers and two teachers who are on vacation. I had seven cases that I had to address today. One the case that stood out to me was a case that involved three children and the mother. The father of the children was not around so it made the case a little harder. The three children all had some sort of infection on them, but that's not what they mother came to me for. She asked if I could help her get food stamps. I told her that we could work on it, in the middle of the conversation I notice that all three children looked like they were uncomfortable. All of the children were under the age of ten, and should be happy because
targeted those people who would recognize and appreciate quality lodging and not those who were seeking “cheap sleep”. Inviting potential guests or individuals who might influence visitor hotel selection to launch parties, swim parties, cocktail parties and other planned events. Targeting supportive hospitality businesses. Packages that supported local businesses were developed.
The only sound that filled my ears was my keyboard clicking as my fingers raced across it. I had been procrastinating from finishing this assignment all evening, but I knew I needed to get it done. The burning sunset was shining through the windows as I was finishing up. It was a peaceful silence, until I heard the soft whispers of my parents that ignited my sense of curiosity. I was concentrating hard; doing my best trying to make out the hushed words that were being spoken.
There are certain memories that we have that we can remember like they happened yesterday. Many of those memories that have special meaning to me were of family vacations when I was young growing up with my brothers and sisters. Family memories are important to many of us because they take us back to a time or place that was special. One particular family vacation I remember vividly, and it’s a story I have shared with my kids on many occasions. Over the 40 or more years since that memorable vacation, I still smile and think how lucky I was growing up with a mother and father that did everything to give their kids an unforgettable memory.
Most people that have gone to Orlando for holidays, ended with good memories. I’m not the exception. The resorts, the parks, and the restaurant make Orlando the best place to enjoy for the whole family. My last holiday with my nephew in The Wall Disney World Resort was the best time of our life for my family and me.
