Part one: Starbucks is an international coffee company which was established in 1971 in Washington. It is the largest of its kind in the market with almost 23 thousand cafés in 63 countries. The Starbucks that I have evaluated is the one in Opera Lane Cork city.
I have often experienced the wonderful inspiring coffee brand that is Starbucks. From my encounter with the company I found the strengths of the company to be that
1. The customers made me feel very welcome. When I ordered my hot chocolate they asked me politely what my name was and then wrote it on my cup. I find the small things matter and this is what customers will remember.
2. On one of my experiences with Starbucks in opera lane I was with my elderly granny and she was talking quite low so the waitress politely asked me what she was saying and showed her a seat to sit down on.

As a student myself I would not be going to Starbucks every day as I could not possibly afford it. Their prices are quite high.
3. I find the seats in Starbucks on opera lane to be quite uncomfortable when I experienced Starbucks with my granny she could not stay long as she felt cramped.
4. When I was in Starbucks my last my experience was not so pleasant. While I sat down drinking my iced café mocha there was a father and son having an argument beside me. It made me quite unconformable. Then a mother came in the door with a screaming baby and after a few minutes I left.
5. One day about a month ago I was getting my usual when I found myself waiting in the queue for a longer time than I had expected. I was quite inconvenient as I was late for my appointment as a result.
6. I was in Starbucks in Opera Lane lately with my aunt and her young daughter. When we had ordered and sat down my aunt called over one of the staff for a high chair. This staff member was quite friendly however she told us that they were out of high chairs as they only had two in the shop and they were both being used. It was quite an
After purchasing a drink I settled down to the left of the shop just by the window from this location, I observed several rituals through watching interactions and general behavior. My vantage point of view proved useful in the first trip so it was used for observation in subsequent visits as well. I also obtained information by interviewing an informant. The informant is an employee at the coffee shop: a barista who works mainly in the morning shift. The barista has been an employee at this particular Starbucks for three months. According to the informant, having been on duty during the early morning rush has provided sufficient material, which they have used to observe customer behavior, maybe for business strategy.
I set out to find a place to begin my observations, not knowing what to fully expect, what I may find. So I decided to look around at what is close to my home that isn’t a place I frequent or have even visited at all. Then it came to me, the Starbucks that is only about a mile away is a perfect place for me to observe subjects that I would consider different from myself, seeing as how I consider such obscene prices for coffee ridiculous. Starbucks is a very popular chain of coffee vendors that describe their product as more about quality than what Americans are used to in typical coffee joints.
The “Starbucks Experience”: There is a friendly and clear connection between staffs and customers of Starbucks. This is not present in The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.
I gathered my information from Dunkin’ Donuts shop on the Third Avenue. Dunkin’ Donuts is one of the largest coffee shop chains in the world. I chose this because it is close to our house. When I first walked into the shop, I heard Chainsmokers’ Closer song. It was also a quiet place sometimes where you could just sit and relax. It is a small place with limited seats. There were only three small tables and a long table. The place is air-conditioned, so it is cold. There is also free Wi-Fi, so the customers will not get bored while they are waiting in line or drinking their coffee. There is also a Baskin-Robbins inside the store, so it is not only a coffee shop but also an ice cream shop. I wanted to interview one of the staff, but they were busy. I ended up interviewing an old woman because she was sitting with me since there were limited seats. She is 71 years old and originally from Mexico. She was 23 years old when she moved here. She is married to a Mexican too and they had three children.
I decided to use Starbucks as the site for my naturalistic observation assignment. Starbucks is an American coffee house chain that is well known for its relaxing atmosphere and delicious coffee drinks. Today is Labor day and because it is a holiday, I expect to see several people commuting back home from their vacations. As I entered the Starbucks in Palm Springs, just as I expected, it was full of people getting their coffees for the long drive ahead of them. The people are mostly young men and women in tank tops and shorts due to the hot weather. Since it is 11:30 in the morning, everyone appears to be in a rush to get on the road. As I sat longer, a couple sitting in the corner caught my attention. They seem to be in no rush and look like
Starbucks with its inspired high selling coffee bean has been very popular in the American Culture over the years. I decided to observe Starbucks due to its popularity all over campus, although it has not been a fan of mine. I found it very pleasant and relaxing during my time there. I noticed more intimate interactions between workers when there were little or no customers and fewer interactions between workers when the place was crowded.
Patrons like myself stood in line scanning the café for empty tables and available seats. The arrangement of the tables in this area allowed for more seating flexibility and appeared to lower social boundaries between customers while encouraging interaction between members of cliques and individual patrons. Armed with my laptop and cappuccino, my observations occurred from an empty table in the center of the café.
Although I’ve only been working at Starbucks for three weeks, I would like to think that I have a handle on things. At least, that’s what I thought until a customer walked up with his phone held to his ear, his wallet already in his hands, and his order so rushed that I could barely make it out. When I asked him to repeat his order he rolled his eyes and huffed. “Excuse me, I can tell your new, but I’m in a hurry,” he blurted, already taking his money out of his wallet. I was appalled. My coworker took over as I stood idly by. Now, this is only one person, but it can be expanded to demonstrate how much of a Busy Backson America is. People don’t enjoy or admire the time that they
