My favorite holiday is one where I run downstairs nervous and happy at the same time waiting for the moment I start opening gifts. This holiday I am talking about is Christmas because of the traditions, decorations, and the fact that it can bring families together.
To begin with I love the traditions that we have for Christmas. In the first place, we always make the same food every Christmas. For example, we concoct a dish called paneer butter masala. This dish consists of cottage cheese squares in a smooth, creamy sauce made up of onion and cashews. We also make a pear butter cake that has at least a pound of butter. These foods are my sister and my favorites and when we go to a restaurant we order these foods. Equally important is our Christmas tree. My sister and mom make intertwined rings consisting of construction paper. This creation perfectly describes our family because it shows how we are a very creative family and makes do with what we have. This creation surrounds the tree and looks very crafty. Furthermore, we always put the ornaments on the tree as a family. My mom hands out the ornaments and my dad, sister and I put the ornaments on the tree. My dad puts the ornaments where my sister and I can’t reach. My sister puts the ornaments on the bottom and I put them in the middle. When all the ornaments are finally on the tree we put our paper ring creation on the tree along with the lights. While my sister and I put the lights on my mom and dad put the topper. Without a doubt, the traditions we have as a family are my favorite part of Christmas.
It is my belief that the decorations are another great part of Christmas. In fact, I love the decorations so much I volunteer to put up the decorations. My favorite type of decorations are the ones outside. The part I admire most about the decorations is the projectors we got last year. We received these projectors as a gift from a friend. We used them last year and they looked marvelous. Many of our friends that went to our house commented on them. They can be used at any time of year and have images of everything from Santa to fireworks. One more part I admire about our outdoor decorations are the lights we have in the bushes and the gutters. Every few
My favorite time of the year is the Holiday season, there are four different holidays celebrated in four months in a row, October - Halloween, November - Thanksgiving, December - Christmas, and January - New Years. Right now there is 22 days till Christmas, and we have our Christmas tree up in the house, and I have been wrapping presents for my family, on Saturday I'm going shopping with my mom to finish up my Christmas shopping. I'm also going
Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks for all of our rights and the things that we have. We are very thankful to come home every day to a nice home with food and water, some people don’t have the nice things that we have. The rights that I am thankful for as a citizen of this country are the freedom of religion and the freedom of speech.
Waking up early on Christmas was always a thing my brothers and I did when we were younger. What made those moments so special was all the decorating we did in the week before. Decorating the Christmas tree was always one of my favorites. Seeing the same ornaments year after year never got old for me. I remember stringing out the tangled lights we used for the outside of the house all throughout the yard. I would hand my brothers a string of lights as he stood on the ladder supported by the house. I always enjoyed putting up the little snowman and gingerbread houses throughout my living room. As you get older all the decorating and family time seems to decline, so spending time with family on holidays were always
Before digging into tangled up balls of lights, I raked and mowed her lawn. I decorated her front porch with a wreath, garland, and white lights. For her yard, I put blue lights on the tree and bushes, and set out her snowmen and reindeer. After finishing the yard, I went inside and helped decorate her Christmas tree with blue lights, ornaments, topped off with an angel.
My favorite holiday is Halloween! I like it because I get to go get my costume and I also like it because the Halloween store had millions of costumes covering every square inch of the store. I also love to go through the store trying masks on and taking funny pictures in them. While we're are in the to the Halloween store my brother and I are talking to each other and seeing what we're gonna wear while we're trick or treating, further on in the night we will go to a party and we will go get candy. My favorite part of Halloween if filling my stomach with all the food, goodies, and candy filling up my stomach. also this year we were planning to trick or treating at the gncc or more known as the
The first tradition that I want to talk about is the Christmas tree. Every year, Iand my family go into the bush to get a tree. We find one that looks good and chop it down and use the top. It’is a lovely tradition. The history of the Christmas tree is really vast and substantial. A look at the history of the tree only shows how extensive this history actually is. According to History.com Christmas trees used to
We are not the type of family to throw random ornaments on our tree, like the ones kids make in elementary school, we go all out. I would say our tree is more like something you would see in a home design catalog. We have hundreds of ornaments we use to try and make the tree look different every year. Under the tree we have “the village”. It has a couple of light-up buildings including a museum, a ranger’s station, a ski lodge, and even an ice rink, along with a dozen little figurines. The village is my pride and joy and one of my favorite parts of the holiday season. One year I cried because my mom set it up without me.
The best holiday, in my opinion, would have to be Thanksgiving. There are so many great things about this holiday, especially with my family. There are many things to see, smell, hear, touch, and taste, from the time we get to my grandparents’ house until the time that we leave.
My favorite tradition that I drew was the beach, for me that is my favorite tradition because our friend owns a part of the beach and everyone in my family from Aunts and Uncles and grandparents to cousins rent the cabin there. Everyone in my family gets together at the beach and we all hang out for a couple days on the last week of August. Along with that on the Sunday of the last week my great Aunt brings big bins of little chocolate bars and candy for all of the kids to eat. I don't only like this tradition because of the tasty treats, I enjoy this tradition because I have such a big family that I don't see everyone all the time so when we get together sometimes it's been a year since I last saw them. Overall it’s just nice to be close with my family and get to spend time with them at the beach. That is my favorite
decorations. As a teenager I did not take this very well and an argument ensued.
There are many holidays, secular and religious to chose from. Before deciding on your favorite one, you have to think about what makes a good holiday. First, a good holiday has tradition. Remembering past holidays and stories about how the holiday originated make a holiday memorable. A good holiday also has to have lots of fun. Having fun during a holiday makes it a great break from regular life. The last aspect that makes a holiday great is soothing the problems of daily life with family time. Enjoying what you love with those you love is a great feeling. Based on this criteria, I feel the best holiday is the Jewish holiday of Hannukah.
Some traditions around the tree Some believe the Christmas tree tradition was started in ancient times by Jews who used evergreen boughs to decorate their homes during the late autumn feast of the autumn feast of the tabernacles.some say that the Romans used ever-greens to bring them good fortune during their mid-winter
Me and my older cousins drag the box outside onto the front porch. As I begin to open the box my hands started trembling. I couldn’t tell if my hands were shaking from the excitement or because it was five degrees outside. It took us two hours to put the hoop together. Our lips felt like icicles we were numb from head to toe, but it was worth every moment. It was the most beautiful basketball hoop I ever seen. It was candy apple red and the backboard had lights on it just in case I wanted to play in the dark. I thought Santa Claus gave me the coolest gift in the world.
As a child, my family would celebrate every holiday with grandeur, especially Christmas. We have specific traditions and rituals that we carry out during the season, but the most important of our traditions is what we do on Christmas morning. Our rituals and traditions reflect our values as well as my own of family, unity, and tradition. The morning of the holiday my mother has always woken my brother and I, and then brought us to our dad so we could all walk down to the family room. As we gather in the family room around our tree and presents, my mom serves us each a piece of her Christmas casserole, saved for this special morning. Following our video-taped walk down to our presents, my brother, mother, father, and I open one gift from each other and the first thing in our stocking. After this ritual, my brother and I would go downstairs to our in-law suite where our grandmother lived, to wake up our Mimi and pull her upstairs so that we could finish opening presents and have hot chocolate with our entire family. One Christmas morning
I think Christmas has always been one of my favorite holidays. Maybe because of the special atmosphere that you can feel everywhere, in shops, restaurants , pubs and even streets, where you can hear the magical carols, or maybe it's because of its religious background, but what I can tell you for sure is that I can't think of anything more exciting than the image of the entire family preparing the Christmas Tree or fixing the Christmas dishes.
