Christmas is my favorite time of the year, despite the snow and cold weather. Growing up in a small town with a big family, I was always busy during Christmas holidays. From participating in events hosted by organizations or spending time with my friends and family, I was always in the Christmas spirit. In my hometown of Ramea, everyone is busy hosting and participating in concerts, meals, bake sales, and parties, which I always enjoyed attending. My favorite traditions, however, are those that I created with my family. However, as time passed, my family grew and our traditions changed.
For most of my childhood, my mother and I lived with my grandparents so we never celebrated Christmas alone. Every Christmas Eve my grandmother and I, as our own little tradition, would make Christmas shortbread and “reindeer food.” That night, everyone would put on their pajamas and watched the Christmas cartoons that aired on television that night, eating the cookies that we made earlier that day. Every year, my grandparents give me a new pair of pajamas to wear on Christmas Eve. My favorite tradition of the night was being able to choose one present from under the tree to open. My mom would always wait until I was asleep to put most of the gift under the tree so I usually opened one from a friend. Before I go to bed, I would write a note for Santa Clause and put out the lunches for Santa, usually consisting of milk and cookies, and his reindeer. I always loved sprinkling the mixture of
I can remember the Christmas morning of 2009. I ran downstairs to see what Santa had left me under the tree. When I saw the pink Barbie convertible car I started jumping up and down. I wanted to take it outside immediately and ride it. It was one of my favorite and most loved toys that I ever had. I would drive around in my Barbie car everyday around my neighborhood. My cousins and friends would come on play dates and drive my convertible around the neighborhood. My best Christmas gift was when I received my dog Chloe. I met Santa Claus in The Falls for the first
"Father Christmas goes back in any event to the extent the seventeenth century in Britain, and pictures of him make due from that time, depicting him as an all-around fed whiskery man wearing a long, green, hide lined robe. He embodied the soul of optimism at Christmas" (Wikipedia-Santa). Additionally Christmas is the occasion to unite families for "Christmas traditions include: present giving and fun from Roman Saturnalia; greenery, lights, and philanthropy from the Roman New Year; and Yule logs and different sustenance from Germanic dining experiences." Christmas really is the occasion of giving and family
Christmas, the pinnacle of every holiday and the one day in the year where families gather around, exchange gifts, and honor the birth God's son. This would be the meaning of Christmas for most families but... my family's another story. You see, my cousins make a trip from Texas to North Dakota to visit us for Christmas every year. I know what you're
Placing the real Christmas tree in your home adds a very traditional element to Christmas season. When the Christmas season comes around people looking for purchasing the real Christmas tree for their or working place. When starts the Christmas season, it is the better idea to decorate your home ideally. Kids can get into the spirit by claiming the real tree not only with a tag, but also with hardy decorations as well. When the families designate the tree of choice, they want to return close to the real Christmas tree to cut it down. Certainly one of the important benefits of selecting the tree is that is likely to be fresher. Apart from that, it is last longer than other kind of trees.
In my family, we have various traditions. The one i'm going to talk about is when we stayed awake through the twenty fourth all the way till midnight. Which was considered christmas. After I grew up, I asked my dad. “Why did we stay up at that time just to open presents”? His response was “You didn’t have school the next day and it was a old tradition you grandparents had when I was younger”. It was a tradition that was brought down from
Christmas like Thanksgiving believe it or not, do happen to share many traits. One major factor that the two own is the warmth and love of bringing family and close friends together. It’s the few times a year that everyone has a reason to all gather around to
Waking up early on Christmas was always a thing my brothers and I did when we were younger. What made those moments so special was all the decorating we did in the week before. Decorating the Christmas tree was always one of my favorites. Seeing the same ornaments year after year never got old for me. I remember stringing out the tangled lights we used for the outside of the house all throughout the yard. I would hand my brothers a string of lights as he stood on the ladder supported by the house. I always enjoyed putting up the little snowman and gingerbread houses throughout my living room. As you get older all the decorating and family time seems to decline, so spending time with family on holidays were always
Since I have grown up living across the country from my extended family, I never had the big family experience of getting together for holidays. However, my little family managed to still keep the spirit even though their was not much of us. We have small traditions such as opening one present on Christmas Eve and breaking the wishbone on Thanksgiving. On Christmas Eve, we also eat snack food throughout the day and bake while watching Christmas movies. If we lived in Idaho with the rest of the family, we would join the annual Memorial Day family reunion, where they BBQ and visit family member’s graves. When I do have children someday I plan on passing down the different traditions and maybe creating some of my
Ever since I was a little kid I’ve been going to my grandparents the day after Christmas day. My family would go there and meet up with all the other Woodruffs that would come. It was mostly three or four families if we got lucky. But when we would get together it would be a great time. My grandma isn’t exactly “traditional” as she doesn’t bake cookies or knit sweaters or generic stuff that other grandmas do. But she was still very loving and welcoming.
Christmas is my favorite holiday of the year. I love seeing the shinny Christmas lights that decorates my street and the sound of fresh fallen snow on the ground. Christmas reminds me of family, the laughter and loved we shared, and the gifts we gave to each other. My house on Christmas became the center of my joy.
Christmas is meant for joy and laughter, not injuries and pain. Each year there are hundreds of injuries that occur on the morning of December 25th. When the holiday approaches Americans love to get into the Christmas spirit. Each family celebrates Christmas with their own traditions and rituals that determine their holiday activities. I would have never thought that my family’s traditions for Christmas morning would help me shape my values.
I think Christmas has always been one of my favorite holidays. Maybe because of the special atmosphere that you can feel everywhere, in shops, restaurants , pubs and even streets, where you can hear the magical carols, or maybe it's because of its religious background, but what I can tell you for sure is that I can't think of anything more exciting than the image of the entire family preparing the Christmas Tree or fixing the Christmas dishes.
For Christmas the constant traditions are no different. My family loves Christmas and enjoys getting to spend the time together. For us the celebration starts early, as
Oh, Christmas used to be my favorite holiday. The presents, the eggnog, the snow, the blankets, the food, family, joy, fun! I loved it, I looked forward to it. Every year I’d go out of my way to decorate our house in Christmas decorations. It was amazing.
In the last few years, I’ve cut way back on the number of events and obligations I commit to during the holiday season. I want to enjoy time with my friends and family and relax in the comfort of my home. I don’t want to rush around like a chicken with its head cut off. You can’t do it all, so pick and choose the most meaningful events carefully.
