The in-class workshops, discussions, and activities component of this course definitely enhanced my experience and learning. I think the biggest benefit I derived from this component was the activity of peer review. I found this component helped me to reach the goal of engaging in formal and informal writing that analyzes and critically reflects on my major’s writing conventions and on my own writing practices and choices. In my academic experience, I often receive peer reviews that just say something to the effect of "good job." While it's nice to receive positive feedback it never helped me as a writer. I have always tried to offer solid advice on my peer reviews. I find it difficult to be critical of people's work, but I realize it is part
Working with my peers throughout my program and thesis process has been instrumental to my education. My analysis of my peers work and the critiques I received from them expanded my understanding of my own work and the writing process. The peer review process has contributed to my education by causing me to probe more deeply and examine more thoroughly.
Organize writing to support a central idea through unity, coherence, and logical development appropriate to
This integrative review explores the difference of the onset-to-hospital arrival time between females and males with acute strokes. The results demonstrate that the means and medians of the hospital arrival times among female patients trend toward more delay than male patients, particularly in the Asian-Pacific and Middle Eastern region. However, the various evidences show that gender difference is not statistically significant.
In my peer feedback, I received helpful information to revise and edit my Annotated Bibliography. What I noticed most from both my peer feedbacks is that my APA citations were not accurate. I had completely messed up the doi at the end of each, I needed to fix the capitalization in the titles of the journal articles, and I needed to italicize a couple of the periodical titles. I am thankful for getting that feedback and I made sure to make some changes after becoming aware of the errors. I had initially thought that my APA citations were what I was strong at.
While reflecting on my time at the Chief Petty Officer’s Academy (CPOA), three elements of learning most impacted my persona and changed me as a leader. These elements of learning include both class room presentations and personal interactions with fellow attendees. The three elements of learning that will be discussed in this paper are 360 peer review report, understanding generational gaps, and recognition that everyone has different experiences within the mess. Each element has changed how I view the Coast Guard and will shape my future interactions with others.
For this paper I chose to look for a peer review study that I could relate to. There are a lot of things that we grow up around and don 't really notice the impact that happens around us. I am a science major in college so I have been doing experiments a long time. After reading this study I was very intrigued about how they conducted and executed their experiment in this study. I the article I read was “ An Avenue for Challenging Sexism: Examining the High School Sociology Classroom.” This article was very interesting to me. I went to a small school so we didn 't have sociology classes. It is very interesting to see their approach to teaching about gender. In this paper I will be examining the purpose and goal of this article.
The author started the essay with very good hooks, which includes specifically data and properly quotes. It would be better if the author can explain Body Mass Index more, since I don’t really understand what does “BMI over 25 and BMI OVER 30” means. Then the author explains three of many reasons why many American are obsessed. The first reason is that people are more likely to eat unhealthy foods. The author makes two very good quotes here from scholar source, but it would be better if the author can analyze these quotes more or gave an example. The second reason I think is that it is more profitable if the producer produces unhealthy food. The author demonstrates his argument with a graph, which shows the
There are many important qualities that it will take to become a successful United States Military Academy cadet and successful military officer. I feel that I will be successful if, I use my own experiences and beliefs in life in the Army ,that has groomed me into the leader I am today and the leader I will be in the future. My beliefs in order to be a successful cadet and officer is to always be honest, and to gain the loyalty and respect of your subordinates, peers, and superiors alike.
I am sending a peer evaluation form, and I would like to ask you to keep the information for yourself. Some people will not understand certain things if you try to talk to them about our work, and I really don't want to have problems with anybody, as I will have to work with them for the next two semesters. I wouldn't probably even fill out the form if it's not required because I'm emotionally drained and tired of some people from my group's behaviors. However, I do understand that some of them have experienced serious problems, and that might have caused their difficulties with either organization or timely work.
The planning, brainstorming, and outlining helped a lot it made me write my essay in a better way. Outlining helped me know the main points that should be in each paragraph, that I usually forget to include, it also helped me plan what I want to write in each paragraph. Moreover, brainstorming helped me know which topic I am can do the best in and then I choose my topic and brainstormed my ideas on the topic I picked. So the planning, brainstorming, and outlining help me a lot while writing my essay.
For me the hardest part of this the paper was finding the references. I struggled to find the peer reviewed journals. I ended up using the library references to find the peer reviewed journals. Once I found the web page to search the key words I was able to pull up peer reviewed journals. The paper that was provided by Professor Glenn was also very helpful. The emotional aspect of this paper was challenging. However, the paper allowed me to come to a better understanding of myself. For the first couple of stages I had to ask my parents about what I did. My mom enjoyed talking to me about my childhood. Reflecting on my past help me appreciate the life my parents provide for me. The stages I am in presently were easy to talk about. I did not have to ask other people about these years, I was able just to reflect on what I have done and see if I reached the goal. For the stages I have not reached I got to reflect on what I hope to
We thank the reviewer for his/her thoughtful concern. First, the pups from one mom’s uterus were randomly selected to be electroporated with experimental or control plasmids. To reduce the individual variations from different pregnant moms and human handling differences, we always tried to make sure that control and experimental plasmids was electroporated within one liter. Based on our experience, normally one pregnant female mouse will carry 6 to 8 pups on average, it is not possible to collect enough brains from one liter. As such, for each 3 to 7 brains we collected, 2 to 4 litters have to be electroporated, which is not as reviewer conceived that our results only from a single electroporation.
Hitherto, over millions of articles and paper about research have been published into journal annually. In order for a paper to get published or an article to be documented, researchers tend to present their research findings and results to journal. They further sends the paper out to be assessed based on competency, implication, and originality through autonomous qualified experts who are conducting research and publishing work on the same field. This results must be reviewed by peers in order to attain credibility. This paper identifies a number of sources that clarify the connection between credibility and peer review.
The purpose of this research by Sanderson, Kearney, Kissell, & Salisbury (2016) was to evaluate the use of video-recorded clinical practice effectiveness in providing feedback to students and instructors. The first objective was to assess dental hygiene students’ ability to self-assess correctly. The second objective was to determine how effective clinical instructors graded students in real time. Self-evaluation is a critical element in the dental hygiene profession, because it allows for successful growth and development.
