Self Evaluation Paper In my opinion, I am a good student with the willingness to learn. I have many strengths as a writer like formatting papers and have solid body paragraphs. I also have a few weakness like the length of my body paragraphs and my word choices when writing my conclusion. I still I have many things to work on to make my writing better, but the only way to get better is to practice. I have many strengths as a writer. I have always considered myself a person who pays attention to details which in the long run can be very helpful. One of those details that I payed attention to is how to format an MLA paper properly. I was taught from the beginning of my high school career how to format an MLA paper so it is now ingrained into …show more content…
However, this class has helped me refresh on how to make a thesis statement because eighth grade was a few years ago. An example of one of my thesis statements is “The use of technology and media has positively impacted the world because it has helped connect people together and with anything they could possibly want to know.” My teacher in eighth grade taught me that the introduction should briefly describe some of the points that I would cover in the following body paragraphs. One of the weaknesses I have as a writer is the formatting of my body paragraphs. I often make my body paragraphs extremely lengthy. My high school English teacher has never pointed that out as one of my weakness, so I just recently became aware of this problem. He actually wanted the class to have paragraphs that were pages long before switching to a new paragraph. Another one of my strengths is the content of my body paragraphs. I normally have solid body paragraphs that go more indepth and describe what I briefly mentioned in my introduction paragraph. I have learned from my many years of taking English class that the body paragraphs should give lots of details about the subject that the paper is talking about. I have gotten very good at making body paragraphs because when papers are very long I have to add more body
A primary strength in my writing is my ability to present a strong argument with clarity and support. Another strength I have in writing is a considerable knowledge of appealing to audiences and I take full advantage of my persuasive nature to create solid arguments. Additionally, I find that my writing is enhanced with an extensive vocabulary and a firm grasp on the English langue. I believe these things, the ability to make a sound argument, a strong capacity to appeal to an audience and firm control of vocabulary and language conventions make me a good
As a recent high school graduate I may seem to have many more weaknesses than strengths. But, when brainstorming for ideas to write about I noticed that I had many more strengths than weaknesses, the complete opposite. My strengths allow me to stand out and allow my audience to experience my writing in a positive way. I am very persuasive and can demonstrate to others the way I believe and how I feel about a topic so they can recognize the way I view a certain topic. By being persuasive it is important to show ones opinions and
Since MLA formatting is used in academic papers it is important for me to learn how to do it properly. It was difficult
I learned how to write a paper in MLA format, which i will need to know for
Instead of writing a formal essay, you will write a thesis statement and support your thesis with two body paragraphs. Please complete the graphic organizer below; when you read the body paragraph graphic organizers, they should read as complete and fluent paragraphs:
My vocabulary has improved due to the many words we have learned in English II and I have learned that in order to create the perfect paper, you must have many rough drafts. One of my strengths as a writer has been my editing, which helps me fix the fluidity (one of my weaknesses) of the paper. Another weakness in my writing is not brainstorming before I write. In most instances I am able to start a paper right away but then get stuck after the first or second body paragraph. However, I often fix these mistakes by having multiple peers and mentors read over my drafts. By adding this step to the process of my writing, I am able to produce a stronger paper. My goal in writing for the next year is to improve upon the structure and format of my paper. This could be easily accomplished by learning how to write SCQuIRT paragraph. In the future I hope to be able to build upon my skills as a
The quality of my writing has been very good so far. I have managed to score full points on some of the writing assignments. There were only two writing assignments that I did not receive full points. The Erie RR v. Tompkins case was probably my best one. The paper flowed nicely and I understood what the prompt was asking for. The rewrite of the Washington v. Trump case came at a close second. There was lots of information to be covered in that case. It was probably the most difficult writing assignment because it took a while for me to formulate how I was going to put my ideas into writing. In conclusion, I think my writing has been excellent.
I entered my first-year college composition course believing I was equipped with the knowledge, skill, and ability to write an efficiently researched and well-organized essay. In high school, I learned how to create the traditional five-paragraph paper with its introduction of a thesis, explanation of that claim through three sections riddled with supporting quotes, and conclusion that restated the author’s substantiated statement. This was the prescribed formula I had learned and grown accustomed to using for book reports, compare-and-contrast papers, and research essays and, from my bestowment of high grades and praise, I’d never thought to question or deviate from its pattern. When I attended my first college writing class, I thought
Need for MLA formatting reflection and improvement. In her brief feedback the professor highlighted a need for MLA formatting improvement. This is an admitted weakness of mine as the format is rarely used in my chosen profession. This task is even more difficult due to years of professional writing in Army correspondence style. The old adage of “practice makes perfect” is the best course of action to improve this skill for academic improvement. The AMU library as well as the provided course materials will likely be the best locations for demonstrated works with proper formatting. These resources will be instrumental in my continued improvement and renovation as a writer.
There can be many interpretations of what good writing means to someone. In my eyes, it means to deliver a topic while using your own words. Being able to use the correct grammar and organization plays a significant role in this. Along with these abilities comes the little skills, such as punctuation and spelling. Although having someone tell you that your writing is good can be helpful, it’s not necessary to find out whether it actually is or not. You are able to identify that your writing is good if you are able to clearly read and comprehend what you have written.
There are several observed relationships between the five core job dimensions and age, tenure, and Core Self-Evaluation. Skill variety is the degree to which a job requires different activities, skill sets, and talent. According to the survey, with the average age being 37 one can presume someone at this age could have changed jobs two or three times in their career. A 37 year old would be included within the Generation X demographic and therefore is predicted to change jobs multiple times throughout their career. Someone that has had multiple jobs would be obtaining new skills and abilities and would also be gaining experience dealing with differing personality types within the workplace. At this age someone could be more confident in who
Along with disadvantages of my writing also come the advantages which make me a half way decent writer in my perspective. In writing papers I include many interesting facts about the topic that I am writing on. This skill of being able to research topics good is something that I think is one of my major strengths because of the ability to take the time and patience to weed through tons of material. I am able to take this research that I find and incorporate it into my papers in a fair enough manner that makes my papers have way decent. Another strength that I posses is my
My experiences in writing have been minimal. I have only learned the basics of writing, like putting together sentences, forming paragraphs with sentences, and things like that. Since I have been taking college English, I can tell my writing has improved a lot. In the future, I hope to be able to improve tremendously at writing essays, paragraphs, research papers, documents, and stories so that I have very little to no errors with drafting and final products. I predict I will be a well rounded writer when I graduate from college.
The paper I wrote on technology was an essay. Like most essays, it had 5 paragraphs. An introduction paragraph, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion paragraph. My teacher also had me write an outline to the essay, to help me stay organized in my thoughts. In the introduction paragraph I summarize my main points. I chose three points about technology that I would mention in each of the body paragraphs. In my first body paragraph, I talk about how technology has affected education and the way people can learn. In my second body paragraph, I talk about how technology has changed the way we communicate with people. And in the third paragraph, I talk about how technology has changed the way we entertain ourselves.
