My Greatest Accomplishment My Family Traditions come and go, but some may never change. Most families attempt to keep their traditions alive in their family, whether is it be to do something small like names or something major such as huge celebrations for certain holidays. A tradition that numerous of families seems to keep around, no matter their religion or country, is family dinners on a set day. This allows the families to spend this day with each other, learning how everyone’s week is going, if there is anything that needs done, or if there is any positive or negative news. A local family has a traditional family night dinner on Sundays. They keep in touch throughout the week, but on Sundays they are able to see each other face to face. Slowly, the three girls, Emily, Samantha, and Allison, are taking over cooking the meals. Their parents, grandparents, and uncles are all pitching in to help the girls learn how to properly cook various foods such as hulushki, halupki, homemade pasta, and desserts like cannolis. They are keeping with the tradition of making food to represent their heritage of being Polish and Italian. Other ways the Zaremba’s represent their Italian heritage is by having the Feast of Seven Fish before Christmas. This tradition is to have seven dishes of fish for Christmas Eve dinner; the fish can vary from type of fish or if it is cooked in a certain way. Also “fish” entitles all seafood not just fish. This symbolizes a healthy Christmas. You are required to fast, not eat, the week before ridding yourself of harmful ingredients like too much sugar.
Birth Announcement Denise and Chris Zaremba welcomed their third daughter into the world at 4:51 pm September 29, 2001. She weighed 7lbs and 9 oz. Her sisters aren’t the happiest about having to deal with a younger sibling, but the rest of the family is astounded to have another baby in the family.

There is no other place that would make me work this hard at everything I do, but now I know I could do it. Before being an MEHS student, I relied in only my grades, but getting those good grades with such simplicity was bringing me nowhere. After hearing about Mt. Edgecumbe I was scared that I could not make it up there. After two years of being a student there, I understand that succeeding at Mt. Edgecumbe is no simple task, but it could be done by someone who truly give it everything they have. Although this would be one of he most streaneus accomplishments I had ever achieved, I know I that I could do it if given the
What's mine is yours. Having lived a year in a student hostel I understood this phrase was the best to describe my first year student life. We shared everything: all of bright spots, all of difficult moments, all of the books and all of the cakes. My roommates are my best friends now and I trust them as I would myself. I believe amazing adventures and close friendship are waiting for us too! Also I believe, my dear roommate, you’ll get at least one new hobby living with me. I promise I’ll share to you with my frenzy for mountains. Oh, that’s really amazing! I’m a participant of the university tourist all around team(sports tourism university team member) and every weekend we get to go to incredibly picturesque places of Zailiyskiy Alatau.
Our team practice everyday for 2 hours and our record was 23-1. We were the first team ever to win in our age division to ever win for St.Mary’s. We had a hard time in the beginning of the season. One of our best players injured her knee. She was running towards the loose ball and her knee twisted. She was out for the rest of the season. Looking back on it made me better because I learned how hard you to to practice or try to achieve your goal.
One option is to choose holidays that aren't as popular to celebrate with big family dinners, such as Valentine's Day and Memorial Day. Another option is to choose the day before or after these holidays, when most people are off work, but family events aren't as likely to take
This week materials are mainly focusing on food. The readings are about how food, especially dinner, has an important role in the family, how the way we live affects the way we eat and the regional of our food. As in Michael Pollan’s book, The Omnivore’s Dilemma, he was explaining how corn is in all of our diets. How it moved from the farm to the feeding lot, to the food lab and into our food. Further analysis of food, and of the sources that describes the food we eat, suggests that it requires a lot of work in the agriculture farm before our ingredients can come together and that mealtime is a great time for a family bonding but the bonding varies with each family due to the different in every families’ culture.
When assigned my first essay, “My Greatest Accomplishment,” I took time to brainstorm different ideas that defined me. The accomplishment that stood out the most to me was qualifying for State Track in four events on a sprained ankle. While writing this essay, I felt like a baby learning how to walk. My writing was unsteady and I took a few tumbles trying to get the paragraphs to flow. This reminded me of trying to run on my sprained ankle at the State-qualifying meet. However, like I finished the paper, I finished my events with qualifying times. I knew the essay would prove difficult, but I grew hopeful while writing because I knew I had numerous
The recession was becoming a huge thing for the American people in 2008. People began to lose their houses; people were laid off their jobs you see more homeless in the streets. Soon the American people were scared that the recession will soon hit to the depression. Unfortunately, my family were the ones effected by the recession and we end up losing are house and my father was laid off from his job so we end up living with are aunt. My father tries to get back to his feet by selling some are things in a garage sale. After all, that my dad decided to go to school for a CDL training program so he can become a truck driver. It took him 4 months until he got his CDL and then obtain a job at Bolingbrook. We were finally getting back to are feet and then I graduated in 2012 and then I decided to get a job instead of going straight to college. The reason I chose to get a job first was because so I can help my family; and to tell you the truth the job I obtain was my first job ever and the only reason I obtain this job because my father sister helped me get in so you can imagine how nervous I was when I first started. I really wanted to make a good impression and show them I was a hard worker. So the position they give me was shipping and receiving clerk and I’m like it doesn’t sound so hard.
As a black male who grew up in a low-income family in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and recently immigrated to the US, I am confident that I will significantly contribute to the diversity and education of the University of Colorado School of Medicine community. Through my unique perspectives, community awareness, and personal resilience I know that I will be a positive attribute the CUSOM and the communities it serves.
I was born to a Mexican American family; I had the privilege of being the first child of three kids. As I grew up I had big dreams I wanted to accomplish, like become an artist or a famous singer. Well I basically wanted to become famous, travel and be someone in life. It was not until I enter middle school when I told myself that I needed to study something that was realistic and that I could live from. This was when my goals got real, I was determined to get a professional career and set an example for my siblings. It was here when I started to have an interest for teaching. Although before all determination I had a struggle in school, since I entered school I was placed in a bilingual classroom, which was fine at first. As I continued elementary
My most significant accomplishment would have to be maintaining who I am, and keeping my grades up through the tests of life. Even though it is a broad topic, seeing as there are so many things that life throws at each of us, it really is a big deal to me. Staying true to myself through everything is one of my biggest goals in life, and I am happy to say that I have managed to do that so far. One thing I have learned through all of this is that it takes a lot to really become who you want to be, and you have to be very understanding of what makes others the way they are.
My major accomplishments will be regarded as reaching out to the professional Hockey league. To reach out to my goal, I would have to work and train hard or I will not make it. Also that would include missing out on hanging out with my friends, going to parties, and avoiding circumstance were drinking, or drugs come in place, because both of those would end my career.
“Whenever you read a good book, somewhere in the world a door opens to allow in more light.” by Vera Nazarian. Notably, many of us should live up to this quote, however, it is said more like a statement or a fact of life, a book is a dream, a thought, a powerhouse. The latest one I have touched, glanced over and read was The Assassin's Blade by Sarah J. Mass. To include, it may be a foolish book in some eyes, however, no book is too foolish in my eyes, this book has romance, adventure, action, mystery, and last but certainly not the least is fantasy. Indeed, fantasy is the main reason why people like, you and I, try to reach our goals. In addition, the main character is a menace, and her name is Celaena and we see her life in the assassin's guild to when she gets out of the assassin's guild.
Many families have their own special time or activity that everyone loves to do and that creates long lasting memories. Bonding can happen through any number of events but when food is brought to the table it makes a completely different impact. Through cooking with your family or friends that bonding can be taken to the next level. Through cooking food it relaxes people and inevitable people begin to open up to the other people in the room. An article in the The Atlantic written by Cody Delistraty wrote how, “The dinner table can act as a unifier, a place of community. Sharing a meal is an excuse to catch up and talk, one of the few times where people are happy to put aside their work and take time out of their day”(Delistraty). Though eating
Numerous people like George Washington, Michael Jordan, and Dr. Martin L. King Jr have had major accomplishments that helped achieve a goal to change their future in a certain way. Moreover, accomplishments have great importance in one’s life. They help improve one’s self-esteem, also, they give encouragement to succeed and achieve a goal.
The instance that I felt the most significant sense of accomplishment was in the seventh grade. At the time, I was learning how to program and was struggling to understand how to proceed with the project that I was working on. I remember spending a few days on the project–a simple calculator, trivial now but back then it was a mountain of a task. After a long session of learning I finally got the program to work, a simple GUI where I could do many powerful but simple calculations; I was ecstatic. I felt like I could learn more and do more and build things that were fun and stimulating. That feeling has kept with me through my self-study of computer science and my work in programming. It has been a quite significant turning point in my development
