Choosing this field is something that has a deep connection with my personal life. Becoming a Diagnostic Medical sonographer would mean that I have accomplished what I have promised someone who is very dear to me. Ever since I was a little, I always wanted to be in the medical field. I always had a big heart and wanted to help people so when I saw the important role that sonographers play in the medical field, it became clear to me that, being a sonographer was exactly what I want to do with my life. In 2007 someone who was very important to me passed away due to gastric cancer. When my grandmother, who was a mother, father, and a friend to me was diagnosed with gastric cancer my world collapsed. It was devastating news not only for me, but also for the whole family. At the time my grandmother didn’t speak English, so it was very hard for her to understand what the doctors and the stuff were saying. During the endoscopy procedure to determine the stage of her cancer, she said it was the sonographer who made her feel calm and treated her with dignity, even though she did not understand her language, that did not stop the sonographer from showing compassion to her patients. So it was that great care and sense of compassion that made me greatly appreciate what sonographers do to help their patients. Seeing the important role that sonographers play in the medical field made me realize that, becoming a sonographer would be fulfilling profession for me that would absolutely fit my
I want to be part of the Ultrasound program because I realized that where I’m from people don’t consider going into a major like this. I was raised to become a doctor or a nurse it was either of those or your family will be disappointed. I looked at how many doctors and nurses my community has but rarely any ultrasound technicians. I also like to travel to different parts of the world and I would love to have those skills as a ultrasound technician to help those women who are unable to afford to go to a clinic to see if their baby is in good condition. A woman should never have to choose between making a decision about losing her kid, I want to be able to help those women that are struggling daily whether their baby has a health condition or even letting the parents know their baby gender.

I am a senior in high school and therefore I haven’t fully picked my major yet, but I have narrowed it down. For my major I am still trying to choose between Radiology and Sonography. I can’t choose because I’ve been in love with both topics for years. I’ve shadowed my cousin who works as an x-ray technician and I have volunteered in the sonography lab at Angelina College. I want to do Radiology because I love looking a x-rays of broken bones and trying to figure how that person fell and landed to break there arm in that certain way, to me that is just so fascinating. But I also want to do Sonography because you have to interact with so many different people. One of the girls in the sonography lab told me something that fascinates me so much, she said that in Sonography you have to make your own

I shadowed Dr. Martin Skie at the University of Toledo Medical Center when I started contemplating a career as a physician. He is an orthopedic surgeon and I had the privilege to shadow during several surgeries, and throughout clinical rotations. I spent over fifty hours shadowing him over the course of a month. I also had the opportunity to shadow Dr. Zachary Ginsberg, an intensivist, in Kettering Medical Center’s intensive care unit. I was able to discuss the patients, their conditions, the lab results, imaging studies, medications, procedures, and the science behind the thought process while shadowing for over one hundred hours over several months. Both opportunities provided insight into different specialties and sparked my interest.Since
I have always known since I was a little girl that I wanted to be something in the medical field. There was never a doubt about that. It took a lot of thinking to figure out what exactly it was that I wanted to be just because I didn’t want to go to school for too long; because as I have mentioned before I am not a fan of school at all. Just recently I had finally found the right career path. I had decided that I wanted to be a Traveling Sonographer. This is perfect for me because it won’t take me forever to accomplish and I will be able to travel like I’ve always wanted to do. But there is also a deeper reasoning to why I want to be a Sonographer, and I'm going to talk about that in this paper.
My interest in Sonography first stemmed from another career interest in computers. I gained my problem solving skills at a young age through using computers. I was able to decipher different codes and morph them into something new. When something went amiss with the computer I would know what procedure to use in order to fix the computer. I loved the feeling of taking something broken and making it full of potential again. However, I knew I wanted to do something more than working with technology. I also had an interest in the medical field. I loved visiting the doctor. I was fascinated how the doctors and nurses could use their problem solving skills as well as their compassion to change someone’s life. I wanted to make a difference in people’s
Diagnostic Medical Sonography is a career that I just learned about this year. I never expected to do anything in the medical field but the more I research about this career, the more it interests me. I love helping people and another career path I have looked at is something in pediatrics. With sonography, I would be able to look at the fetus and make sure everything is fine with the pregnancy. There would be many aspects of this job that I think I would enjoy.
Deciding to be a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer was not an easy or fast decision. Like everything else in life, my decision was gradual and time-consuming. However, being involved in the medical field was always something that I longed to do. Most other kids want to be a firefighter, police man, or President of the United States. For me I always knew that my heart belonged in the hospital.

My influence for wanting to enroll into multispecailty sonography came from a very moving expirence I had, I 've known since I was a kid I wanted to work in health care to get the chance to help and care for patients, I never knew where exactly I would fit into the health care world or where I wanted my career to take me, until I saw my first sonogram while pregnant, I was absouletly enthralled when I got to see the sonogram. Although my pregnancy ended soon after I never lost the intrest in wanting to do sonography.
Sonography has many good and bad disadvantages. One of the advantages this career has is that you will be looking at baby’s. You will be the first person to tell any mother what the baby will be a girl or boy. You will bring joy to both parents mom and dad just by saying “It’s a Girl” or “Its a boy”. Another advantage is that you will be in touch with you patients you will have to listen to what they have to tell you. What i’m actually saying about this is that many of your patients will get emotional and you will have to be there to support them. Just as there is advantages there is also disadvantages. One of the disadvantages is that you may have to work over time you will be standing up 98% of the time. You might also have to work night shifts depending on what hospital you actually get a job at. but in my opinion i feel like being a sonographer is amazing.
