I have always had an interest in health, fitness and personal training. I enjoyed the challenge of strength conditioning when I coached gymnastics. I do have is a genuine love for exercise. I love to run. I am addicted to Barre3 and I actually enjoy the challenge of weight training. So, why can't I share my passion with other woman? yet for several years I believed I could not have a successful career in health and fitness because I am not a size two and I certainly don't have a six pack!

My goal is to guide woman who want to make healthy
Many discourage new forms of exercise because it can be scary to try something that they have never tried before. Many who get bored easily once they mastered something and want to try their hand at something new. However many of these individuals are older and can find discouragement when seeing someone younger than them being better. However in a group setting many can find comfort with other people to give them tips and tricks as well as learning with others in the some level and
Women have always had less involvement in sport than men. There may be reasons as to why women have less involvement. They may stop playing sport to focus on other thing like having children or a family. Women with family may also find it difficult due to a lack of money and time. These barriers can occur at any level of sports continuum from someone who may just want to exercise to keep fit (participation stage) but feels they can’t as the only classes available to them are mixed sex classes which they are not comfortable with. Other example, of the barriers to women may be that at the performance or excellence stage lack sponsorship, media coverage and government funding in women’s sport. This in turn means that women are unable to continue sport as a career and are limited to the level they are able to achieve as they can’t live by only playing sports and must get a job. There has been a large improvement in the amount of women involved in sport since scheme and government funded activities have been put in place to increase numbers of women’s only classes, competitive clubs and female teams in traditional male sport such as rugby, football and
Women can’t show their full potential in society. They get bashed for their body, or for even expressing their body.
New York Times journalist Karen Crouse described this lack of coverage seen for female sports. Crouse said the modern day female athlete feels “as if she is the sum total of her physical assets—or invisible” (LaVoi, 2013, p. 40).
It used to be that women were not allowed to participate in sports-- beyond just being seen as unbecoming and unfeminine, it was actually believed that physical activity would harm a woman's reproductive system. Men did not think that women should or could do the same
When most people think about the gym and the people that go they generalize them way too much. People mainly think it’s just guys who have a huge ego, wear tank tops, and do nothing but check themselves out the whole time. The only reason why they go to the gym is to get girls and showoff. What if I told you yes, there are some people at the gym like that but not all. Those people at the gym are what I like to call “ Ego lifters” they don't lift for themselves but for the attention of others. There are so many types of other people at the gym then just these “Ego lifters”. There’s people that I like to call Girlie girls, Cardio Extremists, and Senior Citizens.
women can play any sport they want. This leads me to speak about the factors that
Clear, J. (n.d.). Why everyone should lift weights: 3 benefits that nobody ever talks about.
On the other side of the coin, there are some women who do not let something as little as creating a life stand in their way of exercise. These are the women we might see actually teaching a class at the gym, or speed walking throughout our neighborhood with their protruding bellies.
Women in our society today are often hypersexualized and seen as less than men. Society perpetuates the myth that the female body is weak (Ros & Basow, 2004). The Body Issue magazine; helps in promoting the change in viewpoints of our women and does a good job challenging the assumptions of the idealized feminine form. I believe that The Body Issue and the image I chose is a source of empowerment for physically active women and non-active women alike. The women themselves see this photoshoot as empowering. For example, Nzingha Prescod states, “I'm so proud of how hard I've worked for this body. It's the most genuine display of my dedication. I hope my feature encourages women everywhere to embrace muscles and strength and to love their bodies.”
What is weight training, why is it useful, and how to go about it? According to the online Merriam-Webster Dictionary weight training is “a system of conditioning involving lifting weights especially for strength and endurance”. Weight training is often associated with athletes, and while this is not incorrect, it’s the health benefits for the everyday person that you rarely hear about. Some of these being: Increasing our capacity for physical work, improves bone density, promotes lean muscle mass, increases the strength of muscles and tendons helping to lower the risks for injuries, and helps us to manage our weight which can help with both physical and emotional health. Ok so those theoretically sound like good benefits but how does one go about acquiring them? The most common route is heading to
My belief is that gender stereotypes are playing a role in these men and women’s desire to exercise. In most societies,
If I could make a significant change to the structure or appearance of my school, it would be the air conditioner, because it is so hot especially in the summertime in the gym and cafeteria.Another reason is that the school walls are to plain they look so boring.Microwaves are a huge part of the cafeteria and the fact that it's hot the lines are super long just to heat up your food.
Some women athletes are still not accepted. Women who body-build are not given the same respect as men who do. While many
Back in those days of the Greek and Roman women were not able to participate in physical education and sport to the same degree as men, so they never had the same chances that men did. Greeks would never let women partake in physical education, but the Romans were not quite as harsh letting them occasionally do dancing or light exercise. Once the fall of the Roman Empire happened it became what was known as the dark ages for physical education (Siedentop 25). It was a period of 1,000 years “in which physical activity, sport, and fitness diminished in importance amid political and economic chaos” (Siedentop 25).
