Entering the path to high school was a very important event due to how the school was bilingual, teaching both English and Spanish. I personally thought it was going to be challenging due to the double amount of assignments. However, the school introduced a music program, that was mandatory for all students. I thought of it as a way to distract myself from all the academics. That’s when I became a trumpet player. As a high school student, I was able to cultivate skills that would help me become a more reliable person not only with others, but also with myself. While practicing in the wind ensemble, I was able to persevere with the work, have punctuality in all my classes, show independence whenever it was necessary, and share my knowledge among …show more content…
I remembered when working on research papers for the English and Spanish, I had to constantly received constructive critique from my peers and teachers. I never neglected the comments I received from them, especially knowing that these were going to improve my writing skills. There’s the time when in the sophomore high school year, when one of my music teachers introduced me to an extracurricular music program that was held on the weekends. In the program, the participants were all from middle school to high school, and the music level was very difficult. I remembered feeling very demotivated because I did not have enough music skills like the other students, but I had to put extra effort on weekdays after school, where I had to constantly played the same parts over and over again. At the end of the program, I was invited again for the next three years. Lastly, there’s the challenge of revising the assignments asked by the professor. I was constantly struggling in the Spanish class, so my teacher would usually give me a second chance to improve my work. I had to find time after school, so I could receive help from the teacher and worked on exercises that would improve my …show more content…
For instance, in music class, whenever the teachers were absent, the student were asked to work together in groups as a way to practice whatever needed improvement. I would sometimes work with the trumpet section as a way, so we can sound better as a section. The questions from the students were based on the rhythms, instrumental notes, or ways to improve the playing style. Sometimes we worked in a separate classroom where we would sit in a circle and talked about ways to improve as a group or as an individual. In my senior year of high school, I was taking Calculus and AP Calculus, which were the most challenging subjects throughout all previous years. The teacher recommended me to study and ask question frequently, so I wouldn’t miss any relevant detail from the lessons. I remembered a certain occasion when I was very confused on a certain process that I had to take time from one my classmates, so I could ask him to teach on one-one on this process. It took me several days to understand it. I would constantly ask the teacher for more problems related to the process. Enriching the skills learned as a way to contribute to my learning when working independently or dependently helped me become a better young adult. As I kept working efficiently in high school, I had to always consider what would be the skills that I would need the most when I start college because it would
Learning and development can also help individuals plan future career plans and open more career opportunities for themselves.
If exceptional grades and numerous excellence awards are to indicate anything, I have succeeded academically thus far. However, such achievements are only possible because of my work ethic and determination. I pride myself on submitting my best work, pitting myself against my past performances. I remember my tenth grade English class; I was writing essays every week. I took every critique from my teacher and considered it for the next piece. Experience I gained from that class carried over into eleventh grade, where I achieved the highest English grade I have ever made. Even now, I look back at my older essays to help me write, so I know what works and what to avoid. Perseverance through school and desire to improve have carried me well, even through activities outside of my education.
Throughout my life, I have been taken by music. However, it was not until my 8th grade year in middle school that I realized that I could be a musician for the rest of my life. Before that, music just seemed like something to keep me out of trouble. I wasn’t the best player at that time, and I still knew very little about it all. How could something like that ever support someone? Still, it was the only talent that I could find any success in, and it was still very enjoyable, so I wanted to still give it a shot.
Learning resources that could be used to further my growth and study such as setting up conference with parents and using my online training that my job provided me to help me on day to day basis since every situation different. I learned that different people have different plans on getting better some takes longer while others get better faster some can perform more things quicker and better while for others it takes time. I’ve learned to evaluate my client assignments by observing their day to day activities, behaviors and

I believe being involved in service around town and in high school has taught me life-long skills that will continue to carry me
Another life skill that i used was was morals and vaules. I stood up for what i believed in. Although, it had not come to my mind until those last two years of high school that all this practice work that I focused on and put all my energy towards was to strengthen my skills. The skills that will be carried along with me towards my success in the future. Being able to learn these methods of skill at an earlier age would have made my life a whole lot simpler.
Asses Tod - Play this piece with an appropriate dark ensemble tone color, and a wide dynamic range is required from the performers.
I identify myself as a part of the music program; I have a background with music; I have an interest in what music is and I have a talent in music. I need to add in any application that I have been a part of the music program since the start of my music career. Music has played a part in who I am.
While working, I gained knowledge in the aspect of economics. It made me realize that the economic world is more complicated than I originally thought. Dealing with real estate documents and foreclosure letters, I not only gained intellectual knowledge through economic jargon, but also gained emotional growth. I learned how to best deal with people going through tough times, and ensure that their goals are met.
I learned how to effectively work with others as a team for the desired end result. Engaging in service projects that provide me with such a significant takeaway is indeed a
My freshman year I played trumpet in my school band where I developed my musical understanding of music notes, rhythms and pitches. But I hated playing the trumpet, I was never any good at it; however, one day thinking I was alone, I was singing through the halls and my music teacher stopped me and told me to join our chorus. From that moment, my highschool career changed.
The VPA Music Program accepts only the most capable young musicians. This is one of many reasons I’d like to participate in the program. I believe that being around talented people allows for a beneficial exchange of knowledge. I aim to be around those that strive to better themselves and work endlessly to reach their goals. Likewise, I would constantly challenge myself. At school, nothing terribly new happens and I’d like the opportunity to switch things up. We are given a short time period to work and as a percussionist, I spend some time learning by myself. Though it’s nice practicing alone, I’d like to spend more time with an instructor. Having access to multiple instructors and musicians from all over allows access to many new perspectives
