Everyday there is a new baby born. Everyday the same baby is given a name that they will use throughout their lifetime, creating a meaning for. Everyday an individual is changing. Consequently, everyday an individual transforms the meaning of their name to suit their constantly changing self. That being said, no matter the name, everyone develops a different interpretation of what their name means to them.
Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve always been outspoken about my beliefs. In preschool, one of the teachers, Miss Lisa, joked to the class that there would be no snack time. So, my tiny outspoken self, ran up to the classroom, placed my hands on my little hips and squealed, “Miss Lisa you’re kidding! You can’t do that!”. Although I

Although my family members did not know the precise meaning when I was growing up, this definition can signify many traits I carry as an individual. Throughout my childhood, I was surrounded by Disney. My two aunts loved Disney, my mom, my grandma, my sister, my cousins, everybody loved Disney. Naturally, when I grew up I would love Disney too; and I did. My favorite Disney princess was Cinderella which triggered the nickname, “Sadiella”, a mashup between Sadie and Cinderella. This nickname was spot on since I was practically obsessed with Cinderella. I remember I used to have dolls, pajamas, t shirts, shoes of Cinderella. I dressed up as her for Halloween, I had barbie dolls and castles, the whole nine yards. Suffice it to say, I was trying to be Cinderella. Although the other princesses were admirably amazing, Cinderella stuck out to me for one reason only: her positive attitude and hope. Cinderella always had a positive attitude on life with an energy filled aura that intoxicated the people around her with joy. (except her step-relatives). That type of mindset and essence Cinderella acquired, inspired me throughout my childhood, and still to this day, to be a better person. If being a princess encourages others to be kind, have hope, and stay positive, I will gladly strive to live up to the official meaning of my name; a …show more content…
When I was barely a toddler, I had the tendency to beat up on my father’s friends. I would smack them in the face, or hit them in the belly, but then hug them right afterwards. During one of these occurrences, I earned the nickname, “Little Bit”. One of my father’s friends was holding me and I, sporadically, hit him square between the eyes at the bridge of his nose. The next sentence to come out of his mouth was, “You little bit-”. He had to stop mid sentence since I was only a kid, but ever since that moment I was referred to as “Little Bit”. My father told me I was “a little bit of angel and a little bit of a devil”. Besides the literal interpretation of being both an angel and a devil, I consider myself to actually be a little bit of everything. I can be a party animal, or a reserved introvert. Music and the arts are my passion, but so is tennis. Never will I limit myself to one activity or lifestyle. Trying new things and being involved is what makes a person unique; they are what make up each chapter in a person's book of life. To summarize, if the name Sadie was to be defined in one sentence, it would be “a little bit of everything” because being a little bit of everything can add a lot of excitement and pleasure into one's
A name represents many things, for one it can be used to identify or call you by. But have you ever thought what your name or anyone name meant? “It is really funny for me when people call me princess. It’s actually comes from my childhood. I loved Disney princesses and was a huge fan of them especially Cinderella’s honestly I am still. My parents were trying to dress me like a princess because they knew how I liked it. I had a lot of different kind of crowns, which I would wear at home, and sometimes outside of course when I was a kid. All my school notebooks and book covers were covered with pictures of princesses. I really loved how princesses looked how they were dressed, and act. Whenever my parents were asking who I want to be on my birthday party or on different kind of celebrations the answer always was, of course, a princess ” said Tatishvili.
Every little girl wants to be a Disney princess at some point in their life, I was not different. There’s something about the good heart a princess has and the love she garners, that was special to me. Through the Arteisa Pageant, I have found my chance. I didn't realize that being a princess really did mean you were serving the community, and I wasn’t just a figure. I went out and did many things that have involved serving my community such as painting a house for a resident, handing out candy to kids for Halloween and encouraging literature to be read to children by reading to them at the Artesia library.
Lucky for us, everyone has a name that is unique to them. This subject of the meaning behind names has really interested me, and has driven me to dig deep and find the origins of my first, middle, and last names. A quote that I think has a deep meaning is, “Tigers die and leave their skins; people die and leave their names.” If you think about it, this quote has a very real truth.
In our modern society parents want to know who the best role models are for their children; especially parents of young girls. Most girls are introduced to Disney Princesses at a young age, but what most parents don’t know is that not all Disney Princesses are positive role models of modern society. The princesses were amazing role models for their time but since then many opinions have changed on what is expected of women and what is not some; people in society today can argue weather certain qualities that the princesses posses are acceptable for today’s youth. The most famous princesses are the “Original Disney Princesses” :(in chronological order) Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, and Mulan.
The bond of family is something to be cherished. It is no longer there simply for reasons of survival, families exist because it gives us humans identity in both a physical and figurative way. Our name is what we gain from our family. We also inherit the expectations of the family. But, over time we become our identity and that is the figurative. I could give you a list of names that you have heard of and that identity is connected to past events or the personality of the person, but to you now, the name is a personification of that personality or the way you felt in past events. This is the reality of names, and the way we perceive each other. Thusly, Ezinma form Chinua Achebe’s, Things Fall Apart, represents more than just her name. She represents, resilience, strength, relief, and comradery.
Growing up, I was like all of the other little girls. I was obsessed with the Disney Princesses. I knew every word to all of the songs, I dressed up as one every Halloween, and I owned all of the movies. Whenever we went to visit my dad at work, I introduced myself as “Princess Leah Snow White” and that’s how his colleagues addressed
Choosing a name for a newborn is complicated. Not only should not it sound right with the family name but future nicknames - good and bad - need to be taken into consideration. A name might, honor a favorite grandparent or parents. Pretty much everyone has wondered at one time or another: "What does my name mean?" Professor James Bruning from Ohio University states that the impact of names comes from how people expect to see you. And while prejudging someone based on their name might seem unfair, we sometimes do so when making decisions. Bruning notes, for example, that those with an Oriental name are thought to be good at math, so an employer looking to hire a computer programmer might push an application to the top of the pile if they see
Despite the fact that I am unabashedly myself and unintentionally vocal about most, if not all, of my opinions, I’ve never had a large confrontational moment in my life. The only instances in which I’ve had to defend what I believe in develop from the ideological clashes I have with my family.
There are many ways of which you can interpret the word NAME but truly there is no actual definition. Just like how Juliet once famously said “What’s in a name? That which we call a rose...which is no part of thee,Take all myself.” (2.2.46-52). This quote is a great example of how a name is of no real reason and something of a different name could even be as sweet as a rose.
My name means promise/ agreement. My grandmother named me. My sister and I are 7 years, 7 days, and almost 7 hours apart 6 hours 42 minutes to be exact. My mom said that she thought God was trying to tell her something and that’s why I got my name. I also have two middle names Abigail and San Marie. My mom said that she wanted a Gabby and an Abbie so she made my middle name Abigail. My other middle name, San Marie, is also special because it came from my grandmother and my mom’s best friend. I love my name, and even though sometimes I feel like it’s really long and complicated the meaning behind it makes my name feel so special to me.
One underlying narrative of the entire story is that in order for one to be a good girl, one should ascribe to the rigidly defined gender goals and behaviors. From the onset of the movie, the narrator states that once upon a time there lived a sweet and beautiful girl who went by the name of Cinderella and was loved by everyone. The narrator goes on to describe Cinderella as sweet, gentle and kind. This description implies that she is loved for these qualities that are largely gendered feminine by the society i.e. kindness, sweetness, and gentleness. The audience sees this message
For every person ever created there is meaning behind there name, and I am not an exception. Names clearly define the characteristics of a person. Studyings someone's name can give insight into the personality that one might posses. Parents are drawn to certain names that will help continue their legacy for years to come. Sydney Katherine Weber has specific meanings and origins, but like all other names it has a story behind it that leads up to who I am as a person today.
