What do you intend to do? Why is this idea suitable for an action research experiment?
I intend to focus my research on pedagogical grammar as a more general term and more specifically on different teaching methods and strategies to motivate students to learn grammar in the second language and integrate it successfully in their communication and raise their achievement in exams and beyond. As a linguist, having studied myself English as a second language, followed by French and afterwards Spanish, I am very much intrigued by the Second Language Acquisition (SLA) process and especially how grammar is learned in the second language.
According to Pachler (1999), grammar “allows us to keep manageable the vocabulary we need to communicate effectively and accurately about both simple and complex matters” (Pachler, Norbert, (1999), Teaching and learning grammar in Learning to teach modern foreign languages at advanced level, Routledge, London: Taylor and Francis Group). Therefore, I believe that practising different strategies and activities in teaching grammar is a suitable idea for my action research due to the constant fluctuation of its role, subsequently its decline across the years in terms of the MFL National Curriculum in England, and its current revival in the new curriculum. I will be focusing mainly on the grammar of the target language and its application, including translation, its challenges and moreover on a range of vocabulary structures for communicative purposes.
Many popular theories of second language acquisition have been analyzed throughout history. The socialization of L2 learners, their present emotional state that is present at time of acquisition, as well as the comprehensible input and output with the use of scaffolding play a major role in second language acquisition. Let us also not forget the importance of written expression as well as reading comprehension with these L2 learners. Each play a role in language development. However, I believe that in acquiring a language, one must use a variety of techniques that work together to create a balance within the learning environment. Furthermore, all L2 learners learn differently and so a variety of resources will need to be used based on the ability of each student. There are many theories that have been developed by highly qualified experts in the field on linguistics. However, I will address those areas that I agree with as I present my personal theories on second language acquisition.

Reading chapter six from Beyond Grammar Language, Power, and the Classroom, written by Mary R. Harmon and Marilyn J. Wilson has open my eyes not to base peoples’ language off from standard American English because everyone has a different dialect depending on their culture. I am going to be more mindful of peoples’ dialect, and not be quick to judge a person based on their language because a person's language is what makes that individual unique. Instead, I am going to embrace the different dialects and use them as an advantage when teaching a classroom
School has always been a place of business, in my opinion. A place where we are educated and prepared for life, essentially. And the proper way of doing so, as I believe most people have been taught, is to enhance all skills such as vocabulary, grammar, mathematics, etc... This is why we are taught so many subjects, being tested and guided to follow whichever path we feel most comfortable or skilled at doing. During the process, is where skills are established and developed. The product that is intended after having gone through school is to shape a well skilled, educated, and productive person that can benefit society as a whole. In limiting the teaching of Standard American English, we would be limiting the amount of people that can fulfill their potential, raise the difficulty for teachers, and accept mediocrity. In keeping this dialect, students will gain new skills and learn the language of business to prepare them for any encounters along the way. There is no need, in my eyes, to minimize or put an extent to teaching the English dialect and that is what I will personally support in this essay.
Grammar is important in judging a potential date because most people want to date someone who is smart. When someone goes on a dating website to look for the right person they first look to see that they have similar interest. Once they see that they click on the profile to look at the picture on the profile. When they see that the person in the picture is good looking they become excited because they think it will be a perfect match. Then they click the tab that says read bio. When they read the person’s bio they notice that there is a lot of bad grammar and spelling errors. Then they start to think to themselves if they should meet up with the person with bad grammar and spelling errors. After 20 minutes of thinking they then decide to instant message the other person. There are plenty of teaching methods that are used to teach a language, they developed over the years and centuries, in this essay two well-known teaching methods will be discussed, their principles, their advantages, and their drawbacks, these methods are Grammar Translation Method and The Direct Method.
Some linguistic models try to explain the development of second language acquisition. The three most common models are (1) the Universal Grammar Model, (2) the Competition Model, and (3) the Monitor Model. The Universal Grammar Model refers to the system of principles, conditions, and rules that are properties or elements of all human languages. At the same time, each language has grammatical rules that vary from one language to another. Thus, Chomky states that different languages have a limited possibility of different grammatical structures (1975). Therefore, second language learners base their second language acquisition on universal principles common to all languages, and on the force of the particular rules of each language. All of those can be concluded that as a human, especially as children, we have vary form of rules in language, in this case is second language.

I started learning English as a second language when I was in first intermediate. I still remember my first classes and my first teachers. I remember that my teachers changed frequently in the first year but all of them have much in common. All of them used grammar translation method.
