THE END IS NIGH.
Or rather, the end of my time in Morocco is approaching, and I’ve got some thoughts about that. But first, I’ll let you know what kind of nonsense I’ve been up to lately.
For starters, I’ve learned that if my host sister says we’re going on a picnic, what she really means is that we’re going to the forest to hike, and there isn’t actually any food involved at all. This is an important lesson that I wish I’d learned before I was whisked away to the woods this Sunday morning. Not to say that I was disappointed. I very much enjoyed the experience, and it was a great opportunity to spend some time with my host sister before my homestay ended. We had a lovely view of the ocean, and even got to see one of Tangier’s most

Unlike the traditional bath, the soap at this spa didn’t possess a horrendous odor, and the hammam lady seemed like she didn’t want to cause me any pain. Plus, there were massages, manicures, waxing, and whatever else fancy people do when they’re spa-ing.
The hammam also provided a much-needed opportunity for stress-relief, which I desperately needed after the “re-entry” workshop I had been subjected to the day before. Since this is our final week in Tangier, we were required to attend the workshop in order to reflect on our experiences and prepare to re-adjust to life in the U.S., i.e. avoiding “reverse culture shock.” (What is reverse culture shock? This link will tell you, because I don’t feel like doing that.) However, the workshop just turned out to be another opportunity for me to put up with nonsense. I won’t go into any details about what went down because that doesn’t matter, but I’ll give my two-cents on a couple of points.
First: This is a fully-paid opportunity to study abroad, and the program only lasts eight weeks. I believe that reverse culture shock is real and stressful, but if that’s the going to be the biggest problem I have in my life right now, that’s fine by me.

Second: Cultural appropriation is real and problematic. You’re going to want to show off
Cultural appropriation and cultural appreciation. Two very different terms that many individuals have yet to comprehend. It’s understandable, it can be daunting trying to figure out how to please everyone or at a minimum not offend anyone. The difference between the two is not always clear. There is a very thin line to walk on.
Racial and cultural appropriation has become increasingly significant in society within the past 30 years. “The idea of “cultural appropriation” has recently entered mainstream
The first event in the decades-long feud was the 1865 murder of Randolph’s brother, Asa Harmon McCoy, by the Logan Wildcats, a local militia group that counted Devil Anse and other Hatfields among its members. Many people—even members of his own family—regarded Asa Harmon, who had served in the Union Army during the American Civil War, as a traitor. The McCoys, living on the Kentucky side of the river, fought for the Union Army while the Hatfields fought for the Confederacy. During the war, Asa Harmon McCoy broke his leg and was sent home. When he returned, a group named “The Logan Wildcats,” led by Jim Vance, tracked him down to a cave and killed him. This was the very first in a long line of murders in the feud. The group came after Asa because of a pre-existing hatred
Cultural appropriation is the adoption or use of the elements of one culture by members of another culture. Cultural appropriation is portrayed as rude, called cultural misappropriation, and claims to be a violation of the history of a culture. Often unavoidable when cultures come together, cultural appropriation can include using another culture's traditions, such as fashion, symbols, language, and cultural songs without permission. Even though society consistently uses Native American and African American styles at festivals, in magazines and on celebrities, this form of cultural appropriation is not right because we are not using it for the right reasons.
It is a term that has dominated the media; from Halloween costumes to NFL mascots, headlines across the nation blare the words: “cultural appropriation.” Yet, many still are not quite sure what the term means. To put it simply, cultural appropriation is the exploitation of a culture that is not one’s own.
This year’s family vacation was one for the books. With my aunt living in Tennessee, we do not get together as often as we would like so my family decided to go to Nashville, Tennessee. When we started our trip, it was 6 a.m. and it was nothing short of fun and laughter along the way. Never having been to Tennessee before, I figured I’d enjoy the eight-hour ride of sight-seeing and laughter with my family. When we were a few miles into the trip, the mountains of Georgia were breathtaking. While I was enjoying the scenery, another thing that I found enjoyable about this trip was the conversation that I had with my family. We went on talking about life in general, all the struggles, and childhood memories that we had. We even talked about years
In the movie “Rogue One”, a brave group of men and woman, sneak onto a rebel planet to steal planes, to destroy, the “Death Star”. A big metal planet that is known for being “the killer of all planets”.Throughout this movie this group goes through a number of obstacles to find these planes, there is so many obstacles that at the everyone in the group dies just after giving somebody the planes. Even though everyone dies this movie it is still worth remembering by being the key to many of the other amazing “Star Wars” movies.
(“ Statistics and facts”, n.d.). Also there are medical spas that treat cosmetic and chronic health problems. In present time attention to wellness and healthier life style increased significantly. The spa industry seeks to provide services, which will help to heal body, mind, and spirit. Tabacchi (2010) noted, “spa leaders spoke strongly of the need for
I came to America as an exchange student from Vietnam at the age of fifteen. When I decided to go alone to an unfamiliar environment, no one thought it was a wise decision. My friends advised me to give up on that intention and focus on learning in Vietnam. My parents are afraid that I will be in danger and nobody will take care for me. But I want to experience new cultures, and especially this is the beginning of my dream to study at famous American universities. Participate in this program allows me to not only build personal relationships when studying and interacting with Americans but also to learn about US culture from a local perspective. Apart from me, there are cultural exchanges students from other countries such as Japan, Spain.
When I heard about the two week program being offered I felt excited because I knew this was an opportunity to travel and expand my knowledge on a different culture. I have always wanted to feel independent all my life so what better chance do I get than this program which offers a
Studying abroad is important to me for a multitude of reasons. The most pressing of which is,
“Today’s living feels like a struggle to survive”,” Money is always a big issue”,” I can’t study if I don’t have the money for it”. That was my way of thinking recently, but a month before this course commenced I started to think differently. I said to myself, “I need to look for more information on how to be able to pay for my studies”, “Student Loans might provide me with the money I need to start studying again”, “I’m going to apply for the President’s Scholarship, writing a 2 page essay explaining why I deserve that scholarship”. My new way of thinking about money brought me my most recent identity as a student in the International Academy of Design and Technology. Then I got my books, including Becoming a Master Student which made me realize even more the power of “Positive Thinking”. Now I know that money may be a primordial need but not an obstacle, that there are resources that can help me achieve my goals. Now I’m confident that by planning ahead and adding additional control to my personal finances I will be able to have enough money to complete my education.
The actual programming of a computer is what controls its every operation. Similarly, society’s gender roles control every choice that a person makes. For example, “From an economic perspective, the traditional female careers into which significant numbers of girls are directed pay substantially lower wages than nontraditional fields. For example, in the field of cosmetology, in which girls represent 98% of the students, workers typically earn a median wage of $9.52 per hour, yet in the electricians' field, in which girls comprise only 6% of students, the median earnings are more than twice as much, at $20.33 per hour.” (Toglia, 2)
One of the most obvious difficulties for an international student is culture shock. Culture shock is the result of moving from an environment that is familiar to one that is not. Adjusting to new food, people, environment and
With the development of the globalization, the business connection between diverse countries is becoming stronger and closer. Thus finding a uniform business language among different enterprises is an increasingly important issue, which could help company owner to understand better and evaluate various investment opportunities in foreigner countries. Accounting is widely recognized as one of the most efficient and useful tools to communicate in the business word. However, there are a large number of accounting standards in diverse financial markets, such as Japan Generally Accepted Accounting Principle (JGAAP), Australian Accounting Standard (ASS) and the US Generally Accepted Accounting Principle (US GAAP). To fill the gap between discrepant accounting standard, the International Accounting Standard Board (IASB) attempt to set up universal accounting standard and make it universally accepted and applied. IASB has established in 2001 April, which was reorganized by the International Accounting Standard Committee (IASC), and its work is quickly approved by its target group. During this process, a common conceptual framework was initially developed by a joint IASB-FASB Project, which was used as a basis for accounting standards. In 2012, this project was suspended and replaced by an IASB-only comprehensive project (reference).
