Jace was ready. He was determined to win his game. As he’s squatting down at the catcher's box, he sees a ball hurtling towards him. The batter swings, he misses. As Jace moves his hand slightly to the left, he feels a ball in his hand. He had caught the ball! He jumped up screaming, “We won! We won! I can’t believe we won!!” As he walks over to the other team to say ‘good game’ he can’t stop smiling. He and his teammates were so happy that it called for a celebration. They decided that the next day they were going to go to Worlds & Oceans of Fun. As they were texting each other later that night trying to figure out a ride situation, they realized that only 3 of them would be able to go because everyone else was busy. So, Jace’s mom volunteered to drive Luke, Will & Jace down there. As she was dropping them off at the front gate the next day she hollered at them, “Call me when you want me to pick you up!!” Jace hollered back, “Bye mom.” As the boys were walking into the park they were arguing about what they should go do first. They decided to start by spinning dragons and kind of work their way up and around the …show more content…
He thought about Jace’s mom and when she was going to pick them up. He told Jace and Will and they needed to make a decision quickly. Will decided that they should all run over to the Mamba. As they were working their way to the Mamba Jace could feel his heart beating because he knew his mom was most likely worried. He tried to take his mind off of it, but he just couldn’t. The second they got to the Mamba they all tried to walk across the ride to the bins. But they were
It all began on November 3, 2015 during my first middle school basketball tournament. The grey brick walls of the gymnasium looking more like a prison than a school. The school’s “Lincoln Park Elementary School” sign had graffiti and missed a couple letters from the name. The court was terribly small, but we began by playing the superb team of Jam on It. We were blown out and I headed back up to my mom and dad in the parent filled stands. The game wasn’t even fun to play and we looked like third graders playing them. I looked up to my parents as sad as could be.
Basketball was a new experience to me a few years ago, but i never realized I was going to love it. When I was younger, I’ve always wanted to play the sport of basketball, and I got my opportunity to play when I was in fifth grade at Monte Vista Elementary.
Basketball was my favorite sport growing up. I’ve played since I was little and I still play the game today. I played basketball at my elementary school, St. Cecilia, from Kindergarten till 8th Grade and also played AAU basketball for about 2 years before entering High School. Going into my freshmen year of High School, the first sport I played was basketball. Tryouts began in about the start of November and ended about 2 weeks after. I had made the Freshmen A team. I was excited and as the season progressed, we didn’t win many games but I still had fun playing. Nearing the end of the season, golf was another sport coming up that I also wanted to try and play. I say “try and play” because at the time, I was also going to play AAU basketball. I had set in my mind that I was going to play basketball for all of my four years of high school, but my parents pushed me to tryout for golf. When the basketball season ended, golf tryouts started. Tryouts lasted for about 2 weeks, and I made the JV team. When I found out I made the team, I was very surprised. I hadn’t put in the hard work as others before tryouts came around, but the coach saw potential in me and that I can become a great player. The coach saw so much potential in me, that every week, I kept progressing in skill and fine tuning my mechanics. Halfway through the season, about 4 or 5 weeks after I made the team, my coach gave me the chance to play with the Varsity Golf team for a couple days. I was excited and eager to
Lucas was really heartbroken. The next day he cuts school to go to Manhatten without his mom and dad knowing. He went to meet Uncle
I began playing Basketball freshmen year as a way to release my emotions and forget the thoughts that gave me stress or made me overthink. My coaches gave me the nickname of “Mean Darline” because of how tough and aggressive I would get when being on defense. Little did they know that I wasn’t good at that position because I loved Basketball but because it maintained me calm and allowed me to express myself in a socially approved activity. When the season was finished and I retired from Basketball after my sophomore year I went back to going to the gym three to four times a week. Gym workouts or any physical activity is great to rechannel one’s unacceptable impulses without others criticizing us for our actions.
“Wake up……….. It’s game day” my dad says. “ It’s the day we've all been waiting for and it finally came, your sophomore year of high school and you're starting on varsity” my mom adds. I get up and go eat breakfast. My dad takes me up to the school to get ready for the big game today. State Championship basketball game, 13 seconds left in the 4th quarter, my team is down 73-70, we rebound the ball and they pass me the ball, rushing down the court as fast as we can to score before the clock runs out. I have the ball dribbling down the court as fast as I can. Sweat dripping hard like rain drops, my legs and arms are all bruised up, palms are sweaty, and I'm out of breath. I pass it to my teammate, Josh, and set a screen on his man, 9 seconds left. No one is open, so I roll back up to the top of the key and Josh passes the ball back to me. 7 seconds left, the guy that's guarding me is playing up close, so I hit a crossover on him to get past him. 5 seconds I move to the side 3 point line and hit a step-back move, the defender stumbles and the crowd goes ”oooooooooooooooooooo’’ 3 seconds left my heart is racing really fast, 2 seconds, I shoot the ball, 1 second, the ball goes around the rim, HORN BLOWS, it was so quiet and it felt like the world paused for a minute and it finally goes in and the crowd goes wild, the score is now 73-73. My teammates rush to me and pile on me. Everyone is happy and yelling, “ Tyler, Tyler, Tyler” We go to the bench listening to our coach talking
The cool thing about humans, is no two are exactly the same, every one is different in their own way. We’re all defined in unique ways, some by their jobs, some by their livelihood, or interests such as basketball. This is one of my favorite things to do in life, there's just nothing better than setting foot on that court. When basketball season starts to roll around, memories from past years come flooding in. Being able to smell the freshly popped popcorn all throughout the gym. Looking up at the crowd and seeing everyone in the stands cheering us on, arguing with refs about a call, or not really paying attention to the game at all. The feeling I get when I’m on the court is second to nothing. This is where I go when I need need to just get away and think.
An all time favorite activities of me to do and to watch is basketball. Basketball is something I relish because it's exciting and really affecting, I started playing when I was in fourth grade. When I became attentive in basketball it was because I was trying out sports that year and I determine I admired it and really, enjoying it. Basketball is something my dad, and my brother plays, too. My brother and I try to practice, and learn from each other when we both have the time to practice.
A Luke that she had never seen before. Afterschool, Jessica was hanging out with her friend, her friend being a boy. His name was Kevin, him being her best friend. As soon as Luke saw Jessica hug Kevin, he got out of his car, and began to fight with Kevin.
By then Jasmine had butterflies in her stomach. Joe looked a little worried too. Then they started to heard screaming. They picked up their pace to a run. For some reason they knew it was the dragon. A lady panicky ran past them yelling “Dragon!” Then a giant brown scaled tail flew between Joe and Jasmine. A head popped out from around a house. It was brown and smoke coming out through it’s nose with a disgusted
“She seemed upset. She told me how she saw a blue-haired boy following a tall girl into a storage closet. A-And how two boys were following them, one holding a knife. I left her to go get a security guard, but she went into the storage room by herself. But when we got back, there was no one there, except for Clary.” Simon muttered.
It was Saturday, a 79 degrees sunny, summer day; a perfect day to have a basketball tournament. Because we defeated our first two opponents, if we won the third game we would move on to the finals. For this game, we were up against the Tipton Tigers, who had also won their first two games by more than 20 points. Even though we were going up against a great team, we were just as great. The start of the game went by and we found ourselves in a close game at 36 to 42, them. To push us forward, our coach gave us a pep talk. While he encouraged the players, I was thinking, “When I go in, there are a couple of things I can do to give a win for the Sabers: I said to myself, good defense and to move on offense. That will make it a close
Within Hollywood’s movies depiction of drug addiction, many have failed to represent all true aspects that come along with such lifestyles. The movie, The Basketball Diaries, is based off a novel Jim Carroll wrote from his own diary entries. As a teenager growing up in the sixties, Carroll reveals his progression of drug abuse which eventually leads him addicted to heroin.Heroin is a white powder derived from morphine found in opium. It is commonly prescribed as a painkiller, but is also a popular street drug. The director casted Leonardo DiCaprio as Jimmy, and concentrates on creating the character as a stereotypical drug abuser. DiCaprio’s most captivating scene is when he is going through heroin
I had just finished basketball practice it was one of the hardest practices of my life because we were preparing for our tournament game tomorrow. I was tuckered out I began to walk toward the door, I tripped over my shoelaces I landed on the floor hard with a loud thunk everyone laughed except me. That when I noticed the water oozing through the big metal doors. I thought to myself I know it floods Sometimes ,but in the middle of June. That's when branches of an old oak crashed through one stain glass windows. “That was priceless one of the dads”, shouted. The branches were humongous and the biggest had landed on me!I struggle to get out from underneath the branch, but it was too big and my foot was shattered I couldn't move it I was stuck
The unforgettable times when I gasp for air -- legs weak, feeling the burn--make me feel like I’m not gonna make it out of that gym. But when it's all over, I know I accomplished something growing as a player, and the only thing bringing me back is my belief in the love of basketball.
