One time I could not find any sink that had cold water, so I filled the water bottles with warm water and of course Trey had to be the first one to grab one of the bottles. He just gave me a look saying seriously Theo. Also, I am part of this Basketball team. I learned through Basketball that winning is not everything, but the team is.
I started playing basketball when I played nippers in 4th grade. That is when I met Dylan, Jordan, Sawyer, Trey, Brett and Nick. When I was shooting free throws I always miss, but Dyan told me that I should try to bend my knees and use my wrist to shoot free throws. Then after that I started making free throws. Also, I always wanted to win every game that I played.

It all began on November 3, 2015 during my first middle school basketball tournament. The grey brick walls of the gymnasium looking more like a prison than a school. The school’s “Lincoln Park Elementary School” sign had graffiti and missed a couple letters from the name. The court was terribly small, but we began by playing the superb team of Jam on It. We were blown out and I headed back up to my mom and dad in the parent filled stands. The game wasn’t even fun to play and we looked like third graders playing them. I looked up to my parents as sad as could be.
Basketball was a new experience to me a few years ago, but i never realized I was going to love it. When I was younger, I’ve always wanted to play the sport of basketball, and I got my opportunity to play when I was in fifth grade at Monte Vista Elementary.
I was 12 year old when I started playing basketball. My dream was to be similar to Michael Jordan. However, my GBL team has lost every game since I’ve started playing basketball. I was also playing with my older brother Jeremiah for the first time, but we were always fighting about whose better. I knew this season would bring us together. With a lot of hard work we finally won. It took me and my brother to work together to win.
Smack! Everyone could hear the sound of Billy getting smacked by Bob and Billy was on the floor with a big red mark on the side of his head. Everyone was shocked that Bob hit Billy for no reason but the next thing you know everyone is fighting in the middle of the basketball court and all the parents, referees, and kids were all trying to get to Bob and some of the parents were protecting Bob.
Back when I was in third grade and I first started playing, I wasn't athletic at all. I came from small town Missouri Valley to a bigger town Council Bluffs. I was terrible. I remember when I would play and not know what the difference was between offense and defense, I would play defense the whole game. Then when I had the ball and took it down the court I would walk without dribbling. I remember hearing coach say “Macy you have to dribble” and “Macy you're on offense, get the ball and shoot.” Basketball was very tough and confusing for me. Over the years I have grown into it and have become a pretty good
If someone told me something terrible would happen to me during basketball practice on that cold November night, I never would’ve believed them.
"Swish!" The pleasant sound the basketball hoop makes when you perfectly sink the ball. It was a skin-frying day in the small town of Campo. We could hear everyone else in the pool right next to the basketball courts but we would rather play some ball. "Pass it, pass it!" Aricia shouted to Jacob. Jacob ignored her and took it up to the hoop himself. "What the Heck!!" Aricia said, "Pass it sometime you ballhog." Everyone mumbled, "Ooooh" egging on the situation. This time Jacob passed it to her as fast as a bullet so she wouldn't catch it but she did and shot. "Hahahahaha" everyone laughed at her shot. Now Travez and I have the ball and we were ready to score this time. Travez passes it to me and I shoot but only to get the ball stuck in between
We swung the ball around the perimeter, and it came back to me. Eight seconds left I need to hit the shot. I took two dribbles left, and then my man came up to guard me, I gave him a crossover, and he was well off balanced. I basically fell, and I drove baseline, the clock was at two seconds. I saw a big man stepping up to contest my shot, I knew I had to be creative. I saw him ready to jump so I did a floater. I floated the ball high enough, so that it just went over his fingertips. The ball went off the rim, bounced twice, and went in. The buzzer sounded and we had won the game. I could feel the adrenaline and emotion from me and my team. I could see the blood, sweat, and tears from my team and the BC Bolts left on the court. What a moment, what a time, what a performance, what a
went to the football game where Utica played Hartwick. It was a very cold night but it was a very fun game to watch. The game was Charles A. Gaetano Stadium and we were first sitting in the bleachers but we wanted to go stand on the fence because we saw more of our friends standing over there. We were standing by the far end zone so we got to see a lot of the touchdowns which was fun to watch. My friends and I like going to other sporting events because we like to see how the other sports are played and who is on the team and that we hope people come to our lacrosse games. I have always been a sports guy, for example I always football, basketball, and hockey on tv so it is a lot of fun being able to walk
“Prove them wrong” When I was in fourth grade my dad and brother and I were playing basketball at our house, to help my brother practice. I had never played basketball except against my brother, Brayden. My dad would always be our referee and it was a lot of fun. Even though I never beat Brayden. Brayden didn’t think I was very good, and he would have to play easy on me instead of playing as well as he could have played. It really annoyed me I wanted to be as good as him or better because I wanted to actually have a chance to be better than him at one sport.
It’s the beginning of October: tryouts. Coach was explaining how last year was bad. “But this year is going to be different”, said Coach. “We will fight, we will go nonstop, and we will win. After tryouts we got our team, probably not the best, but we were still good. From then on, we practice. Practice until we done the exercises right.
With eleven seconds left on the clock, my team rushed the ball up the court. Getting trapped in the corner, my teammate heaved the ball to where I stood at the foul line. The ball left my fingertips just as the buzzer sounded. I watched in hope as the ball slowly rotated in mid-air. The shot appeared perfect, but it wasn’t until I heard the clank of the back of the rim, that I had realized I had missed. I went home that night, having to swallow a 22-20 loss to my greatest enemies: my best friends.
My body was shaking as I felt the cold sweat drip down my face. I glanced at the crowd and saw everybody standing to watch how the basketball game was going to play out. The sound of fans cheering pounded against my ear drum, as if everyone in the gym had circled around me. As time winded down, the ball ended up back in my sweaty hands. I had the chance to win the game for my team. I had prepared for this moment my whole life, in the driveway, but in the driveway I was alone; the only thing I was playing against was my imagination. As I attempted the winning shot, the only thing I felt was my heart beating rapidly, , so fast it wasand the only thing I saw was the ball float through the air.
Within Hollywood’s movies depiction of drug addiction, many have failed to represent all true aspects that come along with such lifestyles. The movie, The Basketball Diaries, is based off a novel Jim Carroll wrote from his own diary entries. As a teenager growing up in the sixties, Carroll reveals his progression of drug abuse which eventually leads him addicted to heroin.Heroin is a white powder derived from morphine found in opium. It is commonly prescribed as a painkiller, but is also a popular street drug. The director casted Leonardo DiCaprio as Jimmy, and concentrates on creating the character as a stereotypical drug abuser. DiCaprio’s most captivating scene is when he is going through heroin
