There was a couple of days left of summer and my family and I were all wanting to get to the beach one last time. Tiscornia was at a comfortable temperature. The lake was not. Lake Michigan was at it’s coldest point all year along with being a little wavy, but that wasn’t going to stop me from enjoying myself.
When I first stepped in, I thought it was a reasonable temperature, but the deeper I got, the more I realised how wrong I was. My brother Zach, and I decided that we should touch the buoy. I first needed to get my head below the lake’s surface to get comfortable with the water. My shivering body wanted out right from the beginning, but my mind was telling me otherwise. Without thinking, I sunk underwater and almost immediately returned
On a cold Thursday morning, school was in session but I was starting on my way to Lake Winnibigoshish. I was going up there with my five foot nine, one hundred forty pound dad and my five foot nine, two hundred thirty pound neighbor. We stopped in at the Senior Center for some donuts, and went to Holiday Gas Station for some coffee and a cold drink.
“If we do decide to produce the 10- and 12-inch pipe internally, it could solve our overstaffing problem,” Mark Rubin, owner of Great Lakes Pipe & Tube, Inc. (GLPT), remarked to Vinny Patricko, the plant manager. “I’m reluctant to lay anyone off or even cut back hours. It’s not good business and it’s not the right thing to do if it can be at all avoided.”
As I jump off the pontoon, I feel the freezing water surround my body. I'll slip on the boots of the skis and grab the handlebar. Releasing my grip, I put one thumb up into the wind to signal I’m ready to go. Suddenly there is a tug on the rope, and I’m being dragged through the water. Pressing the skis against the cold water, I can finally stand up above the waves. The boat pulls me around the bend of the lake, and the view of all the enormous cabins is thrilling. The seniors on the campground beach will clap and stand up from their Adirondack chairs to wave or whistle. As my legs begin to feel tired, I wave one last time and let go of the handlebar. I can feel my body quickly sink down into the water; the life jacket on my chest will be
It was going to be an exciting and thrilling weekend in the Miracle Village. The Miracle village also known as Lake Placid is where the 1980 Winter Olympics were held. Eight times in history the United States have hosted the Olympics. Lake Placid had a deep history in American Sports. My family and I were in Lake Placid to watch Madeline, my sister, play for the girls U18 National Hockey team. They were going to play 3 games against Canada. Every hockey player in America knows that the 1980 Winter Olympics are not just any ordinary Olympics. The men’s USA hockey team won the gold medal. Just like Rudy in the movie Rudy, they were the underdogs. It was the experience of a life time being in the same ice arena where the underdogs won their gold medal. My sister was representing our country.
Family members are lived together and no matter how rich or poor, beauty or ugliness, young or old. Their relation will never break, and because of the relation connected together closely, when we are in a dilemma, we can trust our family, and they will help you out. In the two essays, “Putting Daddy On” and “ Once More to the Lake”. Both authors are talking about generation shift, family relationship and the time change. Both narrators have confuse
It was mid September 2016 we were on our making our way to Lake Hamilton. An hour and a half later we arrived, it had been my first time in Lake Hamilton ever. I walked into the sunlight exiting the bus. We all ran to the locker room and got a drink of water and went to stretch so we wouldn’t have problems with cramps and charley horses. We started hitting practice and ran some sprints to warm up. Soon after the Lake Hamilton football team came out. I wasn’t intimidated to the slightest, I knew what I was capable of and was hunting for fresh blood.
Clear Lake was almost always a tough opponent, especially at tournaments. Sometimes, they destroy us. Sometimes, we destroy them. But this day, I destroyed them.
Lake Erie is thriving biologically but not in the way one might think. It’s poisoned with toxic algal blooms that grow in the phosphorus-concentrated waters millions of Canadians and Americas alike depend on for drinking water. Unfortunately, this is also not the first time this has happened to the Great, not-so-great Lake.
Was on a family trip to Erie to see the Lake Erie, surprisingly found Sen's restaurant in Erie, and we decided to try it out, and we had a wonderful experience at there. The servers were all friendly and all professionally dressed, the food items seems to be very fresh and they also tastes great, especially combined with multiple choices of soups that go with them, the chef seems and also turned out to be a very experienced Michelin 3-star chef, although it was kinda shock to me that they actually have a Michelin chef work for them. The atmosphere was wonderful, and dining area is busy but well maintained. Top 1 choice of Erie Chinese food after all. Keep up the good
In 1960, Lake Erie was very polluted A lot of the cities such as Toledo, Sandusky, and Port Clinton’s waste was dumped into Lake Erie. Many of the factories that were surrounding the lake erie would dump their waste into the river, which was the cause of a lot of the pollution. Pesticides and chemicals from nearby farms washed off into the river whenever it rained, so the chemicals started to pollute the river. The cities that surround the near by river or lake paid a huge amount of money to get new sewer systems to help keep the water clean. This major source of freshwater is critical to the survival of the entire ecosystem and must be protected at all costs.
At evans lake we had stations that we went to in our learning groups, the stations were Rock Climbing, Low Ropes, Archery, Canoeing, Survival Skills and Outdoor Learning Centre, all the station were fun and all most everyone enjoyed them. Evans Lake always smelled like good food when we were close to the kitchen because the chefs made delicious food all 3 days. Evans lake had 3 boy cabins and 2 girl cabins and were making another cabin, the cabins were green, in front of the boys cabins was a rock and the name of the rock was Boys Rock because only boys were allowed on it and in front of the girls cabins was stairs and the stairs also had a name and the name was the girls stairs. At evans lake you could always hear birds
This Labor day weekend my family, friends, and I went to the lake. Lake Eufala has been closed most of the summer due to rainstorms that turned the lake into a smelly, sticky swamp.1 As a result of the rain, the water looked like a big glass of chocolate milk.2 The lake water being dirty did not stop us from having fun. The first day we took our boat out for a ride. My dad drove it as fast as a race horse.3 For the remainder of the day we hung out on the beach. We were all very sunburned which reminded me of how burned I would get when I would come to the lake when I was younger, and my mom would tell me to put on sunscreen but I would ignore her. I have grown up going to the lake. The house we have now used to be my grandpa’s, but when my
From a minuscule island in a tranquil lake, the inevitable coming of winter is detectable. The heavens are full a white, elongated clouds whirled around the sky in the most breathtaking way. On the horizon, the playful sun is taking its first peek of the new day. It sends warming rays of sunlight on a bitter November day. The trees have lost most of their leaves, except for the oaks which hold their remaining ones with pride. The ground is covered with the rest of the tree’s dead and crunchy leaves which are the only remanence of life once there; other than a rabbit or deer wandering through a sparse ray of sunshine. The once lively lake is now half-frozen and has shattered particles of ice all about it. Where there is no ice, it is possible
The sky rumbles with thunder as the charcoal clouds roll over the excessively dark rough watered lake. The clouds are so thick and dark that only a few flickers of light, from the moon, shine through. The depth of the lake appears to have no end, as if anything would get lost if caught in its’ rough currents. Thick and high grass cover the water’s edge. The air becomes thick and icy, making it hard for anyone to breathe. It is the kind of icy feeling that fills the whole entire body, consuming every inch of life within. The kind that send chills down spines. There is the sound of pinging in the distance.
The natural beauty of this glacial lake is something I have never seen before. The lake runs along the road on one side and looks as if it’s hugging the mountains on the other. The reflection of the fluffy clouds and rolling mountains on the crystal-clear water is stunning. As I stand on the bank I can feel the coldness of the water as the wind blows. As far as the eye can see there is nothing but pristine blue water. Crescent Lake has such a tranquil, calming effect. As I relish in the beauty with the sun kissing my face, I could get lost standing on the bank of this beautiful
