Matt’s Basketball
Matt’s season had started in the middle of October. He was so excited, because basketball was a sport he loved. He was an excellent shooter when it came to basketball. His three’s were usually drained, without no problem. He was ready for basketball to start. He usually played point guard. He went to all of the practices and was ready for the basketball season to start. He was so hyped on the day he walked into the doors at school. He was so excited to kick off the season vs. El paso-Gridley. After school ended the basketball team had gone to Michael's to eat before the game. After eating they stopped at BP for some Gatorade. After BP it was time to come back to the school to get ready. During warm ups before the game,

The Hornets felt like Flanagan had to be in an easy seed. The Hornets had played to the 4th quarter and decided to put the second string in. The Hornets came out with a win 46- 31. Matt was the point leader in that game with having his threes spot on. Matt was in tears winning that game and having his team come all this way. The boys were heading home with a fire truck and cop flashing lights and making noise at 8;30 at night on a Saturday. The Hornets were in the newspaper from their victory and effort. The Hornets were on a float in the parade and got cheered on by everyone they went by. After all the effects from winning state everyone was sad that it’s over, but they knew they could attack state next year. Matt was a huge part of the team. He was an excellent shooter and defender. He was a great captain to the team and also the best focused person to the game. The Hornets had done an excellent job making this far in basketball and everyone was proud of them. Matt was happy with the outcome, but ready to do more next year. State
It all began on November 3, 2015 during my first middle school basketball tournament. The grey brick walls of the gymnasium looking more like a prison than a school. The school’s “Lincoln Park Elementary School” sign had graffiti and missed a couple letters from the name. The court was terribly small, but we began by playing the superb team of Jam on It. We were blown out and I headed back up to my mom and dad in the parent filled stands. The game wasn’t even fun to play and we looked like third graders playing them. I looked up to my parents as sad as could be.
Basketball was a new experience to me a few years ago, but i never realized I was going to love it. When I was younger, I’ve always wanted to play the sport of basketball, and I got my opportunity to play when I was in fifth grade at Monte Vista Elementary.
Basketball was my favorite sport growing up. I’ve played since I was little and I still play the game today. I played basketball at my elementary school, St. Cecilia, from Kindergarten till 8th Grade and also played AAU basketball for about 2 years before entering High School. Going into my freshmen year of High School, the first sport I played was basketball. Tryouts began in about the start of November and ended about 2 weeks after. I had made the Freshmen A team. I was excited and as the season progressed, we didn’t win many games but I still had fun playing. Nearing the end of the season, golf was another sport coming up that I also wanted to try and play. I say “try and play” because at the time, I was also going to play AAU basketball. I had set in my mind that I was going to play basketball for all of my four years of high school, but my parents pushed me to tryout for golf. When the basketball season ended, golf tryouts started. Tryouts lasted for about 2 weeks, and I made the JV team. When I found out I made the team, I was very surprised. I hadn’t put in the hard work as others before tryouts came around, but the coach saw potential in me and that I can become a great player. The coach saw so much potential in me, that every week, I kept progressing in skill and fine tuning my mechanics. Halfway through the season, about 4 or 5 weeks after I made the team, my coach gave me the chance to play with the Varsity Golf team for a couple days. I was excited and eager to
A literary element that are conveyed in the theme of the book, Michael Jordan, would be the facts that are given to his sports career time line and what he did as a famous athlete. Michael did not make his high school basketball team his sophomore year, so he would get up early and practice, showing persistence (Edwards, 1995, p. 7). This helped to convey the theme of the book because Michael did not give up on basketball. He would wake up at six in the morning to practice (Edwards, 1995, p.7). An example of the theme is present in the book Michael Jordan when the author Nick Edwards states that he “led his team to the 1982 NCAA Finals” (Edwards, 1995, p. 10). Michael Jordan retired after nine years, but missed sports so much that he went to playing baseball for one season. His parents taught him that being a good person is better than being a good ball player. “He will often visit sick children in the hospital” (Edwards, 1995, p. 26). After missing basketball, Michael decided to go back and play for the Chicago Bulls. Michael was a good ball player and persevered through being denied a spot on his high school sophomore basketball team and went on to be a famous basketball player.
There he was sitting in the bleachers waiting for the game to be over hoping that it wouldn't be long. His little brother, Mike, was playing a lacrosse game, the hardest one of their season. Mike was pretty good, but not as good as the people on the other team. The score was 17-2, they were ranked number two in the state, but these guys were number one.
Their coach was Chet Carnivale. Coach Chet had been making a big impact on the Greenwave girls. It was late January, early February; the middle of the basketball season, and their record was 22-0. They couldn’t believe they were undefeated. Taking on Sacred Heart at 4:30, the Greenwave girls would compete to win the championship game in the Sacred Heart Tournament. Time had flown by. The sound of basketballs bouncing and the squeaking of basketball shoes burning rubber on the floor meant that it was almost game time. The Greenwave girls were extremely anxious. Coach Chet had sparked a new confidence in them, and their anxiety and fear quickly turned into anger and determination to give their long-time enemy a taste of their own medicine. Somehow, the fear of destroying their record and losing a chance at revenge still lingered in the back of their minds. All of a sudden, the ref blew the whistle for the jump

High school basketball superstars Danny Wilcox and Terrell Jamerson are going to a summer camp to play basketball, when they first get there no one notices Danny but then he starts to improve his playing style. Then Terrell gets mixed in with a bad reporter and gets Terrell "lit". Danny knows from the time he sees Terrell's eyes and he tries to get him eye drops before anyone sees him and that’s just when Danny's father walks in and he knew too. Danny and Terrell get benched for a game and of course they loose that game. Then when they come back they win almost every game and make it to the championship round and

We had gone 3-20 the season before and had not beaten our rival Troy Christian in basketball in seven years before this game. Earlier that season we had lost to Troy Christian by eight points after leading by eight at halftime. Our team was disappointed, but also hungry for revenge. It seemed like eternity waiting for our rematch. The week before the game we began practicing a defensive scheme to stop Troy Christian's six-foot-eight center, James Anderson. He had led the conference in scoring and rebounding all season. He scored eighteen points and grabbed eighteen rebounds in our first meeting and we were determined not to allow that to happen again. Finally, the day came. The day that would change our program. We were ready to put an end
It was the year of 1993. Vernon King lived in a big town called Gainesville, Florida. Vernon was 17 years old about to begin his Junior year at Eastside High school. It was the fourth quarter in the conference championship game and the bright green scoreboard read 40 to 39 with 10 seconds left. The fans were out of their seats flailing their arms with wide eyes. The glowing lights in the gym beamed off of the shiny court which smelled like glossy wood. I had butterflies in my stomach ,and my heart was racing. As soon as I heard the high shrill of the whistle, I was ready to play ball.

Within Hollywood’s movies depiction of drug addiction, many have failed to represent all true aspects that come along with such lifestyles. The movie, The Basketball Diaries, is based off a novel Jim Carroll wrote from his own diary entries. As a teenager growing up in the sixties, Carroll reveals his progression of drug abuse which eventually leads him addicted to heroin.Heroin is a white powder derived from morphine found in opium. It is commonly prescribed as a painkiller, but is also a popular street drug. The director casted Leonardo DiCaprio as Jimmy, and concentrates on creating the character as a stereotypical drug abuser. DiCaprio’s most captivating scene is when he is going through heroin
One rainy night in November, I arrived to the church gym for my first basketball practice of the season. As I walked in the doors creaked and you could smell the gym floor. As I already heard the basketballs hitting the ground, bouncing up and down. My friends Brittany and Destiny walked in right behind me through the door. That was when we realized we were the only girls surrounded by all guys. As practice came to a start we began to run, it felt like we were never going to stop. Up and down the court as we ran suicides, you could hear the squeaking of shoes as we went from the next line back and then on to the next. Before we started scrimmaging, the two captains were boys. Brittany, Destiny, and I stood in amazement as we were the last three standing there. You could see by their expressions they didn’t want any of us on either team.
