Families and friends gathered to witness 100 students be inducted into the Elgin High School chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) in a ceremony at the school Thursday evening.
The inductees consisted of incoming juniors and seniors who met the chapter’s eligibility requirements for membership. Students must carry a 3.4 grade point average (GPA) or higher, demonstrate the qualities of character, leadership, and service, and not have any disciplinary referrals during the current or previous school years to qualify.
Once it is determined that an applicant has met the requirements for membership, their application is reviewed again by a committee of faculty members before an invitation for induction is extended.
More than 150 chapter
After the induction ceremony, I came before my mom, both of us smiling. Words were not necessary for me to know that my mom was proud of me. Being in National Honor Society was something that did not just made my parents proud, but it made me proud of myself. The honor of being in the club is not the only reason why the club is so valuable for me. It is the experience that I get form interacting and working with students from other grade levels that really inspires me. The club meetings and activities allow me to meet amazing individuals that I might have never had the opportunity to meet. National Honor Society is also a club that helps and encourages their club members to give back to the community. Some events that National Honor Society
Many only see the National Honor Society as an organization that will look excellent on college applications, and although that may be true, the National Honor Society is not an organization that can be taken so lightly. The National Honor Society is so much more than a scholarship-granting organization, the NHS is an organization that helps develop the requisite for render service and the development of leadership and character. The growth and success of the NHS relies on not only its members, but also those outside of the organization. Its members can only do so much on their own. Part of building character and leadership is to encourage and rely on others whom are capable of helping. The members of NHS shouldn’t let their pride and achievements
While conducting research on the partnered sororities of the National Pan-Hellenic Council, I discovered particularly fascinating attributes associated with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. What fascinated me the most was the sorority’s distinct dedication to education, sisterhood, mentorship, and international service. I desire membership of the first organization people look to for help; that is Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. This sorority has made its way relevant from 1908 to modern day and progressively moving forward. I want to be able to say the same thing about myself.
If the aforementioned criteria are met, the student will be inducted into the National Junior Honor Society in a ceremony on Thursday, May 11, 2016 at 6:00 pm at Beaufort Middle School. The meeting of the criteria for being inducted is the nominee’s responsibility. Each student is responsible for keeping track of due dates, paperwork and service hours.
When I transferred to Florida International University (FIU) in January 2015, I was invited to become a member of a national honor society
I am honored and excited to be writing about how I can support the National Honor Society (NHS). I was first introduced to the NHS, around 10 years of age, by my Uncles awards he proudly displays in his “Man Cave” along with many other academic and leadership awards he had received from Jr. High all the way through College. Of course, he saw me looking over the many ribbons, medals, trophies, pictures and I could continue; however this is not about him and when he saw me looking at them he had no problem coming over and explaining what each award was and how he had received each one. Then we got to the NHS picture, medal & yellow cord. He explained how he was “tapped” into NHS as a Sophomore and he made sure I understood that was not the
I feel very distinguished to be among the exemplary students who are being considered for the National Honor Society. I strongly believe that this society does many great things in the society by helping many people and I hope that I can play an important role in improving the impression it has created.I would be excited to join such a society because of the limitless opportunities it would present to me and allow to me to grow as a reputable person and do as much as I can for the greater good.
First off, I am honored to be considered for membership into National Honor Society. It has been one of my many goals throughout my high school career to become a member. I believe I fit all the criteria for what it takes to be part of a great organization. I take great pride in my academics, as well as my character. In my eyes, character is the most important aspect to be a leader. I believe I fill that role well.
I am honored to be among the many students who are being considered for the National Honor Society. I believe that this organization does amazing things not just for the students at Harrison Community Schools but for everyone in the community and the surrounding communities. I hope to be a part of furthering the impressions that this organization has set among the public. I strive to be apart of NHS and the positive changes they inflict on many lives because I have worked hard to get to this point. Leadership, Character and Service have brought me far in life therefore they are my strength to evolve into positive changes that better everyone.
The function of an organization such as National Honor Society is to train the youth of today on how to be the leaders of tomorrow. I believe that the best way for anyone to learn is by example, and to serve others. National Honor Society is an organization based on leadership. Whether a leader in a family, a business, a school, or even a public service position, the best way to lead, is to be an example to others. I believe that serving others is one of the most important and lacking parts of society and the world that we live in today.
National Honor Society is more than a club I am apart of, it has given me the motivation to strive to keep my grades at a certain level, keep up with community service, treat others with respect, and also conduct myself in a mature manner. The National Honor Society Scholarship would help fund my schooling at Gulf Coast State College in Panama City, Florida.
Former students who completed at least one year of studies at the university (and withdrew in good standing) are also eligible for membership.
What makes me a qualified candidate is that I am hard-working, persistent, and passionate about what I do. If I start something, I will not stop until it is complete, and done to the best of my abilities. Not only am I passionate about Key Club, I consider myself a very outgoing and caring person, and not afraid to help motivate more reserved or hesitant members to join in on events, and overall become more comfortable around the officers, and their fellow Key clubbers. When I first joined Key Club, I was hesitant to do any events because I had no friends that were interested in doing them with me. As a result of my shyness, I missed out on a lot of great events my freshmen year, and I do not want anyone else to feel that they can not fit in, or feel like they're going to be left out.
I submitted my application to a few of the most reputable cliques, and my interview amongst a panel of representatives from the most popular coteries is next period. Although there are no established criteria for what groups desire when pondering future members, I hope I have what it takes. My grades are impeccable, and I am relatively likeable.
Decisions are based on a combination of factors, including academic merit, financial need as well as participation and leadership in Kappa and the community.
