Guatemala is known as one of the safest countries. Guatemala does not have many natural disasters and also has many forests. In guatemala there are 1 246 types of birds, reptiles mammals, amphibians and plants. They don’t have many nature like animals. Most animals in Guatemala are birds there are some others too. This happened because between 1990-2005 they lost 17 percent of their total forests. The population in Guatemala use 0.7 million tons of solids waste every year. Guatemala is surrounded by many tall mountains too, it has houses on top of them to.
The climate is much different in Guatemala. While they have a dry season and it will not rain from October till at least a couple months after February, we have a lot of our rain during these months. In my city we all have electricity and our houses are all wired with a surplus of sockets and individual switches; while in Cesar’s village the countryside is just recently receiving electricity, and their homes only have two sockets and one switch that turns them on and off at the same time. Our Easter celebrations are similar, we both decorate eggs and dress up; but while they dance and set off firecrackers; we have scavenger hunts, go to church, and have a fancy dinner. We both have similar goals to improve our city and to succeed in school.
Guatemala is a Spanish speaking country located in Central America, south of Mexico. The name Guatemala translates to “the land of the trees.” This is because it is surrounded by many rainforests that support an abundance of wildlife. Guatemala has many beautiful attractions such as volcanoes, rainforests and ancient Mayan sites. Guatemala City is the capital of Guatemala.
Agriculture in Guatemala is a very rich country. Guatemala is one of the most exporting countries in the world for its diverse species. I studied many things about Guatemala such as, the culture, religion, food, population, geography, imports, exports, and most popular of all sports. The sports of Guatemala is something I found very interesting.
When the Maya began settling in the lowlands of what is now northern Guatemala around 1000 BCE, they cleared thick tropical forests in order to farm. They grew crops like beans, squash, avocados and corn. The forest provided food sources like deer, rabbits and monkeys, and building materials like wood, vines and mud for their houses. Through increased trade, small isolated Mayan villages grew into large cities. While the Apache used to live in wickiups, made of wooden frames covered by a buffalo-hide tarp, nowadays they live in modern houses and apartment buildings. Traditionally, the Apache were hunters. The men hunted antelope, buffalo, and deer, while the women collected fruits and nuts from their surroundings. These days, however their main staple food consists of corn.
Guatemala Genocide is very interesting so that one of the reason why i had chosen this genocide. It very interesting because they had another type of genocide and a lot of people usually don't talk about the Guatemala Genocide. This genocide is one of the genocide that had so many people killed. It about 60 percent of the population. Another reason why I had chosen the Guatemala Genocide because I had never ever heard about or ever learned about the Guatemala genocide so I thought I should learn about Guatemala. Learning about this Genocide made me realize alot of genocide such like african american and jewish weren't the only one being abuse. Genocide happened almost everywhere in the world and people will never know where else it couldn't of happened. My topic about the Guatemalan just cover everything about the genocide such as the army , how people were treated , how they felt and world response. Just doing research base on the question , there were ruf time to even read the articles. How they describe how the beat newborns and 3 years to death in front of their parent or its vice versa. Guatemala citizens lost everything during 1981-1983 genocide.
The history of Guatemala is divided into three distinct stages, the Mayan indigenous, Spanish colonial, and the modern republic. The Mayan indigenous period lasted from 300 AD to 900 AD and featured highly developed architecture, painting, sculpture, music, mathematics (including the use of 0), a 365-day calendar, roads, and extensive trade. The civilization mysteriously collapsed around 900 AD and by the twelfth century the Mayas had
When somebody needs help, do you help them? Well one time i was at the shooting range and a worker needed help setting up a skeet thrower. He was new on the job so he didn't really know how to set it up. So i helped him carry it to the trap house, then we got it on its blocks. He didn't know how to set it up, so i showed him how to plug it in. then i had to calibrate it, and make sure it was throwing at the right height. Finally, we got to have are skeet practice, and as always i shot the best.
Over 200,000 Mayans in Guatemala were murdered in the civil war that took place between 1960 and 1996 in guatemala. In the past, Guatemala was the center of the Maya kingdom, and to this day most of its citizens identify as Mayan. The mayan genocide was a very horrible thing to happen to this people, because of how many lives were lost also how unfair this people were treated and killed in their own home land. I will try to compare both topics the best way i can and show you how tragic this was.
Guatemala is a large Latin American country with only a population of 12,701,000. This country is sometimes misjudged because many people see it as a tourist destination, but sadly it is a very dangerous place to be. The capital of this beautiful Caribbean state, Guatemala City has a high crime rate. Many times the crimes committed are shootings and drug trafficking, but the crimes can be more than that. Most crimes are encouraged by the cartels that the government cannot control. (Guatemala Facts 1)
Mayan physical geography includes the area of the Yucatan Peninsula, which has flat lands and a tropical climate. They lived in the area that is now Guatemala, Belize, Yucatan, and southern Mexico. This part of culture is displayed all throughout the exhibit, shown in the back of the exhibit with some hills, and it is also shown in the front with flat lands. This is important to Mayan culture because without the grounds and area in which they lived, it is most likely that they would create different kinds of structures and homes fit for the area. The climate of the area in which the Mayans lived was a tropical climate with coastal climates in some areas. The area had a dry season, and a wet season. This is shown throughout the exhibit, with
W.E.B Du Bois once stated “to be a poor man is hard, but to be a poor race in a land of dollars is the very bottom of hardships” (qtd. in Rodgers 1). The Native American culture is often overlooked by many people in the United States today. What many people do not realize is that about twenty-five percent of Native Americans are living in poverty (Rodgers 1). A majority of the poverty among Native Americans is due to the United States breaking treaties that promised funds for their tribes. When non-Native Americans first began migrating to North America, the Indians were slowly having their land stripped away from them, and being pushed to live on small, poorly kept reservations. As well as taking
Guatemala’s climate varies depending on the region, for example in the highlands is cooler, and on the lowlands and tropical area is extremely hot and humid. Guatemala has two seasons during a year; the wet season and the dry season. The wet season starts from May and ends in October. Then, the dry
The Classical Maya was lost to the archaeological records until the last 200 years due to it’s abandonment. When the Mayans left there great cities, thick vines and jungles overtook the great monuments they once built. But in the last 200 years, in depth research has lead to breakthroughs into what the Classic Maya was like. The earliest Mayans were agriculturalist, growing crops such as corn (maize), beans, squash and cassava. The Mayans also invented a very accurate calendar, a math code using 0’s, constructed buildings still intact today, and a writing system that took decades to decode. The Mayans were situated in one geographical block covering all of the Yucatan Peninsula (Mexico), modern-day Guatemala, Belize, parts of the Mexican states of Tabasco and Chiapas, and the western part of Honduras and El Salvador. Due to their location on the
