I am interested in doing the North African Campaign that happened in 1940 till about 1943. Because Africa was vaguely covered. Furthermore, I did a research on Nelson Mandela and can mention with my findings of Africa along with details of North and South Africa. I already familiar with it and I already have two reliable sources. It doesn't say I can't use North Africa it only says Africa so that includes North, Central, and South

Nelson Mandela was in activist for the civil right movement. I chose him because he is very famous throughout the world and I had done research about him in the past. I also, wanted to know more about him and the reason why he spend so much time in prison.How was his spirit still not broken?Later on, I find out that he was sent to jail because he stood up against a government that was committing an egregious human rights abuses against blacks and South Africans. Someone might think a person could not serves years in prison for a lifetime. However, there was a man who served twenty-seven years of his life imprisoned his faith. However, he was not charged with the crime of murder or theft. He was charged with the crime of sabotage. That time, his faith that apartheid was wrong, was unfair, was opposite to the Africans and that his only crime based in the legal system in Africa. Nelson Mandela was an anti-apartheid activist and the leader of ANC (African National Congress’s). Because of his sabotage, Mandela served 27 years in prison, and spending many of these years on Robben Island. He experienced many hardships in prison. After he released from prison on 11 February 1990, Mandela sustained negotiation and reconciliation for the apartheid. He also won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993. Nelson Mandela can be considered a hero because he portrayed forgiveness, persistence, and patience.
Just imagine if you had your land taken and you were herded into your own districts. You’re also told who you can and can’t marry based on your race. It is hard to imagine that happening in America in this day in age but this was a reality for blacks and other races in South Africa. The separation started with the 1913 land act and worsened in 1948 when the Afrikaner national party won office and started to enact even more apartheid laws. The man who eliminated many tough ways of life for citizens in South Africa was not only an influential human activist, he was also a South African role model and more specifically a freedom fighter. Nelson Mandela taught his supporters to toss their weapons and face the enemies straight through peaceful demonstrations, and not through firing weapons or killing innocent lives. Nelson Mandela forever changed the way of politics by abolishing apartheid in South Africa. Drinking from the wrong water fountain, could even get you thrown into jail. Coincidently; this was the life, of black South Africans from the moment of Dutch colonization in 1652, to the first true democratic election in 1994. Apartheid, meaning “separateness” in Afrikaans; was legal segregation enforced by The National Party (NP) from 1948 to 1994. It legally imposed preexisting policies of racial discrimination on the Majority of the South African population. The entire basis of the racist policies, was the darker your complexion the less legal rights you had. Presumably this injustice, could have continued much longer if it weren’t for all involved in the fight against the NP, however the man who arguably contributed the most, was Nelson Mandela. He ended an apartheid, with both his philanthropy and political prowess. He united a nation that used to be segregated; which seemed a daunting task at the time, but through the sweat and bloodshed he achieved the impossible. Born on July 18, 1918, in Mvezo, a village in the Transkei, Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela became a prominent figure in global politics until recent times. Nelson was born on July 18 under the name Rolihlahla Mandela, to parents Nonqaphi Nosekeni and Nkosi Mphakanyiswa Gadla Mandela. He began to attend school at the age of seven in Qunu. While here he was given the name Nelson by a teacher, and name that stuck with him forever. His father was royalty, and was the principal chancellor to the Acting King of the Thembu people. When his father past away in 1930, while Nelson was twelve, it left Nelson to take his fathers position. He would continue to attend school, earning a bachelors degree from the University of South Africa in 1942. In 1944 he married for the first time to Evelyn Ntoko Mase and together they had four children: Thembekile, Makaziwe (who died in infancy), Makgatho, and Makaziwe. In the same year he helped form the African National Congress Youth League. Four years later he was elected secretary of the group, and three years after that, president. After Mahatma Gandhi, perhaps no other leader has influenced the global politics as Nelson Mandela did, in the twentieth century.
