Donald Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, has refused to release his tax returns, claiming that he cannot do so until the IRS audit is complete and that voters would not get much information from it anyways. Trump acknowledged in a debate on October 9, 2016 that he had used a $916 million loss in 1995 to avoid federal income taxes. He claimed that Warren Buffett, the chairman of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., used similar tax avoidance strategies.
