The use of e-cigarettes is also known as vaping since e-cigarettes work by using water vapor instead of smoke, and they closely emulate the look and feel of smoking without the harmful health effects of tobacco smoke. While many people enjoy the benefits of vaping, there are several myths about vaping that have sprung up recently that are simply not true.

Hi everyone. According to therealcost.com, smoking kills more than 480,000 people a year. That is equivalent to the population of New Orleans. That also means that smoking causes one in five deaths. In my 18 years, I have known a few life-long smokers so I have seen the negative effects first hand. Today I will be discussing why you should stop smoking cigarettes. First, I will explain the many health risks, then I will talk about how it alters your appearance, and finally I will explain how it affects those around you.

ENDS are widely available at retail outlets such as mall kiosks in shopping malls, online stores, gas stations, and several other locations (5). Marketed as an alternative to nicotine delivery and advertised as a smoking cessation tool, products such as e-cigarettes, e-hookahs, e-cigars, various flavored e-liquids, and other ENDS components are readily sold. While the average concentration of nicotine resulting from smoking traditional cigarettes was found to be 10 times greater than that of ENDS, the perceived risks and health benefits of these products as being safe alternatives or cessation devices have caused controversy (6).

It is estimated that 36.5 million adults smoke in the United States of America (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention B). A cigarette contains 7,000 chemicals and 70 of those can cause cancer (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention B). When someone decides to smoke a cigarette, they are not only choosing to allow those toxins into their body but are imposing all those same toxins on anyone around them. Secondhand smoke is the combination of smoke from the burning end of a cigarette and the smoke breathed out by smokers and is considered more dangerous then smoking the cigarette (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention B). Every year 480,000 people in the United States of America die because of cigarette smoking, which is the leading cause of preventable disease and death. Why has this deadly habit become such a casual part of the American life? This habit is not only harmful to the person smoking, but is hurting everyone around them. It may be their decision to smoke and cause damage to their own bodies but when they decide to smoke in public they are infringing on the rights of everyone around them right to protect their health. Smoking should be made illegal because it is not only harmful to the smokers but also causes harm to fetuses in utero, developing children and any other adults who may breathe that smoke in.

Cigarette smoking is something people all over the world have been doing for about 2000 years. Back in 2003, the first electronic cigarette was successfully created by a gentleman named Hon Lik. Lik was a 52 year old pharmacist at the time, whom of which was also a smoker.
